The bible was written for people of "lower" intellect and for those who could read and write. You have to take that into consideration when interpreting stories from the bible. There was a different culture and the language couldnt be translated perfectly as well, some of the meaning is probably lost as we just dont see it.

I think evolution has nothing to do with belief in a God, do you not believe in God because mitochondria produce energy? It's just any other topic in biology.
