"I intend to support you and our Wingleader with all I have," replied A'dan with his usual quiet certainty, and it was as if he'd finished the topic as far as he was concerned; his shrug was sleek and easy, for all that his bared shoulders were beginning to redden with sun exposure. "It will end well, or we will end badly; I am sure the others know that as well as anything."

But belying his confidence, A'dan's fingers rose to tug absently at his golden curls, pulling one down over the long pale scar that marked the side of his face. "If there is anything that I can do, Wingsecond," he remarked with quiet gravity after a few long, quiet moments, please do not hesitate to ask."

Stretching and letting the topic drop, A'dan chuckled as he turned his attention to the candidate topic. "The new weyrlings will probably find it easier to transition, whatever color they Impress. When I Impressed, there were definitely fewer than there are now." A part of him, weary from the stresses of the day, wanted to settle down for the evening and rub Sigranth's eye-ridges until he rumbled, but he suspected, odds were, that second part belonged to his lifemate's thoughts.

Perhaps, replied Sigranth archly to A'dan's amused mental prod. Is it bad if I want your attention, mine? The big bronze moved to put all four legs beneath him, relaxing a bit now, done swimming. Directing his speech back at Garith, he replied, you should not worry. Obviously everything will be well. Self-confident, he rumbled with contentedness, eyes whirling a pleased, lazy blue.

R'than gave the bronze rider a smile and nodded. "Thank you, your support means a lot to me. I can see plenty of people trying to bring our wing down, but we shall prevail." When the change of topic was made, he was only too happy to chuckle and go along with it. "Yes, indeed, two classes of Weyrlings right now, and another one on the way. I imagine the Weyrlingmaster is more than a little stressed with so many to handle. A second Weyrlingmaster is going to be required at this rate! When Garith was a dragonet, our class was fifteen strong, and we were almost mature by the time the next clutch hatched. That, of course, was a very long time ago," he concluded with a grin.

Humm, some attention sounded nice. Garith rumbled softly as he waded to where His stood and sat down in the water, lowering his head in search of a rub. R'than complied with a smile, and the brown gave a happy sigh as the familiar fingers moved over his eye ridges. "Of course it will," he agreed once he was settled. "I am glad to have fine dragons such as yourself on our wing," he went on, "our success is a certainty." Lyveana and Ruinnth, A'ras and Cavaruth; those two were his only concern as yet. Sad that one of them was the wingleader, and the other only a problem because he refused to even try to respect her.

"There were not this many even when I Impressed," A'dan said with a chuckle, shrugging narrowly. "There were twenty in our class -- the Weyrlingmaster was bewildered, then. Not many bronzes and one queen every three or four clutches, that's for certain." Pride filled his voice, and moving to meet his own, A'dan reached up, rubbing a hand along the long, graceful bronze neck fondly, knowing just where to scratch on the smooth hide. "You are not so old," he teased mildly, with an amused straight face.

Thank you, preened Sigranth as he craned his neck down to offer another itchy spot to A'dan's gentle familiar hand. He knew very well that he was a wonderful creature; his ego was quite expansive, after all.

R'than chuckled and shrugged. "Well, I suppose you're right, there are plenty of riders older than myself still. I suppose I just hang around with you young things too much, eh?" He did seem to end up mostly hanging around with people in their twenties and thirties, maybe early forties. Probably because he had never got on with people his age; he'd preferred to associate with mature types. Now that he was a mature type himself and most of the friends of his youth were dead or batty he needed new associates. It would have made sense for them to be people his age, but he still didn't seem to get on with them so very well. They all had shared experiences spanning decades, their friendships were as old as the hills; it was hard to find a way into groups like that, especially when you'd done your best to avoid them before and they remembered that. Still, no skin off his nose, he got on just fine with his current friends, even if he did find himself steering drunks around and telling off gamblers more often than he'd needed to before.

"I wonder if this trend is going to continue," R'than mused, "it'll be three to a weyr soon if it goes on and we haven't yet found a place to establish a new Weyr." Would their wing move, or stay? Would they even stay together? It would be nice if they could just shed Lyveana, he quite liked what he knew of most of the rest of them. Either they'd need a bronze to come and take the position of wingleader, or he'd need to do that and find a second from somewhere. Ha. As if Lyveana would take her claws out though; she liked her new position far too much to let the wing escape from her clutches... He shouldn't be thinking such things about his wingleader, but he couldn't help it, couldn't find even a shred of respect for her. Surely he was entitled to think these things so long as he didn't tell anyone else. Garith sent him a quiet thought of agreement; it would be wrong of them to voice such thoughts, but they could not help their opinions.
