Verdant blushed a little as Faolan unbuttoned his shirt, but raised an eyebrow when he saw the tattoos on the demon's back. They were beautiful and intricate, though Verdant hadn't the slightest idea why Faolan would hide them from anyone. "Those tattoos are great, Faolan. Why don't you want to let Adam see them? I get that there's more to them, of course, but... are they bad?"
Verdant frowned as he thought about it. Did the runes mean something bad? He doubted it. Then why hide such beautiful artwork?

Faolan nodded. "Yeah, they're bad. My birth father put them there when I was still just a baby. I never knew what they meant until recently when Trystan informed me they're part of some creepy ritual my father was attempting that involved me. Now they're a death sentence if the wrong sort of demonkind see them." He shrugged the shirt back up, leaving it unbuttoned.

"What the ********?" Verdant muttered in shock. How could someone do that to their child?! If he wasn't so angry about such flagrant and horrendous abuse of a child, he'd be crying. Instead of blooms, small black thorny vines creeped down his head, weaving through the strands of his hair. This was new to him, but the rage wasn't. To curse one's child with imminent death like that disgusted him. He never could stand hearing about a child being hurt by a parent...
Verdant swallowed back his rage and shook his head. "Adam wouldn't do that. I don't even think he'd know what they were..."

"Can't really take that chance," Fao said simply, no accusation there. "And you know they're only a death sentence because he screwed up whatever ritual he was gonna do. Outside of Farstep, I just feel a little safer, maybe a little more normal, with them covered."
He went over and sat down in the chair he'd been indicated to earlier, relaxing in it--well, sprawling almost, really. "Verdie, does it hurt much, this piercin' thing?"

Verdant nodded solemnly as he retracted his vines, a soft crunching sound accompanying the retraction. "Well, I know what you mean. You can trust Adam, though. He's not like other demons, not that I've met many. He'll do a fine job of the piercing even with your shirt on."
Verdant chuckled when Faolan climbed onto the chair; he was certainly getting comfortable, wasn't he? That was definitely for the best; as Adam had said, the tenser you are, the more it'll hurt. "I've never gotten anything pierced besides my ears, but it did sting a lot when I first got them- that's what I get for getting them all at once. A navel piercing though... well, unless you get turned on by pain, it's going to really suck while he's doing it. He's really quick though, so you won't feel much until after he's done." He stared at Faolan's tummy and grinned. Ellandra would have a field day with that navel piercing...

"Cannae say I've ever been turned on by pain before," Fao said, then twitched an ear. "Oh, well, this one time, I had a girl that liked to bite durin' . . . " He looked at Verdie. "You know, never mind. I'll just try to grit my teeth and bear it." He gave a wry grin, catching Verdie's look to his stomach. "Oi, lad, admire the goods all you want. I trust you not to touch. Hey, you think Elle will like the navel ring?"

"Ooh, lucky you! I've yet to meet a guy who can handle a good bite without complaining," Verdant said as he pouted. In all fairness, he didn't bite that hard... most of the time. "It's a real turn off when you're... having fun and they start crying and exaggerating about pain and hemorraging."
He blushed quite a bit when Faolan caught him looking at the demon's stomach. "Hey, you can't blame me, now can you? As for Ellandra... well, she'll either absolutely love it, or only like it a little. I don't think she'd hate it one bit." His money was on her absolutely loving it.

"I cannae say I've ever had one complain about hemorrhaging," Faolan laughed. He was making a silent promise at that moment to take the nymph for a night around Farstep. The kid would absolutely love it there, he was sure of it.
He looked over at Verdant. "How long till it's healed enough to have fun with?"

"How long? Um... well, not too long, I'd think. I'd give it maybe four days or so; the pain will go away pretty soon, but the flesh will remain tender." He dared not ask what he meant by having fun with it...
Adam returned with a fairly large case full of shimmering gold and silver navel rings and studs. "Alright, yo, go ahead and choose whichever you like! There's plenty to choose from; take your time."

Faolan looked over at Adam as he came in. "A simple gold ring will do, I think. Anything I should be doing before you do this or that we should be discussin'?"

"Simple? That's so... vanilla. Come on, choose one! It's half the fun of getting pierced!" Adam loved seeing people's choices in piercings. It said a lot about the person's personality.
"Yeah, choose one, Faolan. Even the simplest rings can say a lot about who you are," Verdant chirped as he looked over at the rings. Some were very intricate, while others were simply jewels that embedded themselves into the skin. There would be no settling for Faolan if this nymph had anything to do with it.

Faolan smirked. "Alright then." He leaned over and looked through the selection and decided on a golden ring designed to look like an intricate celtic knot. "This one'll do."

Adam took the ring and examined it with a smile. So, that's what he was, huh? He figured as much; most humans don't have horns growing out of their heads. It was nice to meet a fellow demon, especially one who wasn't hell-bent on killing something and was a damn good guy, if not a bit oblivious.
"Alrighty, let's get to some piercing, shall we?" The incubus put on a pair of sterile latex gloves and picked up a decent-sized needle. His eyes glowed for a second before a small blue flame appeared before him. "This isn't ordinary fire, yo, but you know that, right? It just helps the needle go through faster without any blood beign spilled. It's still going ot hurt liek a b***h, though."
And with that, he pinched the skin of Faolan's belly button and jammed the needle through.

"Herne's balls!" Faolan yelped, knuckles going white where he gripped the arms of the chair. He gritted his teeth, growling softly, and squeezed his eyes shut, tiny tears appearing at the corners. "********' hell."

Verdant had to stifle his laughter when Faolan yelped in pain. Who the hell was Herne? “Y-you alright there, Faolan? You don’t look so good.” Seriously, the expression on the demon’s face was so funny that he had the nymph clutching his sides.
Adam, meanwhile, was in “business mode”; he left the needle inside the wound as it slowly warmed up with the daemon’s flame. “Just a little bit more, Faolan. I need the needle to be hot so that the wound closes up and heals nicely; otherwise, it could get infected. Almost done…” The incubus tapped the needle a few times, saw that it was as hot as it needed to be, and pulled it out slowly. The faint smell of burning flesh lingered in the air before Adam waved his hand to get it away from him. “Now the ring…” He unclasped the golden ring and slipped it through the hole, securing it with the tiny clasp once more. “And voila! You’re all set!”
