Ara struggled more trying to go backwards and slide the collar out of the branch but all it did was scratch the back of her head and choke her. She hissed angrily and flailed trying to slip the root off her collar. She only managed to get a small rip in the side of it. She frowned...did she want to just rip it off and not try to get it off the root. She didn't want to lose the connection to her past...but she didn't want to lose Morph who was her future...She looked out the hole and heard the badger growl again and bang against the tree and she made up her mind. She ripped the collar the rest of the way and growled, dashing out of the hole and launched herself at the badger with her claws extended. "MORPH RUN!!" She yelled as she clawed at the badger's eyes and ears.
The badger was enjoying messing with this cat. He smiled at its playful banter and shook the tree hard once more. "Oh i think you will! It wont be long now cause you cant hang on for forever!" He said with a laugh as he clawed away at the tree. Suddenly out of no where another cat was on his face clawing at his eyes and ears. He growled loudly and turned from the tree swinging his head and trying to claw at it. But with his big head and neck and shorter arms he couldn't reach where Ara was positioned on the back of his head.

Morph watched as Ara clung to the badger, biting and clawing. Yanking his claws out of the bark, Morph leaped off of the tree and twisted in the air before landing on the badgers hindquarters. He dug his claws in viciously before launching himself off again. "ARA, COME ON!"

Ara scratched the badger in the eye once more and then took off over his back and headed off with Morph. "Keep running! Don't stop for anything!" she said as she bounded over the fallen logs, rocks and plants in their way as she ran off to freedom with Morph. She had saved him! Had taken off her collar for him! She would smile about it later, now she was just worried about getting away from the badger if it was chasing them.
The badger growled out in frustration. It couldn't see now but it took off after the smell of the cats. "Stupid animals! Blinding such an amazing animal as me!! I will never forget this you stupid cats!!!" He yelled out as he went slowly after them, before hitting a tree and stopping. He had to stop the blood from running into his eyes so he could see if they still worked. He would find them when he was well. The may have won for now but he would find them soon.

Morph ran side by side with Ara all the way back to the willow tree. Panting, he flopped down by the tree. "Did we make it? Are we still alive?" Morph grinned up at her. "What a beautiful dancing warrior you are."

Ara sat next to him breathing heavy. Her body was on fire and she felt like she was going to die. She panted next to him as her hand covered her neck. She felt naked with out her collar right now. But she felt power! Alive and free now! She laughed a little then looked at Morph. "Thank you. It just...erupted in me and i had to save you." she panted out as she leaped onto him and held him tightly. "I couldn't let that thing eat you! your too important to me!" she said as she clung to him with her eyes closed still trying to even out her breathing.

Morph laughed with her from nerves and the sheer delight of being alive. When she jumped on him she smiled widely at her, and then his eyes caught her bare neck. The smile never left his face, but his eyes became somber. He lifted his hands to her neck and touched her, running his hands along the place were her collar had been. Then he wrapped his arms around her and hugged her. "Thank you..." He whispered.

The skin on her neck under her collar hadn't been touched in so long that feeling his hand there made her smiled and purr softly as she snuggled into him more. "Your welcome." she said as she closed her eyes and just held Morph. She couldn't believe what she had done and there was still a part of her that didn't think this had happened yet.

Morph just lay there with Ara, not really paying attention to the world around him. What was most important to him was in his arms, and that was all that really mattered to him. He sighed contentedly, happy to be alive and happy to be in love.

As they sat there under the tree a light rain fal began to trickle down through the leaves. Ara looked up and then at Morph. "Lets scoot closer into the tree. I don't want to wet right now. Theres a little tunnel i dug under the roots right over there. Its roomy enough for the both of us." She said with a smile as she walked over to it and then looked back at him to make sure he was ok with hiding from the rain.

Morph liked the rain, but he liked Ara more. And if she didn't want to get wet right now, then Morph was perfectly OK with that. He followed her to the mouth of the tunnel. "After you, my love." He smiled
It was indeed roomy enough for both of them. He snuggled up next to her and purred happily. "How are you feeling?" He asked her seriously.

Ara smiled to her self as she snuggled next to him. She looked over at him and licked the top of his head. "I feel...good. Better. Stronger really. I...kind of want to fight more. But i don't really like the rain. Never really have been tooo found of water inless i need to be in it, for like hunting or cleaning when i'm really dirty." she said with a smile as she snuggled into him. "I feel alot better now that i'm free." she said with a smile.

Morph grinned back at her. "Its a different feeling, isn't it?" He said, thinking back to the time he took off his own collar. "I don't mind the rain when it's light like this, actually, i kind of like it, but once it gets heavier, I would much rather be not wet." He grinned and shuddered playfully. "'Sides, all my fluff would go flat." He giggled, swishing his tail onto her and grinning happily.

Ara laughed, her voice turning into a little jingle as she did it and snuggled him as he wrapped his tail around her. She felt much warmer now. "Oh and i so don't want you less fluffy! I love your fluff!! Makes snuggling you so much more fun! But i think its time for some sleep. Its been a long day now. Will you stay here with me tonight?" she asked as she snuggled into him and rested her head on his side and purred softly as she closed her eyes.

Morph smiled warmly back at her. "I'd love to." He kissed her on the forehead and settled down next to her. "I love listening to it... the rain I mean..." He said sleepily "It's so peaceful. Even more so like this..." He snuggled her again.

Ara smiled and nodded. "Its nice to listen to sometimes." she said softly as she snuggled with him. She made a huge yawn and looked up the tunnel at the rain falling outside and then looked to him. "Will you get some sleep too? I think were safe here. The rain should wash our scent away so the badger can't follow us." she said with a smile.
