Ramiro leaned up against a wall, taking another long drag as he thought over what the kid had said. He had to hand it to him, he was right, there were a lot of scum buckets in the world, and teenagers were the least of the problems, "As long as you don't go eyeing young children I won't have any problem with you." Wait, had he just said that? What the hell. Was he developing a Dad gene or something?

Again, he made a face. "Tch, I'm no *****. I just like to make the little people feel special, so I just pay attention and listen to them, since some people don't bother to. "He shrugged neutrally, pulling a chair over by hooking his tail spikes around a leg, and sitting on it with the chair back in front of him agaisnt his chest. "So what brings you to such a noisy dance on a fine evening as this?" He asked dramatically, laughing.

He laughed a bit, though he still seemed a bit uncomfortable with the setting. "S'better than being home listening to Duncan muse I suppose. The kid needs some friends, maybe a girlfriend, but he doesn't listen to me."

"Duncan you're little bro? And yeah, friends're generally a good thing. My little sis seem to think she doesn't need'em, but she's stillm got two or three friends, so it's all good, in a way. It's tough for Sere to get friends, she always acts jerky, to put it nicely." He said, annoyance showing in his voice.

Ramiro thought about it for a few moments, what exactly could he call Duncan? "He's more of a foster son than a brother I suppose." Stuff like that always confused him.

Zuko frowned at the explanation. "How exactly does that work out?" He cocked his head to the side, genuinely interested.

He shrugged, "I take care of him, and he's about your age, and shoot, I don't know. He's with me unless we can figure something else out."

"Yeah, I guess that'd be foster son then. Or maybe roommate or something." He grinned, laughing. "Thinking's never really been my strong point, I generally just do random stuff."

The older demon laughed, finally a bit more at ease, though it could well have been cause by the nicotine. "Yeah, but I'd rather call him a foster son than a bum roommate." He surveyed the dance floor again, wondering how much of a fool of himself he would make if he tried to dance, "I guess I'm a thinker, I was when I was younger at least, I think I may have had a few too many knocks to the head since then."

He laughed, nodding understandably. "Ha ha, makes sense. And at least you can remember being little. I'm not even sure how old exactly I am, or what I did when I was little." He said, making another face, not caring to bring up Errdegahr, for fear of maybe reawakening him.

Ramiro's posture slumped a bit, "I was in a gang till I came up here, got stabbed for the first time when I was seven." Some of the guys he had known would be proud of something like that, but all it did was upset him to think that there were still kids that young involved in gangs now. Morai had told him once that the younger a kid was when you roped him in the easier it would be to turn him into a killer.

He winced sympathetically. "Ouchh. I'm not gonna pry about that, since that's definately only your business, 'less you choose to share it. What about your mum'n dad? Even some demons care a little bit 'bout their kids, though some'd probably be proud about something like that..." He said, making a low whistle.

He smiled, though he wasn't quite sure why, other than the fact that he didn't mind talking about his mother. His father on the other hand.. "My mom was a bit of a demonic oddball, think my dad only kept her around because she was pretty. She liked poetry too, I think, but more morbid stuff than my tastes. My dad, well, he didn't like working, rented me to Morai and Brogan as a pickpocket."

He laughed a little. "Female demon's generally seem to be pretty, so yeah. But ouch, that'd be tough havin' your dad rent you out to people." o.O He made a face again. "Sometimes I'm glad I can hardly remember what happened before I got to the AC. I just remember being totured for something, then getting booted up. I'm not nearly as scarred as you are, though it still hurt like something I'd care not to mention." He said, grinning crookedly and pointing with his left hand to his cheek, where the claw marks showed darkly in the dim light on his cheek and left wrist.

Ramiro nodded, "All of my damage is superficial though, I've already dealt with all of the emotional scars, now they don't really bother me. But you're still young, forgetting is a good thing. Otherwhise you get tough and cocky. And shoot, you end up like me, or dead. Don't know which is worse." True, he did have a lot of scars, but he could deal with them, he always had before, but he couldn't deal with forgetting. That just wouldn't work for him. Without noticing it, he cringed, but not at the boy's hand, at the memory of what it had felt like to have his own arm snapped off just above the elbow.
