Mir flipped the knife closed and tucked it down her shirt.
Might as well... could be the best place for it. She adjusted her gloves and looked over at Aidan. "Fair enough. You should probably lead then. I know i could get there, but you could probably get there faster." Mir grinned. "Unless that would be cheating too."

Aidan flashed a not so happy smile.
“Ya got that right.” He pointed straight ahead. I mean how hard was it to find the university from here? It was technically straight ahead. He watched her determination; it was refreshing to see one so dedicated to something. It had been a long time since he had met a kindred spirit in that category. Not to mention she was just as stubborn as he. Yes they would more than likely but heads constantly, but as long as she did not try to take his position he was fine, when she started trying to be master he would put her in her place, but hopefully not as he had to do to the others.

Mir nodded silently, judging the distance to the ground. Stepping back a few paces she ran to the edge of the building and jumped landing on a metal awning before the ground running. She ran forward, heading through a back alley that would take her out to a street and on the other side was the university. Pausing only to let the cars go by, Mir darted across the street into the nearly empty parking lot. She stopped for a moment, searching for the garden where the koi pond in question lay. Making up her mind, she headed for a fence that had vines creeping over it. Grabbing one of these vines, she scaled the fence and dropped to the other side, eyes probing the area around her.

Aidan kept up easily, his legs being much longer than hers. He nodded to himself as she made her way to the correct area. She remembered her surroundings and paths well; it was a good quality to have. He leaped over the fence, holding onto the vines for support and sat there. Watching to see what the female would do next. For him this was merely a game of observation. He would view with a outsiders mind, and to her he would merely be a object in the surroundings. For one of the tests was that she not rely on others. She needed to be able to block outside influences while in a fight, and what better way then while on a quest for a fish?
Oh yes, he planned to try to distract her, though not physically doing anything.

Mir paused, looking over herself. She buttoned up Aidan's jacket, more for the darker material than anything. Her white shirt was definitely not stealthy. She slipped off her glasses and slid them into the pocket of the jacket. Moving quietly, she curved around to a rock at the edge of the pond. She would assess where the fish was then back off and figure out her next move.
She edged closer to the pond and laying flat against the side, she peered into the pond.
location of the fish:
1- right in front of her
2- at the bottom middle of the pond
3- at the far side of the pond
4 in the middle of a group of fish in about the middle of the pond

A burst of laughter erupted from Aidan’s mouth. The fish he wanted was in the bottom middle of the pool. It seemed the poor girl would not get it easy with this task…
Still the thought of her being in the worst position for Mir, made him giggly inside.
Only the faint hope Mir didn’t hurt his secret friend kept him steady on the fence.

crap crap crap crap crap. Mir frowned to herself. Figures... She slid away from the edge of the pond and into the shadows to think. Being down there is going to make her hard to get, but what would I do with her once i get her out? Where would I put her? I can't just give it to Aidan... That's to easy. Where was he going to put it? I probably has a fish tank back at that building... but how would i get her there... Maybe i could wrap her in a damp cloth... my shirt could work... but would i make it. It Would be a hell of a lot harder with a fish in tow... And how do i get her out of the pond in the first place? I can't just manhandle her out of the water... I wonder if there is any food around here... That would probably be the best place to start. Mir headed of towards a shed, her quest for food equally an excuse for something to do as well as a way to tempt the koi to the surface. She entered the shed quietly and found the box she was looking for. Scooping out a cup of food, she walked stealthily back to the edge of the pond and tossed the food into the middle, praying that the koi hadn't been fed recently.

Aidan watched the girl, obviously impressed. A great many he knew would have more than likely just sat there teetering on the edge until they got the courage to jump in. This girl had brains and it was obvious. Watching the fish come up he was relieved and slightly anxious, for he knew the real test was coming. The catching of the fish was something to entertain himself with, it was the part afterwards that would determine his acceptance of her or not. He ran a large hand through his red hair once more and bit on the inside of his cheek.
Who was nervous?? Surely not him.

Yes! It worked!...Now what? Mir knew she had to think quick, before the koi swam back down to the bottom, or worse, someone saw her. Mir watch the fish as she fed, thinking seriously. I wonder what she'll think about being kidnapped. Aidan wants me to keep her alive... He just said to catch her, he didn't say anything about kidnapping it... I could take this fish anywhere... If I'm to protect those under my care, it would be negligence for me to move her anywhere... besides... she might get lonely. Maybe... Mir sighed. Interpretations be damned. I'm catch your damn fish. Quietly, Mir stripped off her clothing down to her underwear, and tucked her shirt, gloves and skirt into Aidan's jacket. She hid the knife too, but left it within easy grabbing distance of the edge of the pond. I bet Aidan's loving this... well, here goes nothing. She slid feet first into the water and swam as quietly as she could towards the fish in question.
She really was beautiful. Mir could see why Aidan liked her. Treading water gently, Mir reached out slowly towards the koi. "Hello. I promise i won't hurt you. You're very pretty." Very slowly, she reached out until she gingerly touched the side of the fish. It was smooth and only slightly slimy. She stroked the fish a few times, murmuring to it gently before whispering "Goodnight. I'm sorry if I disturbed you." And setting back of towards the edge of the pond.

Aidan watched with interest, and NO it was not because the girl was down to basically no clothes. She had done everything perfectly. She caught the fish and held her for a few moments, and then let her free, exactly as he wished. Just as he was to call out to her he heard a crash in the shed as a huge man came billowing outward.
“YOU damn cats! Get the hell out of here!” He wielded a rake and a watering hose. Aidan jumped back over the fence and watched what would happen to Mir. She had to get out of there, and he couldn’t help due to what he had said previously.
….
And she better not leave his jacket either, he thought with sardonic humor as he waited for the female.
After all, he had to congratulate her.

"S**T!" Mir hissed as she pulled herself out of the pond. MODESTY BE DAMNED! She grabbed the pile of clothes and sprinted off between the mans legs and out towards the gate in the fence surrounding the gardens. Hanging a left, she ran back to the point where she had scaled the fence. "Here's your damn jacket!" She said, tossing it up to Aidan. She quickly pulled on her gloves and skirt, and then her shirt, not bothering to button it up. She then stowed her knife in her skirt waistband and sprinted off towards the end of the parking lot. There she turned around to face Aidan, whom she knew was right behind her. She put her hands on her hips and cocked her head, shirt open, water dripping everywhere. "Sooo... did i pass?"

Aidan looked down at her gripping his jacket.
“I have to ask… why did you not take her out of the pond?” He wrapped his arms around her, thus covering her with his jacket. And withdrew his arms.
He wasn’t prolonging the suspense, but found himself merely curious. And she did seem to fair well in the speed category.

"Well, it was for a few main reasons... but they're all interconnected. First of all, logistics. I had no real way of getting her safely out of the pond and back to the building, if indeed that's where we were going. Then, i had no way of knowing she would be safe once we got there. That kind of goes under the second reason, too. If I'm to protect those under my care, I can't in good conscious take her out of that pond, not knowing if she'd be safe in transit, or at whatever destination, because i had a feeling you weren't going to tell me." Mir grinned wryly at Aidan. "But the final reason was that it just didn't feel right to kidnap her. That's her home. That's where her friends are. Maybe even her family. I wouldn't take her away from that, even if you wanted me to. Then i remembered that you said to 'catch her', not to steal her. So i did. Catch.. and release." Mir grinned at Aidan again. "So did i pass or not?"

Aidan grinned at her.
“You did exactly what I wanted you to do. She’s my friend you see, and if she was to be damaged I wouldn’t have been too kindly. So get your rear home. Your first shift is at dawn.” He watched her movements, and understood her logic. There were many situations in life where thinking like that would prove to be helpful, and they needed one who could think that easily and clearly regarding situations spare the moment. Yes Mir was going to be a valuable asset to their group of wayward friends.
