Rath had one arrow left. But it wouldn't be too useful right now anyway. He placed the bow back onto his back, and stuffed the arrow into his belt. He spun his Talwar in his hand and raised it up. This weapon would be much more useful for close combat. Rath paid no attention to the cut he had received. Worrying about it would do nothing. If the poisoned knife had cut him, he'd find out soon enough. He stared at the assassin coldly, ready to read his movements, whatever they turned out to be.

Pietro opened one of his eyes as he began to toss his dagger up in the air, making it spun before landing in his hands. "Tsk, tsk, it seems you're down to your last arrow. Oh, I hope you'll use it wisely. Otherwise, it would not be fun at all."

One minute, he was talking to the nomad, tossing his dagger up in the air. The next minute, he was up closed to the horseman, face to face. Pietro quickly struck his attack. Though it seemed that he had swung once, the attack looked like he had launched twelve strikes at once. The nomad was quickly to counterattack his parry before swing his blade.

The assassin jumped back and did a somersault backflip before charging at the nomad attack. Before the nomad was about to attack, Pietro suddenly disappeared in front of him. It was as if the jester was a mirage. Oh, where could that assassin disappear to?

Suddenly, the assassin appeared next to him and gave a low kick to make the nomad fell. Pietro quickly placed his foot on the horseman's sword while pinning him with his Comedy, the non-poisoned dagger to his neck. The jester let out a sinister smirk with his one eye opened.

"Well, it's fun while it lasts. However, the show must end."

Before he could slit the horseman's neck, he heard a sudden cry. What this? This cry was not of a human. No, indeed it was not. It was a cry of a falcon. And there were very few of that type of bird. That could only mean one thing. One of his spies had send the bird to deliver a message. A message that his baroness needed him. The jester gave a small pout before turning to the nomad.

"Well, well, it seems you're in luck." Pietro gave out his foxy smile. "If my man hadn't call me, you would be dead by now."

He quickly jumped off the horseman and did another somersault backflip. Placing one hand behind his back, Pietro took his hat and gave a bow.

"Perhaps another time we shall play again. It was enjoyable to have a strange but wonderful actor like you around." The jester smirked before an arrow sped right between his closed eye. However, the arrow had flew right through him and the image of himself had disappeared. It seemed that the jolly jester had left another trick at the end. However, this time, the smiling jester was gone for good.

As he was pinned to the ground, he had quickly drawn his arrow from his belt and had held it up to puncture the assassin deeply in the wrist that held the poisoned dagger. But, it seemed the assassin didn't care. He had full intent of killing Rath, even if it meant he eventually died because of it, or lost the ability to wield a weapon in that hand.

But then, the caw of a falcon disrupted the tension. Rath jumped to his feet, as the assassin jumped away, and swiftly began to take out his bow. He aimed it and fired directly at the man's face, but he was too late, and the assassin escaped. Rath glanced around, but heard, nor sensed his presence any longer. He was gone.

Rath put his bow back upon his back, as well as sheathed his blade, and went over and picked up the rest of quiver that had been cut off. He made a silent whistle, and his horse came trotting out of the woods, having not gone too far. The nomad then replaced his broken quiver for one of his replacements, full of arrows, and put it on. Without a single word he mounted his horse once more, and made his way out of the forest, down the hill, and toward the capital of Mordache. But the scar was still on his back.

---

The sun was almost completely down, by the time he arrived at the gates of the city. But that was perfect. It would make things much easier. He dismounted, and left his horse by the side of the wall. He had a good horse. He got him when he was very young, and trained him well over the years. The horse was smart enough to stay out of trouble. He would be fine, while the rider was away. After timing when the guards weren't around, Rath scaled the walls and made his way into the city, unseen. It was night, but there were still a few people wandering about the streets. Overall, it seemed like an ordinary city. There wasn't anything out of the ordinary. The buildings looked a little different, but that was to be expected. Still, this was the capital. it wasn't the same as the rest of the country.

Rath made his way, through allies and secondary pathways, until he got near the castle gates. The guards were absent for some reason, but now wasn't the time for questioning why. It was the perfect chance. But just as Rath was about to make his move, two cavaliers, one in red and one in green rode up, escorting a dark woman in red armor, who was bound with her hands behind her back. Two chains, one for each cavalier, kept the girl from escaping. They made their way to the castle gates and flung her to the ground, when they got there. Several guards then came from within the castle and confronted the two cavaliers. Rath could hear what they said, but only barely. Nomadic skills did come in handy, quite often.

"Sir Epimetheus! Sir Mendeleev! We've been expecting you!"
"We've captured our target. She put up quite a fight, but we were able to overpower her in number. Inform the Baroness that we have returned. We will escort this girl to her new cell, now."
"Yes sir!"
"Geeze, Mende, lighten up, they're just common guards. Don't need to be so commanding with them."
"Let's be on our way, brother..."
"Yeah, yeah... you're no fun. As always."

With that, they tightened the slack on the chains, and proceeded inside the castle. The guards followed immediately. Rath stared a moment, unable to really take in what he had just seen. One word managed to escape him.

"...Deborah."

Not insistent on dwelling on her, Rath made his way to the side of the castle wall. Going in the front door would be stupid. He made his way to the side, then around to the back of the castle. He saw an old stone stairway, and wet down it. Then he found it. The man from Estarcia was right, there was a secret door. Rath pulled out the key he was given by that man, and opened the door slowly. Inside, was nothing but a dark room. The moonlight that made its way in, revealed a dusty room, that seemed to be scarcely used. Cobwebs hung from almost everything, and the furniture was scattered about, and papers everywhere. It was as if all had forgotten the room existed. Rath spotted a door at the other side of the room and opened it with the same key he had. From there, he walked into what appeared to be the lowest level of the castle. Rath took out a torch from his supplies and took the effort to get it lit. After he did so, he made his way cautiously throughout the level. He needed to get higher. He needed to find out where the prison cells were. He needed to learn.

Eventually, he made his way into a lighted area, and doused his torch. From here on, things got dangerous. Guards could be around any corner. And here he was, an intruder, within Mordache castle's walls. It was crazy... but also necessary. Up ahead, he heard voices again. They were the same two voices he had heard outside. Rath got closer to get a better ear on the situation.

"Man, she sure is a looker, though..."
"Enough. Talk like that does no good."
"Aw, shut it, I'm just being honest!"
"Sirs! The Baroness has been informed of your arrival, and welcomes you back. She suggests you take a good rest, having just come back from your mission."
"Now you're talking! A break is just what I need. Let's go eat, brother!"
"Sorry, no. I'll meet up with you later. Good night."
"Seriously. No. Fun. Ever. Aw well, g'night!"
"Sir!"

The people then left the room. The one soldier had come from up the stairs, which meant that was were the Baroness was. After checking if the coast was clear, he slyly made his way up the stairwell.

He managed to make it all the way to the top without being seen. A few guards made their way down, but Rath was able to remain out of sight. It had become second nature to him, by now. Rath slowly made his way to the largest door, clearly the throne room. Behind the door, he could hear voices. He pressed his ear against the door, to hear better. Now was his chance to learn something. Even if it was something small.

Later that night, a prisoner went missing, as did a few special items. No trace was found of either. And none would be. They were abducted by a very sneaky, nomadic ghost.
