~ Natsuki's World ~

History
From the RP Contest: Moonlight glistened against the milky-white flowers that accented the lush green of a meadow. The night air was warm and soothing, and every thing was at peace, everything except the excited swiping of slate-gray paws. Standing on her own out in the middle of this illuminated garden, a young cat swatted and jabbed at the air, slowly making her way from one place to another as she practiced an array of fighting moves. Her skin glistened slightly with the exercise, and her green eyes gleamed pleasantly, an excited smile on her maw. Her tail whipped around as she ducked and spun out with her leg in a high kick, and placing her paws against the grass, she propelled herself back from her invisible foe, flipping and landing in a crouched position with claws at the ready.

With a light sigh, the girl straightened and clapped her hands together before her chest, offering a shallow bow. Grinning from ear to her, she went through a series of stretches before flopping back on the grass and staring up at the full moon. Her chest rose and fell at a gradually slowing pace and the girl thought about life as it was now. She was completely at peace now, doing what she loved, where she loved to be. However, things hadn't always been that way, she acknowledged.

Natsuki. A name of summer and hope.

It had represented so much of the opposite of how she felt months back, when she had ventured too far from home. Huddled in a freezing, shivering ball of grey, the female had cursed her luck, cursed the limiting, confining frozen snow that fell around her. The soft flakes had covered her tracks faster than she could retrace them, leaving her stranded in a place she couldn't identify. At the time, she also cursed her humans, who in her opinion hadn't done a very thorough job of searching for her. She had convinced herself at the time that, had they actually cared for her, she wouldn't have been left alone out in that frozen wasteland.

In truth, the reason she had been abandoned was completely her fault. Had she not squeezed past the humans, and insisted on adventuring outside despite their protests, she surely would have never gotten herself lost. Humans are known to be stupid at times; so could she really blame them for believing her dead? Like a little snow could really snuff out her life...

That's right; this Nastuki was much stronger than a little weather; she was a born fighter, after all. And before long, she had realized the true importance of the name she had been bestowed. For sure enough, the seemingly endless oppression of winter would melt away. The frozen hope still trapped in her heart would thaw. And with the coming spring, the Korat would realize that, like the blossoming flowers, she was to bloom as well. Freedom was the true epitome of summer, and freedom was what the young cat had won for herself. No human would be able to bar her path and tell her where to go.

Natsuki flipped her ears back against the grass and let her eyes slide closed, her breathing back to normal and her heart thumping in a strong, steady rhythm. That's right. She had won the freedom to roam wherever she chose. She had earned herself the freedom to follow her own path in life. And she had realized that she carried within herself, the freedom to hope. Humans were never going to come looking for her again, but that was okay. Being without the two-legged beings was not the end of the world, after all.

For Natsuki was a cat of summer and of hope.

Pushing herself into a seated position, the young Korat gazed off over the hillside, at the small town she once called home. Perhaps it was time for a change of scenery. In order to completely sever herself from such a frustrating past, she would turn to face her future. A new town, filled with hopeful opportunities; Natsuki would lead her own life in freedom from here on out.

New History: Since making that decision that night, Natsuki left her hometown and never looked back. It wasn't long before her wanderings brought her to Ikebukuro, where she soon ran into many new faces. The first cat she met became a instant friend, and one she sticks close by whenever possible. Demi was her name, and she was a little older than Natsuki, about 5 years or so, but she was just as free spirited and energetic and the Korat took an instant liking to her. Demi, being of the protective type, took the wandering cat under her wing with a smile.

Personality: Natsuki is easily excitable and has boundless energy. She's usually very cheerful and seems to have no concept of boundaries. She isn't at all shy and will walk up to anyone that interests her; there's nothing wrong with saying hello, right? She's also very innocent of the world outside of the few things she's dealt with, and can come off as naive.
Outlook: Bright and positive. Everyone's a possible new friend, and nothing can keep her down for long. She's impartial to humans, but when the subject of her former ones are brought up, it strikes a sour note.
Plays Well With Others?: Most definitely. Unless they don't play well back, she'll get along with most anyone.
Likes: Colors, rain, playing, singing, fighting, learning, meeting new cats, her tail, mice, ice cream
Dislikes: Her humans, fire, cold weather, snow, winter, confinement, car alarms, burnt food
Family: N/A
Mate: None

~ Acquaintances ~

Unknown:

Elarinya - Burmese - She's not really very nice, and she seems to be a little stupid, what with her attachment to humans and that collar that might kill her. Even so, she has a good ear for music, and any cat is possible friend material, so I won't give up hope!

Belle - Ragamuffin - She's really pretty, I'll give her that, but I don't think I like the feeling I get around her, especially when I see her hanging out with Demi-nee...

Friends:

Demi - American Bobtail - The first cat I met in this new town. She's really cool, and she doesn't seem to mind being on her own, or my tagging along. Her clothes are pretty wild too!

Fox - Abyssinian/Turkish Angora - Fox has the prettiest fur! He's really nice too, I like him! ^-^

Patch - Siberian - He seems like a good cat! I felt instantly comfortable around him, he kinda gives off the feeling of a big brother... but I've never had one of those so I wouldn't really know, right?

~ Kiew's World ~

History
Kiew began life in a very different place than where she found herself currently. When she was still a young kitten, she lived warm and safe in the home of her humans. Well off themselves, her humans always supplied her with the finest foods and toys, and the younger female delighted in dressing her up in the softest, shiniest brocades. It was a charmed and comfortable life for the young cat, and Kiew enjoyed every minute of it.

One day, she wandered into her young human's bedroom after making her way slowly around the whole house. It was really odd, there were boxes everywhere, some open, some sealed up nice and tight. Of course Kiew investigated every open box she came across and found them to be in varying states of being filled. Her human's mother got quite upset with her when she tried to explore the boxes in the kitchen, and so she found herself here at last. A curious mew alerted the young human girl to her presence and, with tears in her dark eyes, the girl instantly scooped up her beloved cat and hugged her. "Oh, Kiew! Momma and Daddy say we have to move! They're making me leave all my friends behind!" She sobbed into the small cat's black fur, "And we aren't just moving to another city, they said we're moving to a whole other country! We're going to Japan, Kiew, and I'm never going to see any of my friends ever again! It's so unfair!" The small Bombay kitten mewed again, rubbing her face against the human's moist cheek and purring. She didn't understand what was going on, but she really didn't like to see the girl cry.

Her human was usually so cheerful, always smiling and telling her stories. At night they would read fairy tales together. Her human would give a dreamy sigh and tell the small cat all about how nice it would be to be a princess one day, but being a little more mature than the human, Kiew often dreamed about how nice it would be just to find a perfect love like that.

It seemed as if the house she shared with her humans was no longer adequate though, and so they were moving all of the stuff in it to a new house. Kiew didn't see anything wrong with this, of course, the idea of a new house excited the curious cat, but her young human was very distraught over it. Bouncing out of the sobbing girl's arms, the black kitten reached up and grabbed hold of a small stuffed rabbit -- smelling thickly of the girl, it was her favorite toy -- before dragging it over to an open box and jumping inside with it. Releasing the toy, the kitten mewed and mewed until the human's face appeared over the lip of the box. With a smile and a loud purr, Kiew curled up with the rabbit and flicked her ear. It would be okay, she was saying, they still had each other, after all. As if she understood, the girl smiled and wiped at her eyes, then left to get a few more toys to put in the box. "You're right Kiew... I still have you, and you're my best friend! I can make more friends at my new school, and I'll still be able to write to the ones I have here, right?" The black cat mewed again and rubbed against the hands that reached in to pull her out of the box. Together, the girl and cat packed the room until all that was left was her bed and one book. Their last fairy tale in this fine house.

Early the next morning, the two of them were roused and the human girl's bed was torn down to be packed for the move. The girl removed the red dress she had put on her cat the day before and replaced it with a checked blue bow. "Momma says we should dress comfortably because our nice clothes would get messed up on the plane, and that we wouldn't like them after a while anyway. How does that feel, Kiew? Do you like it? The ribbon is soft, isn't it?" Pawing at the tendrils that hung over her shoulder, the kitten looked up at the human with bright orange eyes and mewed lightly. Shortly after, the older female called them and they were packed into the car.

They had to put Kiew into a carrier because she wasn't allowed to run freely on the ferry, and so the small cat was packed with the luggage. It was a little insulting for the pampered cat, but she dealt with it, there was a fine silk blanket in the carrier, after all. It was in the cargo hold that the trouble began. Somehow during the length of the trip, one of the humans had misplaced her after a feeding and potty break. The person in charge had been treating several cats at once an hadn't paid attention when putting them back, and when they docked in Japan, Kiew found herself with a new family. The Bombay couldn't believe her eyes when a whole bunch of unfamiliar faces looked in on her suddenly. The family had brought her all the way back to their home in Ikebukuro before the youngest son noticed the elegant blue ribbon tied around his cat's neck.

After the initial confusion, the family decided it would be difficult to locate where the switch had occurred and find Kiew's rightful owners, and so they decided they would keep her and care for her instead. The small Bombay, however, wasn't at all thrilled by the idea. She missed her little girl terribly and wailed often for her. This new family's home was painfully tiny, and the black cat felt trapped and forlorn. The humans themselves were nice enough, but they just couldn't replace the family she had been separated from. Finally, Kiew couldn't stand it any longer and decided to go in search of her family herself. She slipped from the house easily enough, these people were very careless when opening doors, but the young cat had no way of knowing that she was miles from her beloved humans. After nearly a week on her own and with no results, Kiew finally collapsed from exhaustion and buried her face in her paws. Realization was slowly setting in that the comfortable, safe life she had known was over. A deep pain stung in her chest, and a lonliness threatened to drown her for good as she curled up into a tight ball and willed sleep to take her.

It took several months for the Chinese Bombay to finally snap herself out of the depression and the pain of her loss, and when she had finally managed to do so she was able to smile again. Unfortunately, this did not occur without leaving some scars, the young cat's mind had formed some pretty bizarre and twisted conclusions about life and relationships from the experience. From these conclusions was born the Kiew who now roams the streets of Ikebukuro. Safe behind the created persona, the still injured and fragile black kitten hides herself away, unwilling to let herself be healed, and unwilling to give life another chance to hurt her again.

Personality: Sweet and innocent at face value, but a little more manipulative beneath that. She's very intelligent, and while she has nothing wrong with others, she's looking out primarily for herself. Her face is warm, but her heart is cold. She doesn't like to get too personal with other cats.
Outlook: Cautious. She enjoys the company of others, but is worried about being hurt by them, so she makes friends carefully and keeps them at a distance.
Plays Well With Others?: Despite her personality, she is very pleasant to be around. She will sit and talk with other cats, play with them, and even share her meals with them.
Likes: Flowers, Clear skies, Manga (Especially romance genre), Chocolate, Strawberries, Napping in the sun, Learning
Dislikes: Rainy Days (unless someone has an umbrella they're willing to share), Overcast days, Bland food, Shoes, Ugly colors, Lightning
Family: Brother: Laken
Mate: None
