Magni Prime
In a form of life that does not have reproduction in the same way as we do, familial bonds are not likely. In the prequel comic to the first film, the situation was explained that Optimus and Megatron ruled equally, until Megs turned against the Autobots. That familiarity and camaraderie could be the source of calling him 'Brother.'

Again, without a familiar reproductive cycle such as our own, any references are conjecture, but with the matter of descendants, typically the title of Prime carries with it some sort of upgrade. One such example is in the War Within comics where Optimus is given the Matrix in a chamber and becomes literally bigger with a reformatting of sorts. Such could explain why "Only a Prime could kill the Fallen" . . . one must be that powerful in order to successfully take on another with that same level.

Such could also explain why Megatron is almost equal to Prime, but spends eons just falling short of beating him. A slight power difference between a normal Transformer- no matter how powered up they may be, and a Prime. Megatron did win in the second film, but not through straight combat. He did a rogueish backstab while Prime was calling out for Sam. In short, the same fault that Megs had called Optimus on for eons: caring too much about the weak. Distracted for finding Sam, Optimus left an opening that Megatron could capitalize on.

Back on topic, I agree with Mylian in that some terminology might not translate well from Cybertronian to English- including terms of familiarity. As per the loss of Jazz, he was called a comrade perhaps due to not all TFs present wishing to refer to him as a 'brother' . . . then again, that might have seen to cement the token black guy status of Jazz.

The "Brotha" dun got' killed for bein' black. rolleyes The twins are exponentially worse, and lived . . . I don't notice anybody saying at least the 'Black Transformers' survived this time.

nice......alot of research done here razz

The real sad part? No research. This was done all in one go, using only my mind as a reference point! eek My Transformer knowledge surpasses all in my physical area . . . and is far larger than any person really needs! sweatdrop

im pretty sure optimus is a descendant and megatron is his brother but not directly. throughout the whole series they have been brothers but maybe optimus was chosen as a prime and megatron wasn't and got all evil and took an uzi to his workplace and started killing everyone except one little jet named starscream. starscream then pledged his allegance to megatron and recruited more crooks off the streets of cybertron to destroy the hood of the autobots. They killed almost all of them except the elite of them. The decepticons then tried capturing other hoods throughout the galaxy and succeded for the most part. but then optimus and his conrads starting talking s**t about megs's mom and sis being tramps...megs then called upon the fallen to go ape s**t on them. The fallen did so and also called upon jetfire to do so as well. but then Jetfire was like why cant we be friends and wanted to have a reunion party and the fallen made him stay in vehicle mode for the rest of eternity until one little black kid named Sam transformed him and they saved the world. But other decepticons will always be out there stealing shitand killing innocents. That is what i think happened rofl lololololol

It could be that they were raised together and possibly by the same care taker. They seem to understand family bonds and "parental units".

Who knows maybe they were even design by the same creators.

Or it could be that they were one spark that split into two and became brothers in this sense. Kind of like the Twins Sunstreaker and Sideswipe.
Hm...But then Sunny wasn't in the movie verse was he? Only Sideswipe. I wonder if this means they were seperated or if he simply doesn't exist in the movieverse.

Oh but Muddflap and Skids were also brothers remember!
