Sarabi chuckled, fully appreciating her brother's humor and unusual sense. It was good that she enjoyed it, for the two were certain to cross paths with their positions in the pride.
In midst of her appreciating, Kachero had seemed to suddenly gotten the urge to jump on the walls... No, he must finally want to get out, Sarabi corrected.
She watched him contentedly, resisting a burst of laughter as he stayed in one place on the wall in a less than flattering position. She wasn't sure if this was true or not, but Sarabi could have sworn that his body was shivering, struggling to stay in that one place. Why couldn't he just release and try again? Or perhaps he was too lazy to make the effort.
Smiling with a roll of the eyes, Sarabi found herself looking her brother in the eyes, and his eyes told her something his mouth couldn't purvey: he needed her, and his pride would hurt to ask for aid.
"Okay!" Sarabi said in delight, walking away from the hole.
Of course, she decided to formulate her own plan and not speak of anything to Kachero, leaving him to only wonder why she just suddenly left him.
Sarabi walked to the nearest tree she could find with a low branch, and easily snapped it off. Holding it in her mouth, she immediately went back to the hole containing her brother, dropped the branch at her paws, and looked down once more with an assuring grin.
"Stay there, okay?" she ordered, as if Kachero hadn't already been doing that.
And she grabbed the branch with her mouth once more, using one paw to secure it more, leaving the other paw to hold the ground. She lowered it to Kachero, hoping it would reach him and not accidentally hit him in the face or anything, or get tangled in his mane. It would be counterproductive if anything bad like that happened anyways, right?
With the branch in her mouth, she decided to voice through her teeth, "Take it!"

"Okay what?" Kachero called up to her, just to make sure everyone, though there was no one around, knew where he stood in the deal, "I didn't ask for anything!"
Feeling a bit more content, like his plan had worked and he could comfortably consider himself a genius problem solver once more, the young seer continued to cling to the wall with new resolve. She hadn't just wandered off, right? No, she'd come back. She was a good sister.
Right?
Hoping he wasn't going to be left down the hole to fend for himself, remembering that she had pushed dirt on him and he had been a bit of a boastful jerk, he chewed on his lower lip as he waited. Anticipation was building in him, and it only made his legs shake more. He thought about calling out to her, to see where she was, but he didn't want to look needy. Particularly because he had gone so far out of his way not to ask her for help: it wouldn't make sense to hurry her up.
"Oh, yeah," he said, his voice all but bursting with relief rather than the sarcasm he was going for, "I'm good. I can stay here all day."
He blinked.
"But I would rather not," he added as an afterthought.
He moved his head back when she lowered the branch, sniffling a bit after it hit him in the nose. He felt his back foot slip and he grabbed on to the branch with his jaws in a bit of panic, tugging it hard as his body responded to the sudden rush of gravity. He nearly fell back in, but found himself balancing precariously on one paw, the counter balance of the vine in his mouth fully supporting his weight.
He could only hope she didn't let go, or he wasn't too heavy and she slipped in on top of him. Waving his paws frantically, he tried to motion for her to pull him back up through the lost lion art of mime.

Jerk--the branch went as Kachero pulled on it a bit too fast and hard, and Sarabi let out a small squeal as she struggled to grip the other end. It was like... playing tug-of-war with gravity, and Sarabi herself wasn't sure that she would stand a chance at even tying with, especially when gravity had taken her dear brother prisoner.
Now she was stuck. If she moved, she felt like the branch would immediately slip out from her maw; if she didn't move, then... well, they'd be here in their compromised positions for a while, wouldn't they?
"You heavy," Sarabi miraculously managed to say through the branch.
She hadn't had the chance to test her physical endurance ever, and this was proving to be a rough challenge. Maybe if she psyched herself into believing that she could support all of Kachero's weight despite the fact that he, as a male, was bigger than her, especially because she had been smaller than the average Mistweaver lioness, and--
"Ah!" she exclaimed, losing her footing, slipping halfway into the ditch as the claws on her back feet tried to remain more firm on the edge of the hole.
Well, now that her back was killing her, and that she had ventured into a worse position than before, Sarabi simply released her footing on the higher ground and jumped down to the available space next to Kachero, consequently releasing the branch that had connected the two.
She took a moment to look at the carcass that Kachero had examined earlier, and made a face.
"Okay, this is kind of gross. Were you looking at this earlier? Listen, let me jump off your back to get out so we can try that again... without any sudden movements?"

Kachero was not a fan of this precarious position, and wanted to get himself up on solid ground again. As soon as possible. But that hope was quickly stolen from him when he was suddenly moving, in entirely the opposite direction than he wanted to go.
A few things occurred to him in one fleeting moment of clarity. The first was he was about to fall down backwards into a pit. This thought was pretty obvious, and he wasn't too worried because he had already been down there and it was no big deal. The second was he would probably be dragging his sister with him, from the way her paws were slipping over the edge. He could have let go of the branch, maybe, and given her a chance to pull herself back up without him literally dragging her down.
But he didn't.
Anyway, she essentially just let him fall two seconds later, so he was automatically justified in his choice. He didn't hurt himself in his fall, just flopping a short distance back down into the hole, but he still wasn't too happy with the whole situation. Sighing, he got to his feet and shook himself off, looking at Sarabi when she spoke.
"Oh, yeah," he said, grinning, "it's pretty neat. I was just checking it out, trying to figure out its story. I'd like to investigate it, maybe, if I could ever find a lead."
He looked back up at the top of the hole, then back at Sarabi. Did he want her jumping off his back? Sighing, she was small enough to do it without causing him any harm, and he did want to get out of the hole himself. He nodded and crouched for her, so she didn't have to jump or climb on him.
"Just don't get your claws in me!"

A disappointed shake of the head indicated Sarabi's disapproval of her brother's interest in the morbid, and she immediately pawed over what dirt she gathered from the floor onto the skeletal remains, burying it just a little further. Perhaps one of the main distinguishing characteristics between Sarabi and Kachero was in her simple acceptance of many things--while he had a thing for sleuthing. It was hard for the softer, simpler sister to dwell on or interrogate things; though she supposed there had to be someone that did things and thought in ways that she herself did not.
"Whatever its story is, I hope it wasn't a sad one... and I hope you won't wind up in a bigger hole one and end up like it," she said half-jokingly with a small smile, "But knowing the trouble you seem to attract..."
It was odd that felt a little protective over him--the kind of protective that an elder sister feels for her younger sibling. Coming from a big family left little time for smaller connections to run deep, but made it easy to spread equal affection out. But something was different here; here Sarabi was with Kachero, stuck temporarily in a situation he got himself into, and it seemed like she could begin to define him as someone more than just "a brother" or "a sibling". Instinctively, she ran a paw through a small part of his mane that seemed frazzled and out of place from all the movement within the cave, then stuck a tongue out when she realized for once that his big mane looked rather silly to try and keep neat.
Turning to the crisis at hand, Sarabi squinted at the opening upwards, only directing her gaze towards Kachero when he lowered himself. Well, he agreed easier than she had expected. Maybe there was some love in her brother, after all!
So, putting on a determined face, Sarabi prepared herself to scramble to the top using her brother, and excitedly hopped onto him perhaps a bit too harshly, quickly digging her claws onto the dirt wall, wondering if she should wait for a cue or something that told her that he was ready for her lift off.
...But the top seemed so tempting, and so near, that the pale blue sister decided quickly to opt out of waiting for a response. Thus, she jumped up, stretching her body as far as it went--her paws reached just the edge of the hole, and she seemed to dangle almost like Kachero had been just minutes before. She knew he was directly under her, so it would have been pretty bad if she let a slip of the paw cost another attempt at getting out unharmed - and she also didn't want to disappoint her brother again.
She struggled with grasping at the earth, claws cautiously scraping for a farther hold on the edge while her legs attempted to maintain a firm grip to the ditch's sides, only lifting higher carefully when she thought she could position herself better. All the while, she hoped Kachero wouldn't be affected by her trial in case she let a few pebbles or clumps of dirt loose against the wall.
"Almost got it!" she called reassuringly, though she wasn't quite sure whether all the effort she already exerted into climbing up had actually done anything yet; she did not look back below her in fear of losing her concentration on not slipping.

Kachero wrinkled his nose when she covered the skeleton. She didn't seem to like it as much as he did. But it wasn't a matter of like, per se. It was interesting, even if it was gross! He sighed, shaking his head. He would have to teach her, some day, how awesome just opening up to questions and investigations was. He didn't feel like it right now, though, because he was sore from all his falling and really just wanted to get out of the hole.
He smiled at her reassuringly when she looked worried for him. He tilted his head and then nodded it. He wasn't going to let himself get into any scrapes he couldn't get out of, not any more. Every day was a learning experience, and now he knew to watch out for random holes in the ground. He was confident she didn't have to worry about him for that. But he was touched, in a way, that her eyes reflected her care of him. Of course he knew, as siblings, they were literally blood bound to worry about each other, but he never gave a thought to it. It was nice to see, in any case.
"Don't you worry, Sis," Kachero said, "I'll make sure you and I stay safe. You know. In general. Forever. Seekers have to look out for each other, right?"
His good mood fell slightly when she jumped on him, a rush of air leaving his lungs without his consent. He looked up, not really able to see her very well as she climbed on his back, his legs wobbling a bit from the effort. He didn't give her a cue, not thinking it necessary, and pushed his paws against the earth, giving her as much height as he could.
Of course, he hadn't realized she'd be moving at the same time. He steadied himself, not wanting to knock her off balance. She jumped! He was not a rock, and his legs buckled as she bounced on him, nearly knocking him off his feet.
"What are you doing?" he said, craning his neck around, spotting her dangling, "no, seriously. What are you doing?"
He moved to help her, rising up on his back feet and getting his shoulders under her back paws, pushing up so she might have more leverage and room to get herself out this way. He stared at the wall, not really wanting to see the view if he looked up at her from this angle.
"Can you get it now?"
