No. That single word was enough to make her heart plummet, her breath catch in her throat with disbelief as she strained to understand what the mare was telling her. "Treasures..." Her ears flicked back and forth uncertainly, not sure what to say. If Alyssum saw no one, but Chimalsi insisted there was another there... Laurelin quietly began to pace, straining her thoughts to try and come up with some sort of explanation. He had been...violent, towards this mare? Towards anyone?
"Gold... gems... furs... Things that come from the earth, no?" She muttered to herself with rapidly flicking ears. "...Alyssum... Like I am so tied to the trees... Do you think it possible that he is tied to the earth, to the metals and more natural things? Like the scales that cover his body..." A bit of a hard swallow. "If he's wavering between his element and me... it is possible that she is attempting to keep him at her side. Where the forests were more understanding of her affection for him, the earth was less likely to move and shift, to allow for change.
Shaking her head with shock at the realization, her eyes snapped up to hold the mare's gaze. "...Do you remember where he was? Could I... Could I ask you to take me to him, Alyssum?" It was a grave thing to ask of her, and Laurelin immediately regretted it. "I am sorry if he... he frightened you, but that does not sound like the stallion I know. He was afraid to tell me of her, and I believe I'm beginning to understand why." How could she have been so blind? Then again, how could she have known?
"I need to help him." She eventually whispered, feeling so helpless.

"I guess... maybe that's so," Alyssum admitted, glancing down at her hooves for a moment. She didn't really understand the talk of 'elements' that Laurelin brought up; although she had lived her whole life in the forest, surrounded by plants and growing things, she had never felt like they had any power over her. Names were important, and so were flowers and the forest, but she had never felt like they controlled her, told her what she could and couldn't do or when to fight... but maybe that was something bigger than her. A burden that only special Soquili like the Golden One and the Great Lady could bear.
The chocolate mare straightened up. If that was so... if both of them already had that much on their backs, then how could she abandon them? How could she possibly refuse to help? Not that the thought of dissertion had seriously crossed her mind... not when Chimalsi remained in that hot hole beneath the earth, while Laurelin looked at her with those sad eyes, with that wilting tone.
"I'll take you, Laurelin, but... it's in a cave, and it's easy to get lost. It's hot and stuffy, and there's not very much sunlight. Now that it's pretty much night time, we won't even have THAT light. If you want to go, I'll take you - I just don't want you to go without knowing everything." Alyssum tossed her head, turning away from the golden mare and in the direction of the cave. "It's this way."

Alyssum looked unsure of herself, and the golden mare felt her heart sinking some in turn. Was that, admittedly, too far-fetched? She'd always gotten an earthen vibe from the stallion, but that didn't necessarily mean such a thing was true. The dainty female nearly melted as the younger unexpectedly brightened and agreed, stepping forward to briefly touch her muzzle to the mare's cheek with weak-needed gratitude.
"Oh, yes, yes, please Alyssum! ...And thank you..." The words could barely crawl out of her throat, and she shook her head slightly at the mention of discomfort. She would endure all that and more--however cautiously she might need to tread--if it meant she could somehow help Chimalsi. He had suffered for too long, hadn't he?
"I will follow your lead. And I thank you, for your concern. I know you don't have to do this..." But she was anyway, bless her, and Laurelin's heart swelled with something resembling the fondness she felt for the golden stallion. It wasn't the same, not at all... but it was similar.

This made Alyssum pause in mid-step, turning her head back to smile at the foliage adorned mare. "Of course I do, Laurelin. You and Chimalsi need me. What kind of person runs away when someone else needs help? Not -me-, that's for sure! Now... follow me!"
That was the last warning she gave before galloping off, eager to get to the cave but not wanting to get too far ahead of Laurelin that she'd leave her behind and lost.

She took a deep breath to steady her jittering nerves before long legs carried her quickly after the chocolate mare, not daring to slow in case she lose her. Oh, if only Alyssum knew how she had been the one at fault to let Chimalsi leave her! Would the mare judge her, Laurelin wondered, if she did know? There was no time to dwell on that now, however, and she had no breath to waste words. She had been given a chance to rectify her mistakes, and let her pounding hooves carry her closer to where the golden stallion was apparently in hiding.
She only hoped she wasn't too late.
