"It would be nice to know how she is doing. I'm not lonely though. Yue is good company, when he is not being a pest and getting underfoot or being terrified of a stranger. And one gets rather used to being on one's own. It has it's perks."
Hoshi watched the little colt steady himself. "I think less might be better than more. Or you might never get your balance back."

"I couldn't do it. After a while I think I'd start to miss my family... a little, at least. Not that I'd get scared or anything; I'm a brave adventurer." And someday... someday I'll go off on my own. If a lady monster can do it and not get lonely, so can I! But I don't care what she says; I don't want to stay on my own. I'll go back to my family every now and then to check up on them, scare away any monsters that threaten them, and tell them stories about all of the crazy places I've been it. I'll do it!
"That would be most unfortunate. And I'd probably dig a hole in the ground and then I'd never get out." Prabhat smiled brightly at the lady monster, but suddenly he felt horribly homesick. "I'd never get out." What if my parents move on without me? What if they forget about me? I could be lost out here forever! And I'll be on my own, and I'll need a little two legged beast to help keep me sane, and I'll never, ever go home again.
I wonder if dad is looking for me now...

Hoshi smiled. "You're a good kid. If I ever have foals, I hope they are as brave and considerate as you."
She noticed him looking restless, and had a good guess as too why. " You know, I bet your family misses you. Even brave adventurer's moms and dads worry if they don't see them for a while. Maybe you should go visit them before having any more adventures. Do you need company on the way back?" What she really meant was did he need help, but she knew how that would go over if she phrased it that way.

Prabhat blushed at the compliment and found himself at an unprecedented loss for words. She liked him, even though he had called her a monster. He would have to be try and be nicer to strange mares he met in the forest on later occasions. And pay her back by rescuing her during some heroic adventure later in his life. She really was the nicest lady monster he'd ever met.
"Yes, I bet they do too," he said, grabbing at a graceful way to return home. "Company would be nice. You sure are awfully fun to talk too. My herd is... well, I think it's that way." He smiled encouragingly at the mare. "They tend to wander a bit, but I bet by now they've noticed I'm gone. I bet my father is looking for me right now."And indeed he was. Farther into the forest, Abhyagni was growing desperate, afraid, and confused. "Prabhat!" he shouted in a hoarse voice. He feared the worst, but didn't dare voice it out loud. If his thoughts escaped his mouth, then they would become true. He just had to keep searching. He would find his son.

Hoshi nodded. "Shall we then?" she gestured for him to lead, since 'that way' covered a lot of ground. It was almost funny how relieved he looked when she offered him a way to start home that didn't hurt his pride. "I bet he's worried, having his second in command gone and all. Who will protect the herd from monsters if you're not there?" she couldn't resist one last tease.

Prabhat glossed right over Hoshi's teasing tone. "My father's strong, but it's always good to have a second set of eyes. One day I'll be bigg and strong like him."
Increasingly desperate, Abhyagni decided to try just one last time. "PRABHAT!" he bellowed at the top of his lungs.
Prabhat pricked his ears forward as he heard his name. "My father! Oh, I'm in for it now." He grimaced, but there was very little he could do about how much trouble he was in. "COMING," he bellowed back.
"It was nice meeting you," Prabhat said politely. "Hopefully I'll see you again one day. Stay safe, my dear lady monster." With one last happy smile over his shoulder, Prabhat pranced through the bushes to where he knew his father was waiting.

"Indeed. Fare well, youngling."
The young colt safely delivered, Hoshi smiled. He had been an odd one, that was for sure. Perhaps she would consider having one after all. If she ever found a stallion worth keeping around for a bit, that is. But that was a thought for another time. For now, she gave a soft wicker, calling Yue to her from where he had been wandering, and with a light step she headed out towards a stream she could hear gurgling in the distance.
((I think we're done here. Later, maybe we can have her meet adult Prabhat or something, if you're interested?))
