Alonthra Waking Ned Devine is a definate MUST see. It is hillarious..... too true! that is the funniest movie i've seen in a long time. The scene with the phone booth.. and the fiddle... I crack up every time. "Evelyn" was really good too. Pierce Brosnan in a serious role was kind of freaky though.

Michael Collins was a good enough film, Evelyn was really good, The Wind that Shakes The Barley is supposed to be good I haven't seen it yet.

thecomicbookgirl I love breakfast on pluto, michael collins, inside i'm dancing... hmm, i need more time to think about this. my drama teacher was in the commitments! woop!
Inside I'm dancing is great! So funny and sad at the same time.
Chiki32 Michael Collins was a good enough film, Evelyn was really good, The Wind that Shakes The Barley is supposed to be good I haven't seen it yet.
It's not good, it's great! Though you almost certainly won't be very happy with the English after you see it xp

Most people have seen Boondock Saints and Waking Ned Devine (I haven't seen Waking Ned Devine on the account that my grandmother said it's one of the best movies ever made). Ultimately, though, Irish movies have very little international appeal. I go to the Chicago International film festival, and nobody goes to see the films that come in from Ireland. Japanese movies, however, sell out faster then others.
And considering just how Scenic Ireland is, why is it that Irish movies have a limited appeal? Only Irish people bother to see them (Boondock Saints is the exception), and why is that? The international appeal is, as I've noticed, simply nonexistant.
I have another question. I don't think it's an Irish film. It may be American, I don't know. It's an animated film about an Irish explorer who goes to Japan. He spends several years in Japan and returns to his homeland as the only Irish Samurai. It was shown at the Chicago International Film Festival.
