well iv dated 2 trombones and am currently dating an alto sax. i think its better to stay inside the band because you see them alottt and they get most of the jokes. but dating outside isnt bad. theres alot of decent guys outside band.

Lol I dated a sax player and now im with a trombone player XD

but the thing about guys outside of band is that they get all sideways about how much time you spend in band, and they dont get it. and then you have a STFU with your complaining!!!! kind of moment lol.

the major thing is that when u have band he'll have nothing to do unless he comes so he better be interested in band at least somewhat

I know dating out side the band may seem like dating a alien but it can be done if you really like the guy. Jk its not that bad!

Okay so Ive never dated outside of band, never. I was in band, orchestra, jazz band, and i only ever dated people from there. but theres this guy, and hes not in band. i dont know what to do. is there something different about nonband folk then band folk? because i know that band kids are some of the dirtest minds out there, from experience. and what is it like to date a nonband kid? should i do it?

ya know what a really odd non band combination is, a soccer kid and a bander. i usedto have a crush on this kid whos on my schools soccer team. but now i am of course dating a boy in the alto sax line. typical band drama, interband dating. but its perfectly fine to date non banders, in fact it would probly bring more variety to your life

I think dating someone just not in your section would bring more variety than that, but that's just my opinion.

As long as he understands how busy band makes you (it makes all of us busy xp ), it should work. If you don't know him very well yet, try being just friends with him for a while first though.

not really, everybody in the band is pretty much like a family and we all know whats goin on with eachother so dating a different instrament player would be the same as dating a person who plays the same instrament. personally why should someone care if their dating someone whos not in band. but if that person doesnt respect your wishes to be in band and says how stupid it is then thats when dating outside of band can get annoying

In my personal opinion, you should date anybody you want as long as they are not in your section. That's just instrumental incest.

Lol, I'm such a homo-sectional...

I'd imagine it will be different to date outside of band, especially if the only guys you've dated are in band. If you like him and he likes you, there's nothing wrong with it. But you will have to put up with his ignorance of band. That might get irritating, but if he likes you anyway, it should be fine.

Well, just try not to make him painfully uncomfortable if you're talking about band and he doesn't understand it.
And it may help if you get him to meet up with some of your friends in band, because if most of your friends are in band you'll never be able to talk about what goes on daily with you and your buddies if he doesn't know them.

I have the same problem as you though.
I am WAY too busy to date someone NOT in band. Drumline has practice ALL the time, plus I'm in a show choir, along with all pre-ap and AP classes, so it's difficult.
And then I play videogames to an unhealthy degree as well >.>;
Hard to find someone.

But yeah.
Just as long as you guys have SOME common boundaries, then it should be alright.

dating outside the band is WAY cool. Just make sure he treats you right.
