Emma nodded. "Well done. Sometimes the simpler methods are the most effective." To a mage's eye, a small hole opened in the weave of the shield, which she widened with a click of her fingers, standing ready with blade in hand. Her hair braided itself once again, waist-length locks darting back and forth seamlessly.

[I'm not a bad person...]♠ Chris did not bother to draw his blade again. "Well," he replied, "one thing is for certain - you did draw a new power out of me. I wasn't expecting to use it against you, but now that I've gone through the trouble of heightening my chakras, you'll get to see a new side of me." He smiled at her. "If you thought I was I was good with my sword... wait until you see how I am without!" With his chakras activated, Chris was much more keenly aware of his body, and this heightened his ability for hand-to-hand combat. Suddenly, it seemed as though his speed had doubled, and he delivered a flurry of blows; what the fists lacked in reach and puncture, they made up for in blinding speed. ♠ [...I just have bad luck.]

Unable to compensate in time, a few blows hit their mark, and Emma cried out in surprise. But, this was fleeting. The blade vanished along with its mistress, who reappeared a good distance away from Chris. "Well, you've upped your game. It's only fitting that I do the same." The shadows in the corners of the room seemed to writhe, stretching out towards her like hunting dogs running to their mistress. Her eyes flashed, and the enchantress gathered her power.

[I'm not a bad person...]♠ Chris saw the shadows move. "Really?" He said inquisitively. "So this is your next move..." The chakras dissipated and he reverted to a more normal state, raising his hands out in a calling gesture. At once, the shadows seemed to start to turn away, and some moved towards himself and took a more tangible form. "I am well-versed in the ways of the dark," he said wryly, "be it vampirism or shadow magic, you can be sure I'm probably acquainted with it." The shadows hung themselves around his slender frame, looking for all the world like black ghosts. ♠ [...I just have bad luck.]

"Oh, I've had my fair share of dabbling in the Black." she muttered before banishing the shadows that remained with her. She lowered her hands, seemingly in a gesture of defeat, raising her eyes at the same time. If he met her gaze...well, who knows what may happen?

[I'm not a bad person...]♠ "I assure you," Chris replied, "what you can do with dark magic is probably not as extensive as what I can do. I gave up quite a bit for my mastery..." as a vampire, he could not harness the power of any other element unless it was based in an artifact, and so his perfection of darkness had indeed come at a steep cost. "Anyways," he added, "as for the shadows... you can have them now." Chris smirked as the shadows he controlled crept quickly and silently up towards their target. ♠ [...I just have bad luck.]

"That depends on your definition of dark magic, for they do vary...extensively, I might add." As the shadows drew closer, she raised a hand. A lance of liquid gold, lightning-fast and searingly bright, jumped from her hand into the heart of the darkness, leaving purple afterimages in its wake. "Concentrated sunlight."

[I'm not a bad person...]♠ Chris shuttered. "Eck," he said, watching the sunlight pierce his shadows. Now, that wasn't very nice at all. Then again, they weren't here to play nice, were they? "Guess it's time we stopped fooling around, then." There was a pause as Chris paused, collecting a different kind of energy: a seductive, vampiric energy. Soon, he was moving again, sword drawn and battle-ready, moving towards Emma. It was like the chakra, but something different entirely... ♠ [...I just have bad luck.]

"Indeed." She felt the energy creeping towards her along with Chris, saw it in her Sight: an oily blackness, sliding towards her with a surprising speed. And she let it. Let's see what he's got planned, it would ruin the fun to dispel it now. . Hands held loosely at her side, she now grasped only a small knife, the handle made of what looked like worn, smooth bone.

[I'm not a bad person...]♠ Chris held his sword and lunged at her, delivering a flurry of blows. Perhaps earlier, she had been able to dodge them with ease, but now that he'd awakened more of his power, he was much, much more agile than before. Ideally, he'd be able to weaken her with his strikes, and then perhaps finish her off with a well-placed bite. She wouldn't go down without a fight, though, so he had to be prepared for anything. ♠ [...I just have bad luck.]

Every single blow hit its mark-or would have, had the image of Emma not blurred at the first touch and vanished, the bone knife clattering to the tiles. A voice from behind Chris sounded, echoing in odd places and resonating where it shouldn't have. "Simulacra. A useful trick." She touched him lightly on the back of the neck, leaving a dot of violet fire. "Now, would you like to guess what I've done?"

[I'm not a bad person...]♠ "...Not really." As Emma touched him on the neck, Chris himself began to dissolve into a dark fog, dissipating into the wind. "Though, I think you know what I'm doing right now." He half-smiled at her, then disappeared completely, reforming in another part of the arena, quite some ways away from her. "It's been an interesting exhibition, I must say... but if we keep at it the way were are now, we'll be here forever. Perhaps we should end this particular session and pick it up another time." ♠ [...I just have bad luck.]

"If you wish." she replied quietly, casually picking up the fallen knife and absentmindedly stroking the hilt. "It's been fun...next time we should really pull out all the stops."

[I'm not a bad person...]♠ "Perhaps..." Chris nodded, now fully formed from the fog. "A supreme clash of power might be better held outdoors, methinks." He broke out into a polite grin. "Thank you very much for the exchange, Emma, and for coming all the way out here; you are welcome around our home anytime you wish." ♠ [...I just have bad luck.]

"Definitely...preferably with no flammable vegetation or unstable fault lines around. And it was no trouble at all; you're welcome any time at the estates. A three-way spar might be fun..." she chuckled to herself.
