Etain was on the verge of opening her mouth to say that no she hadn't seen either of them in a very long time - indeed that Udi was the only family member she'd managed to come across when out of the blue came a familiar voice shouting both of their names! Aquila? Etain jerked her head in the direction of the voice, happiness flashing through her eyes - it was Aquila! Etain had always fancied her sister the prettier between them - with her golden body and violet wings, mane an tail.
"Well now! speaking of family..."
She said with a chuckle casting a glance to Udi.
"Speak and it seems they shall appear"
Turning back to Aquila who was cantering towards them.
"Aquila! Its been so long"

Uid turned toward the sound of wings and his sister's voice. It had been quite a while since he had seen his sister Aquila. She still looked just as she had the last time he had spoken with her. Maybe his meeting his sisters was a sign he needed to spend more time with his family? Well, no need to dwell on thoughts right now. He was just glad to see her.
"You look well sister." He cringed at the line, okay so maybe it had been too long. He had never been good with words but this was the first time he had seen his sisters in a long time. If he couldn't do better than that he would be ashamed of himself. "It has been a while hasn't it?"
Udi couldn't remember the last time he'd felt so happy. He really should spend more time with his own kind as opposed to his own world he'd been hiding in.
(((Okay yeah my muse is gone for the moment.. so it's a little drab sorry guys.)))

Aquila grinned weakly at the pair, stretching her tired wings a few times before settling them by her sides. "Hey guys... Yea it has been a while." Some happy reunion this was going to be... though she supposed she had some good news to pass on as well, that was something. "I'm doing alright, yea, you guys look good too... Look though, I've got some news. Some good news, and some bad news actually. I guess I'll give you the good news first."
So far as she was aware they both knew of their father's first three children with Bastet, but they might not know that one of them had run away. Still, even if they hadn't know and therefore hadn't been concerned it was good news. "So good news piece one is that Sekhmet's finally come back, seems she was running away from the possibility of an arranged mating... She's fixed that issue for herself by joining the Katilenuck. She says she plans to make life a bit better for all the slaves she meets though so... yea, that's where she's been. Other bit of good news is we've got two more half sisters; Sabina and Alejandra. They're still tiny, less than a season old and they're very cute..."
Now for the bad news. Oh drek she did not want to have to pass this on. "Umm... Well the bad news though is that riruy's disappeared. He vanished from the herd a few suns ago, I arrived there yesterday and then left again looking for him. Bastet said he was acting kinda weird before he disappeared too... I'm sorry I have to tell you this after not having seen you both for so long but I couldn't just not tell you until we'd had a chance to catch up."

Etain wasn't sure exactly what tipped her off to the fact that Aquila's arrival may not be the joyous occasion she had at first thought. perhaps it was her weak smile or tone of voice - Perhaps Aquila had just changed she told herself - it had after all been quite a while. Her sisters words dashed that thought however and Etain settled somewhat as she spoke. The carefree conversation with Udi seemed well and done - and it seemed of all of them Aquila had remained the most connected to the rest of the family.
Though she had heard of her father's new mate Etain had never endeavored to make herself known to her or the pairs resulting children. It wasn't that she held any ill thoughts towards them - not really, although she was quite aware that while they were fully accepted within the herd she and her siblings were considered the result of her fathers illegitimate fling. And well she had never been completely sure just how to introduce herself - somehow 'hello there I'm the baggage you inherited when you were mated with my sire' didn't seem appropriate.
Aquila however seemed to be in touch with them - and even seemed fairly close to them so perhaps her earlier worries had been misfounded and it was time to put such thoughts to rest. And she had wanted to see her father again...
"Well I expect we'll have to make it a point to see these two new additions to the family..."
She started, and of course the older half-siblings and perhaps even her father's not so new - but still new to Etain - mate. Though she left that point unstated.
"...after we locate Riruy of course, I don't expect anyone saw him leaving then?"

Where had Diego gone now? Udi wondered. The last time he had spoken with his Riruy it was about his soon to be mate Bastet. As far as siblings went, well he hadn't had any news on the subject. It really had been longer than Udi had thought since he had seen or spoken with his family. Now he had half siblings that he never even knew existed. When they found Riruy he would definitely have to do some catching up.
"To be honest I didn't even know about our half siblings, but I did meet Bastet. That was the last time I talked with him." The Jala stallion thought for a few moments. Where should they begin looking for Diego? There was the ocean, that's where Udi went when he wanted to get away. Then again he wasn't too much like Diego so maybe he would go somewhere else?
"So no one knows why he left or where he went?" This would definitely be tricky then. Especially if there wasn't even a clue to what direction he went. "Is there anywhere we should look first?" He couldn't just let his father leave the herd. It had been a long time since Udi had ever had anything to do with the herd but he still couldn't allow his father to run from his responsibilities. Especially if he had family to take care of.

Aquila sighed and shook her head. "Nobody seems to have seen him go, that was pretty much what they'd established by the time I arrived. Search teams have gone out in all directions, I'm headed due south to check out a stretch of Quirne. There's slower teams behind doing more thorough sweeps, but I and some others are moving fast to try to catch up with any recent news of him." It seemed depressingly futile to her after how well Sekhmet had disappeared, they'd probably never have found her if she hadn't come back of her own accord. Still, they had to try. Just shrugging their wings and moving on with life wasn't an option.
"Nobody knows exactly why he left either," Aquila went on with a miserable shake of her head. "All we know is that he was acting very strangely before he vanished; tossing his head a lot and muttering, and, well just generally being weird." Sort of... crazy. She couldn't believe that anyone could go from normal to insane in just a few suns, but something had clearly been very wrong with her father. If he hadn't just snapped, what had been wrong? Was he frightened of something? Had he done something he wanted to run away from? It was awful to think things like that about him but... well why else would he have left? Crazy, or fleeing from something. Maybe both.

Oh dear...it was bad enough that he had disappeared but by Aquila's description it seemed somewhat worse then Diego wandering off to be alone, or indulge himself in some fling - which terrible as it may sound had been her first thought. She shifted her weight slightly in thought ruffling her wing feathers.
"I do hope he hasn't got into anything bad..."
She stated, recalling tales during her travels of strange plants which could make one act a tad strange, as far as she knew though such plants didn't grow in that area, of course she'd been quite young and had never really been interested in such things the last time she was there so who knew?
"You don't think he could be sick or some such? thumped his head or something awful..."
Oh dear her thoughts were going to dark places and now she rather wished she's kept on thinking he'd gone off to have a fling - such a thing seemed a vast improvement over mind altering plants, disease or head wounds.
"If you don't mind the extra eye's I should like to help you search Aquila."

Udi nodded in agreement. He would help too. His relationship with his riruy hadn't been very close but he that didn't mean he wouldn't help look for him. Family was family, whether you knew them well or not.
"I'll help too of course." He wasn't sure what he was getting himself into. If his riruy wanted to disappear he was sure it wouldn't be easy to find him. Although he wasn't entirely sure of what state they would find him in. What had happened to Diego? This wasn't just some rebellious fling, no his father seemed to be pretty well over that. This was definitely something else. He swished his tail aimlessly as he thought.
"I'm not sure what's happened to him but he needs to be found whether he wants to be or not." There he was stating the obvious again. "I'm thinking we should probably split up. All of us being together won't do too much good. I do think we should have a way to communicate or a spot to meet and share our findings."

Phew, she was really quite relieved at the offer of help, but then deflated again almost right away as Udi suggested the split up. It made sense... or did it? It sounded like it did, they'd cover more ground, but she really wasn't an expert on searching for people, she was actually pretty awful at it. Whenever she'd looked for a missing person, she had failed to find them. Maybe Udi or Etain would have better luck.
"Yea... splitting up makes sense," she said eventually, reluctantly. "I guess we could all meet back at the herdlands... Or at least report any findings back there, hanging around waiting for each other if there's more searching to be done doesn't make sense. Our grandfather's coordinating everything so... I guess, maybe, we could all sweep south but apart sort of... east/westwards." She'd wanted to travel with them, to have company, reassurance but that wasn't a practical option. The more eyes the better, and the more ground those eyes covered the better. It made sense. She wished it didn't.

Etain bobbed her head slightly, tail swishing in thought as she contemplated the plans being made. They sounded good in theory - and while she wished to spend more time with her siblings well...there would be time enough for that after they found their father. She didn't consider the fact that they may not find him, it wasn't really an option to stop looking for a missing father afterall and those poor little foals so young - she didn't want to think about how she would have felt without him as a little foal.
"Those plans sound good - but we probably ought to make sure to stop back in at the herd regularly, wouldn't do after all to be pointlessly searching if someone else finds him, and we should probably make sure others know where we plan to be looking until our next check in - that way if we find him and he won't come back we'll know someone else will be arriving to help when we don't check in...or you know in case whatever is wrong with him is... contagious"
Well there was those awful thoughts again. Still as awful as they were to consider someone had to voice them.

Contagious. Could it really be? As much as he didn't want it to be it would make sense. Why else would his father leave? Especially with foals to take care of. Perhaps he didn't want anyone else catching what he had. Or perhaps his riruy's mental health just wasn't as strong as it used to be. He was in charge of the herd. Eventually anyone would probably crack under such an immense amount of pressure.
Sometimes he wished Etain wasn't so perceptive. It made him think of things he really didn't want to. Though when they found Diego he was coming back. Whether he liked it or not. Udi noticed how solemn his sisters' looked. He was supposed to be the one to cheer them up. Udi flicked his tail as he remembered his childhood. Always playing tricks on his parents and his Waru. How he missed those days. Perhaps after his Trie was back they could catch up and be more like a family again.
He did still have to try to cheer his sisters' up though. "Maybe you'll catch it Etain and it'll turn you into a zombie. Then what will Aquila and I do? Two zombies in the family, that might not look so good." Maybe if he joked a little their hearts would lighten and make finding Diego a little easier.

Aquila grinned and shook her head; she had missed Udi's weird sense of humor. "Yea, that would really spoil our reputation, so no turning into zombies for any of us..." Now she had to leave them again, just as she'd found them and was starting to remember how much she'd missed both of them. The rest of her siblings too. She wondered where they were today, if they were alright, if they'd found mates or started families or... She didn't have time. No time to worry about them, not right now.
"I... I guess we should head off," she said with a heavy sigh. "I'll head further east and then go south. If we all head to Qurine, look around the area for say three suns and then head back we should arrive at more or less the same time." She knew she travelled quite slowly, so she would have to go for longer each sun to make up for it. It would be tiring, but she was tough, she'd live.
"If none of us have any luck and we manage to get back to the herd at about the same time, I guess we can work out what to do from there." Estavan would know what to do... at least he would look as though he knew what to do while he gave out the orders. He was a good leader, her grandsire, but she worried about him, he was getting old, he didn't deserve to have to deal with things like this.

"Don't worry Udi - if I turn into a Zombie I'll make sure to come back and infect you two next then none of us will have to deal with the loss of rep"
Etain replayed with an amused voice. She was reminded of their time together as foals.
"Your so weird Udi"
She stated fondly with a shake of her head before refocusing on Aquila who in typical Aquila fashion was off making plans again. three sun's that ought to give her enough time for a decent look around Etain thought to herself.
"I guess I'll see you guys there then...hopefully one of us will have some good luck."
She finished stretching her wings out in preparation to leave.

Udi nodded. "I guess I am aren't I?" He really didn't want to have to leave now. He had forgotten just how much he missed his family. Unfortunately finding Diego was now on the top of his list for Priorities.
Checking the stretch of beach would be easy enough. Too easy really. If his father didn't want to be found he most likely wasn't going to be easily spotted just roaming the beach. Udi would need to pay more attention to the trees and brush. This wasn't going to be easy but it had to be done.
"I guess we should be off then?" He really hated good byes but they needed to be going. Who knows what sort of situation Diego was in.
"I'll see you all in about three suns. Hopefully we'll have found riruy." Udi then started to flex his wings in preparation for the long journey ahead.

Well, this was it then. Aquila smiled at her siblings and spread her own pinions. SHe had a lot of ground to cover, and there was no sense putting off her departure. Once they found their father they would have pleanty of time to catch up, laugh together, tease one another... It would be good, something to look forward to in the midst of her worries.
"Good luck and fine winds then guys," she said with a bob of her head, "see you both soon."
If she lingered longer she was going to want to suggest they all just travel together, and that would be no good at all. Giving her brother and sister one last smile, Aquila sprang away and after only a few paces launched herself into the air. No time for fun and games, she had a father to find.
