He saw the way she kept an eye out, though he did little to help. After all, this was her secret, not his own, and he didn't particularly feel the need to aid her after she was doing everything in her power to get under his skin. Still, as she sat down, he did so as well and turned his emerald eyes up to her patiently. He might not have been all that keen on sharing his own secrets, but he wanted to know just what it was that had her dragging him out to the borders just to talk about.

As she spoke, he followed along, listening and trying to imagine the events as they happened. He felt a twinge of mirth at the thought of a rogue lioness getting riled up over her cubs becoming sacrifices - he had a feeling a lot of lions reacted that way, and no doubt he would have too before he found peace in the pride's ways. He knew his own daughter might have been raised as a sacrifice had she been born into the pride instead of coming to it with him. Outsiders didn't see the honor in it, that was for sure. He tried not to let that thought process distract him too terribly, though, as she didn't seem quite done with her tale. When she finished, it was like a blow, and he sat very quiet for some time, unsure of what to say. She was trusting him, for some reason - was it all just to get his story?

"So you killed you mate because he strayed?" he asked calmly, his eyes steady on her as he processed the thoughts. Well, if he was a veteran, he might not have had a long time to live regardless - he would have been a sacrifice soon enough. Yet, did he deserve that honor if he was betraying those he apparently cared for? Maybe she had not only done herself a favor, but the pride as well. "It's not usually our right to deal justice, but I suppose he was a coward in the end, and justice used what vessel it could." His brows furrowed a little and he shrugged, though he knew now he had her secret with him, and he had to wonder if that meant she'd be pestering him more.

"What do you want then? I imagine you didn't tell me that for the attention." His gaze narrowed on her minimally, but he still wasn't willing to offer up much unless she asked for it herself. He still wanted to find a way to protect himself from retelling the raw parts of his story.

A wry grin formed on her face, "I am glad you see it that way. Raruo did not. Then again, my traitorous ex was has best friend."

Akel'dama had been consumed with rage and irrationale. The tried her best to justify it in her own mind, and to Raruo. Thankfully, this lion understood.

"As you can see, there is very little pain left for me when it comes to my story. Yours must still be very raw. That's too bad - keeping it bottled up inside only makes it worse. You'll find that once you let it out, things get better. That's why I told Raruo. He wasn't as understanding as you though, hahaha!" She laughed bitterly.

"What I want to know if your story."

He frowned at her as she began to go on about telling his best friend, trying to decide if she had used the story to bait that poor fellow, or if he'd simply found out. In any case, he decided she'd taken a little too much joy in it all even if it was justified in a twisted way - he'd be sure to never cross her if he could help it. He didn't want to be the cause for her next dose of justice.

"It's not bottled up," he said with a bit of a 'tsk' sound added to the end, his emerald eyes narrowing on her figure once more. This conversation was an odd one and even if it hadn't been pushing his buttons he would have felt uncomfortable. "I've spoken of it to my daughter plenty," though he didn't say this quite as confidently as he had intended - the words ended in an almost mumble.

With a resigned sigh, he looked down at his paws, brows furrowed into a deep 'v' as he decided exactly where to start. He wasn't going to get away from this without telling her his story, and he knew that now. "I left my original pride when I met Embamba wandering away from her own. She was weak, attempting to kill herself, basically, out of depression I think." He frowned at the thought, but merely rolled his shoulders as he coped with the discomfort of the memories. "I helped her back to her pride, and we became mates. We had cubs, though that was a risk in itself - she was much older than me, and sick as well." He let out a long sigh then and took a long pause, staring at his paws as if he were seeing something else, and trying not to all at once. "The cubs grew up, and all was well, or so I assumed. At least until the day I woke up and she was gone. I waited a couple of days for her to come home, thinking maybe she was on a hunting trip, but she didn't. I left with my daughter, and we searched, but," he brought up a paw and waved it in the direction of the pride, "we obviously never found her."

There was silence, not long after, though, it was followed by a laught.
"Oh, our stories are more a parallel then I ever thought they could be!"

Akel stood, and began circling the lion, her motions sharp, but in a way, fluid. She letthe tip of her tail smack Issy an the cheek.
"Both of us, in over our heads, with mates older than ourselves that would, inevitably, claw out our hearts, distort them, and place them back inside our chests and send us on our merry way! Haha!" There was that bitter laugh again.

"Sure, sure, you tell your daughter but what good is she? She who bares your mate's blood and a piece of her weak, pathetic soul. What good does that do?" Akel was having fun. She lowered her voice and looked Issy in the eye -- "You are far to easy a target, my dear Isithunzi. Your trouble weighs upon you, and grips you like the jaws of the finest huntress around the neck of the plagued wildabeast!"

He let his gaze flicker up to the female as she stood to begin walking around him, his thoughts immediately suspicious of what she was about to start spouting now. He jerked his head away with a light huff as she smacked him with her tail, despite the act not really being all too painful. Tossing back his rusty mane from his eyes, he glanced over his shoulder at her, listening to what she was saying as he began to follow her with his eyes once more.

He had to admit, what she was saying was true, even if it was painful to hear her say in such.. blunt terms. Emba had ripped out his heart, even if he had no idea whether or not she'd done it on purpose. She was so sick, she could have just - no. He cut off the thought, forcing himself not to go making excuses again. It was just then, however, that he heard her begin to take it out on his daughter.

"She's good for a lot more than you're giving her credit for," he said with a faint growl in the undertone of his voice. He pushed himself up to his feet, rounding to look at her with narrowed eyes. "Emba was not an unfaithful, heartless b*****d like your mate and she was strong when it mattered. You have no right to judge her." He shook his head, gritting his teeth as he did so. "Keep your judgments to yourself, Akel, and to those close to you - if you've any of those left." He knew he was not normally so cruel, and normally he wouldn't have bothered to come back at someone, but she was stepping over her boundaries insulting his family.

The more riled he got, the more fun this became. Akel really didn't let insults get to her, but oh was it just so much fun to see them make others squirm. Truth be told, from her earliest days the only way she got attention was by being someone's antagonist. Some habits were just hard to break.

"Really now, you're far too attached. In the end, both our mates are just alike." She then walked back and fourth in front of him, and recited, almost like a poem;
To love eachother, and to never see eachother again -- those two lines were enver meant to be crossed. When they are, pain, suffocation, lonliness, and heartbreak are the result. A person would have to be heartless to cause such pain, such actions. We both fell in love,..." She then grinned, and stood there before him as she finished- "With heartless beasts."

He felt his jaw tightening as she pranced back and forth before him, because he could see the pleasure she was taking in this rolling off of her, almost in visible waves. His tail lashed behind him, his body tensing, every muscle in him wound tighter and tighter as the seconds ticked by.

As her words washed over him, he finally snapped, his voice barreling out from him like a whip - a spring unleashed. "I don't have to stay here and listen to your nonsense, you little sadist," he turned his back on her then, his rusty mane tossing with the sharp motion, and began to walk back in the direction they had come. The one thing he had yet to notice is that she had already replaced the hollow emptiness he had felt with something else. Even if all it was was a raging fire, it was still something.

Akel gave a dark chuckle as he began to walk off. "It's about time that there was some life in you."

And now that she had her dose of 'I r annoying' it was time for her to head back, and bask in her satisfaction. Akel followed behind Issy - a looming, ever so annoying, presence, with bright blue eyes gleaming with sadistic glee.
