Christmas time with Maru, Luke, and Natalie

Maru smiled as she took a pan of freshly baked Christmas cookies out of the oven, pausing to smell the delicious aroma. She had sent Luke and Natalie off to decorate the tree in the living room so she wouldn’t have to worry about them trying to steal cookies or the dough. If they were allowed in the kitchen there wouldn’t be any cookies left to frost! She set the cookies on the wire rack to cool and picked up two from an earlier batch that had had time to cool. Time to go give her expert decorators a treat!

She walked into the living room and looked at the tree. “Oh Luke, Natty, it looks so pretty!” She said in awe. The tree was huge, almost reaching the ceiling with just enough room at the top for a star. It had everything you could think of decorating it: lights, ornaments and even some popcorn strings. She handed a cookie to Luke and to Natalie as the both grinned proudly. “Isn’t it great?” Luke asked, taking a bite of his cookie. “All we have left is to put the star on.” Natalie nodded, shoving the entire cookie in her mouth causing Maru and Luke to laugh. “How much longer do you think you’ll be?” Maru asked. “I need some expert frosting decorators to help me out in the kitchen!” “It might be a little while.” Luke said frowning, “I may have to borrow a ladder from someone. Maybe Ben and Thali have one we can borrow. I’ll go give them a call.” Luke moved to pick up the phone but was stopped by Natty’s voice. “I can do it Wuke!” Maru’s eyes widened. “Wait Natty, no!” But it was too late. Natalie had already grabbed the star, put out her wings and fluttered to the top of the tree, gently placing the star in the right place. Luke stared in shock, as Natalie gently landed on the ground. “See, you no need wadder, Wuke. I help!” Maru turned around slowly to face Luke and smiled. “Sooooooo. . . did I happen to mention Natty and I are pixies?”

A letter addressed to Natalie had been placed at the front door. No address or last name had been added to it, so it looked like the person who had written the letter had delivered it personally.

User Image

If you flipped the letter over, careful writing had translated the letter. It was Howl's father's hand.

Dear Natalie,

I hope you can read this. Sophie is always complaining that my hand writing is lacking, and I am beginning to agree with her. How are you? I hope your parents aren't giving you a bad time after the last time we met. Is your mother still angry with me? I was hoping to meet you at the park this evening.

Maybe we could go out for ice cream, you know, as friends. Sophie would throw a fit if she thought I was going out with another girl--you know, she's kind of possessive. I suppose all girls are, around me. Oh well.

Yours alluringly,

Howl

Taking the liberty of posting in my best friend's journal. Hit me when you see me, Maru, if you like. XD I thought this would be a good rp to record in your journal. <3

Maru and Thali
Howl had been dreading this moment. How could he expect Natalie to understand? She had never known him as anything more than a child. He couldn't expect her to understand; certainly not that he had been married in a previous life and still felt devoted to his wife. How could he expect her to believe that he had thought he'd loved her--which wasn't exactly true. Howl was known for stealing hearts of young, beautiful girls, and Natalie was no exception. Still, the wizard felt a connection to the girl he had never experienced before.

He didn't want to break her heart. He didn't want this to end up like all the other relationships that had ended in the girls' relatives coming after him with insults and rolling pins. He didn't want this to end with Natalie crying over Calcifer. Of course he wouldn't admit that he was absolutely terrified of Natalie's father. He really didn't want to see what Luke could do to his face. He did love Natalie, in a non-literal way, seeing as he had no heart. He did love her. She was his best friend.

How to tell her, though? He dialed Natalie's phone number with a sigh and a shake of the head. "She'll never believe me," he said. He waited for someone to pick up. "Could Natalie meet me in the park?"

Luke smiled as he heard Howl's question. Time to mess with him. "Of course Natty can't go to the park with you! No way, no how!" Maru grabbed the phone.

"Of course she can go! See you in a few minutes, sweetheart!"

Howl was surprised to hear Luke's voice and was about to hang up the phone when he heard Maru. "Okay, see you!" he said in a forced cheerful tone. He had a feeling Maru wouldn't be calling him sweetheart after what he was about to do. He could only hope Luke wouldn't kill him.

Maru, Luke and Natty arrived at the park. Seeing as Howl wasn't there yet, Natty ran off to play on the swings. "Aren't Natty and Howl cute together?" Maru asked.
Luke hesitated. "They are cute..." he said, but he was thinking about how long the relationship would last.

Howl finally reached the park and spotted Maru and Luke. He decided to talk to them first, to calm his nerves. "Hi Maru, Luke," he said with a smile. "How are you?"

"We're good Howl, how about you?" Maru asked, smiling. Luke even smiled too. "Enjoying your spring break?"

"I'm...okay, I guess," he didn't know what to say. How could he tell her that he was about to dump her daughter? He left them and went over to the swings. He sat on the one next to Natty. "Hey Natty? We need to talk."

Natty smiled. "Sure Howl, what's wrong? You seem sad..."

"Well..." Howl started. "You know about Sophie, right? And that I'm married... So I can't date you anymore..."

Natty frowned. "That sucks, but I understand, Howl. We can still be friends, right?" She asked, pouting slightly.

"We'll always be friends," Howl promised. "You're my best friend."

Natty smiled brightly. "You're my best friend too!" she said, hugging Howl. "And as your best friend, I expect to meet this wife of yours as soon as possible!" Natty grinned.

"You will!" Howl said with a genuine smile. "I'm sure Sophie would love to meet you!" He wasn't actually sure, to be truthful. He thought Sophie might get upset if she knew he had dated another girl.

"Yay!" Natty said, and jumped off the swing. "Hey guess what mom and dad! Howl's going to introduce me to his wife!" Maru's head whipped around, fire starting to burn in her eyes.

"His WHAT?!" She asked angrily.

Howl swore in Welsh. He hadn't expected Maru to get mad; Luke yes, Maru, no. "You know... Sophie... My wife." This only made the fire in Maru's eyes more intense. Luke looked at Maru and decided to try and difuse the bomb.

"Maru, honey, you've read the books. You've had to have seen this coming...?"

"I'm sorry..." Howl started nervously. "If I wasn't married, I'd marry her." He was trying to calm Maru down with a lie, and he knew it.

Maru started making growling noises. Luke stood up. "I'll be right back, I'm going to take her to the car."

"Thank you..." Howl muttered. He really was relieved that Luke wasn't punching his face in.

Luke locked Maru in the car and came back. "Sorry, she gets a little touchy."

Again taking this liberty. With permission! RP between Thali and Maru.

Quote:
Howl was having trouble with his younger sister Leyla. Not because she was disobeying, but because the wizard was terrified of her. It wasn't even that she was being remotely scary; it was the mere fact that she had fangs. Why had his father insisted he babysit anyway?

He picked up the phone and dialed Natalie's phone number. "Natty," he whined. "Come help me babysit my sister. She's scary!"

"Am not!" a voice retorted. "You're scarier than me!"

Natty giggled into the phone. "Why do you think she's scary? She's your sister, after all." Natty covered the phone with her hand, walking to where her father sat watching the football game. "Daddy, can I go over to Howl's house to help him babysit?" she asked sweetly.

Luke glanced at her. "Well, I don't see why not. It'll be halftime in a few minutes, tell Howl you'll be there soon." Natty smiled, her sweet voice almost always worked on her father, especially while her mother was at work in the bookshop. Natty uncovered the phone. "Be there soon, Howl!" She said happily.

"Because she's scary!" Howl said. "She's got fangs like a vampire and she bites!" He clearly didn't trust anyone with fangs. Not since Adrian had frightened him so much. "You'll come soon?" he asked, pleading. "Please? Dad took Devin and I'm all alone with her! She's going to eat me!"

"Am not! You don't even taste good!"

Natty smiled. "Yeah, I'll be there soon, promise! See you soon!"

Luke walked into the kitchen. "Ready to go?"

"Sure! But we have to make a quick stop first," Natty said, smiling mischeviously.

Ten minutes later, Luke pulled up to Zee's house. Natty hopped out of the car and smiled at Luke, revealing her fake fangs. "Thee you waiter, Dad!" she skipped up to the front porch and rang the doorbell.

Howl wasted no time in opening the door. "Thank goodne--" he noticed her smile. "You're... You're... You're a vampire!" he exclaimed before running back into the house. He didn't even close the door.

Natty laughed, chasing Howl into the house. She paused to wave to Luke before shutting the door. "Howl! Howl! Where'd you tho?" Natty called. "I have fwake fwangs! Stop wunning!" Natty took out her fake fangs. "See? Come out!"

Howl poked his head out of the hall way closet. "You're not a vampire?" he asked doubtfully. "But you had fangs..." Then he noticed the fangs in her hand. "You made fun of me!" He whined, before hugging her. "I've missed you!"

Natty smiled. "I just like to tease you! I've missed you too!!" she gave him a big hug. "Now let's get down to business! Where's your sister?"

"That was mean," Howl pouted. "My sister's in the living room," he added, gesturing. "Be warned, though. She bites." He took Natty's hand and led her to the livingroom. "She's in the playpen."

Leyla pulled herself up with the help of one of the playpen's sides. "I can't get out!" she complained.

Natty followed Howl into the living room. She frowned, letting go of Howl's hand to go to the playpen. "Poor Leyla!" she said, reaching down to pick her up. "Being locked up is no fun, huh? Ooh! You have very pretty wings!"

Howl frowned. "Don't let her out!" he protested. "Now she'll cause all sorts of trouble!"

Natty looked at Leyla. "Are you going to cause trouble, or do you just like annoying your big brother?" she asked the infant.

Leyla smirked, a look that might have been out of place on any other infant's face. "I just like annoying him," she confessed. "I wouldn't really cause trouble," she added, leaning against Natty. "I like you," she said. "You belong to Leyla."

Natty blinked. "Thank you?" she questioned. She looked to Howl. "This isn't that hard!" she told him, smiling. "Have you guys had dinner yet?" Mommy taught me how to make mac and cheese, and grilled cheese and other stuffs! And I brought cookies for later!"

"Cookies?" Leyla repeated. "What are cookies?"

Howl forced a smile. "We can make dinner together," he suggested. "Leyla can stir it, maybe."

Natty smiled. "Great! Let's do it!" she said, picking Leyla up and grabbing Howl's hand, dragging them to the kitchen. She sat Leyla down on a chair and grabbed a box of mac and cheese from the cupboard and instructed Howl to grab a pan. "Don't worry, it's been a long time since I burneded mac and cheese. I can make it real good. Do you want to stir, Leyla?"

"What's mac and cheese?" Leyla asked, looking up at Natty. "I want to help!"

Howl nodded at Natty in approval. "I can help," he offered. "I can cook."

Natty smiled at Leyla. "It's nummy, just wait and see!" She fluttered, flying up to reach the top of the stove to turn on a burner. "There! Now what do we need?"

Howl read the box. "Water, milk, and butter," he said. 'Want me to get it?" he asked, but before waiting for a response went to the fridge. He handed Natty the milk and butter; and gave Leyla a pan.

"What's this for?" Leyla asked. She studied the pan.

"I don't know. Babies like to bang on them."

Natty nodded. "It's fun! You can make your own music!!!" She began to bang on the counter. "We could be a band!"

Leyla thought about it. "But it wouldn't sound like music," she said. "It'd sound like banging."

Natty paused. "....I guess you're right... We'll have to wait until we're old enough to play instuments..."

Leyla shook her head, and started to bang on the pan she'd been given. "You're right, it is fun!"

Howl rolled his eyes. "Well now we have music while we cook."

Natty smiled. "You're right!" She looked at the stove and said, "The mac and cheese is almost done!" she skipped and fluttered around the kitchen helping Howl as best she could.

"Do you think Leyla can eat it?" Howl asked. "She's only got the two teeth."

Leyla stuck her tongue out. "I can eat!" she said. "Just not hard stuff."

"Well, then the mac and cheese should be fine!" Natty said happily. Truth be told, she hand't even thought of that, beings she forgot how old Leyla was with her speaking at their level. "Get some glasses, Howl! I'm going to try something." Once Howl had grabbed the glasses, she turned and grabbed a carton of juice from the fridge and opened the lid. Concentrating as hard as she could, she began to make the juice come out of the carton; swirling and twisting, heading towards the glasses.

"I'm hungry," Leyla complained, chewing on her hand while watching the juice. She was fascinated. How was the older girl doing that? It wasn't fair!

Howl put the glasses on the table, not willing to get juice on him.

Natty carefully placed the juice in the glass, and went to pour the other two glasses. "It's pretty, but I'm not good enough to do it very fast," she said, smiling. She grabbed a few plates and held them out. "Time to dish up the plates and dig in!" Natty placed the plates and the table along with the juice and grabbed a couple of forks. "What do you think?" she asked Howl and Leyla. "Did we do a good job?"

Leyla took a handful of macaroni off her plate and shoved it into her mouth. "This is good!" she said, sounding surprised.

"No need to be so surprised," Howl muttered, taking a bite. "We make a good team."

"We do!" Nattie said, grabbing a forkful of mac and cheese. "Hey, where's Calcifer?" she asked, looking around. "I thought for sure he'd be supervising or helping us..."

Howl smirked suddenly. "I'm sure he'll pop up sometime," he said. He had noticed Calcifer lurking behind her earlier.

"I want some," the fire demon piped up. "I'm hungry."

"There he is!" Leyla said, pointing with a cheesy hand.

Natty jumped, startled at the fire demon. "Calcifer!" she cried happily. "I've missed you!!" Then she offered a forkful of mac and cheese to him. "Want some?"

Calcifer opened his mouth in response.

"He's missed you too," Howl said. "And your treats."

"I found him," Leyla said smugly. "I found him."

Natty dropped a few forkfuls of mac and cheese into Calcifer's mouth. "Okay, I'll grab the cookies!" Natty said. She skipped off to the hallway to grab her Toy story backpack. "Lookie! I made chocolate chip cookies!" she said, holding up a large bag of cookies.

"Cookies?" Calcifer repeated eagerly. He loved Natty's treats, more than he loved maple wood--and that was saying a lot.

"I can't eat them," Leyla said with a pout.

"Hm..." Natalie thought. "What about some pudding? I have chocolate pudding cups."

"What's chocolate?" Leyla asked. "What's pudding?"

Howl sighed. "She doesn't know anything... about food," he added, when Leyla glared at him. "Chocolate's the best thing ever."

"Just wait and see, it's indescribable, it's good!" Natty grabbed a pudding cup out of her bag and handed it to Howl to open. She skipped out into the kitchen to grab a spoon.

Howl opened the pudding cup. "You won't like it, Cal," he said, smiling at the fire demon. "It's too wet."

Natty skipped back to the table. "But you can have a cookie!" she said. She tossed a cookie to the fire demon.

Calficer caught the cookie in his mouth. With much gobbling, he swallowed and opened his mouth for another.

Leyla looked at the spoon Natty was holding, then she looked at Howl's pudding cup. "Looks messy."

Natty nodded. "It is messy. Maybe Howl or I could feed it to you." She tossed another cookie to Calcifer. "Do they taste good Calcifer?"

"I want you to feed me!" Leyla said. "Please," she added, remembering her manners. Natty was much nicer than Howl.

"Perfect as ever, Natalie," Calcifer assured her. The fire demon was especially fond of this friend of Howl's.

"Sure!" Natty said, grabbing the pudding cup from Howl. She tossed another cookie to Calcifer, and then threw one at Howl's head for fun. "What do we do after we're done?" she asked.

Calcifer gobbled the cookie greedily.

Howl caught the cookie in his hand. "You tried to hit me!" he whined. "Do you know how much that would have hurt? I could have died!" He took a bite of the cookie, much more polite than his fire demon. "Thank you," he added.

"Howl do I eat it?" Leyla asked, glancing at the spoon.

Natty laughed. "You don't eat the spoon, silly!" she said, getting some pudding on the spoon. "You eat what's on the spoon!"

Taking Liberty of posting this in best friend's journal. To be continued.

Quote:
Howl dialed Maru's cell phone number. He didn't want Natty to pick up the phone, not when he was facing facing voice issues. "Maru?" he asked, his voice soaring into an almost impossible pitch. "Don't tell Natt," he pleaded, his voice cracking. "Do you know any way to fix this?"

Maru picked up her phone and had to stifle a laugh when she heard the voice on the line. "Hey Howl," she laughed. "No sweetie, I won't tell Natalie." Maru frowned when she heard Howl's question. "I'm sorry honey, I don't know. I've never had to deal with it before." Maru felt bad, she hated not being able toi help... Then she had an idea. "Oh, sweetie, I know! Why don't you talk to Luke? I bet he'd know!" She smiled, handing over the phone to Luke without een waiting for a response.

"Howl?" Luke asked, confused. "What's happening? What did you do to Natty?"

"What do you mean?" Howl squeaked. "I didn't do anything to Natty! Why would I?" he paused. "Luke, do you know how to fix my voice? When I asked dad, he just laughed at me."

Luke facepalmed. "Your dad laughed at you? Oh geez...I guess we're going to have a talk. In the meantime, try some tea with honey. Sometimes that helps keep your voice a bit more normal."

"Honey and tea?" Howl asked doubtfully. "Are you sure? Because Dad said there's no cure." He paused. "What kind of talk?"

"It works sometimes, you'll never know until you try. There's really no for sure cure. I'll explain to you or your dad, or Ben will. Where is your dad anyhow?" Luke asked. "I feel like Maru and I might need to have a talk with him."

"Dad's in the living room," Howl said. "Could you and Natty come over? As long as she doesn't laugh at me..."

"Of course! We'll be there soon! We just have to pick up Natty." Luke hung up the phone and looked at Maru. "We're going to go alk to Vate. Wanna give Thali and Ben a call? I might need back up!" Maru nodded and dialed Thali's number. "Hey Thali, we need assistance."

Thali grinned as she picked up the phone. "With Vate?" she asked. "Ben won't come though; they had a bit of a fall out," she said. "I'll be there in a moment!"

"Thanks Thali! See you soon!" Maru hung up the phone. "Thali will be there. Let's go get Natty from the sitters."

Ten minutes later, Maru, Luke and Natty met up with Thali outside Vate's house.

Thali was practically glowing when she waved to the three. This was one of her better days. "Hey Maru!" she said, hugging her friend. "Luke. Natty! You look adorable."

"Thank chu!" Natty said happily, hugging Thali. She stepped back, looking at Thali's stomach. "What's in there?" she asked innocently.

Thali beamed. "A baby," she said. "Her name's going to be Trinity. Maybe you'll babysit for me?" she ruffled Natty's hair before leaning into Maru's ear to whisper, "That's why Ben and Vate started to fight. She's Vate's."

Maru's face made an O shape. "How did that happen?"

Natty beamed. "Sure! Howl can help!" She patted Thali's stomach. "Hi Trinity! We'll be great friends!"

"Darcy," Thali said with a slight frown. "Ben tried to kick me out when he found out," she sighed and shook her head. "You'd think he would know better by now." She pulled Natty into a hug.

Maru frowned. "He really should know better. Luke understood after I explained everything. If you ever need a place to stay or anything, you just call us, okay?"

Natty hugged Thali. "When's the baby going to get here?"

"Soon," Thali promised Natty with a smile. "Thanks Maru, I'll remember that. Let's go inside then," she suggested.

Luke nodded. "Let's do this!" He walked up and pushed the door bell. "Vate! Howl! It's usss!" Maru called happily. "Vate didn't explain the voice change, he just laughed," Luke whispered to Thali. "We figured we talk to Vate or explain to Howl."

Thali snickered. "You'd think he'd remember," she said. "But maybe that part of his memory hasn't come back yet. I think we should talk to Howl. Vatey won't."

She opened the door, not bothering to knock. "Come on in," she said.

Natty skipped past Thali. "Howwwwwl! Where are arrrrrrrrrre you?" She called, walking towards his room. She knocked on the door. "Hoooowl!"

Maru and Luke skeptically walked after Thali. "Let's at least tell Vate we're here," Maru said, feeling uncomfortable wandering through someone's house without them knowing.

"Vatey! We're here!" Thali called. There was a grumbling sound from the livingroom. "He's happy to see you guys," Thali translated. "He hasn't been feeling good lately. It doesn't help that we think Stasia's been cheating on him. She hasn't come to see him since Leyla was born."

Howl came out of his room. "What talk?" he asked.

Natty simply shrugged. "I don't know, Daddy didn't want to tell me. He said I'd learn later."

Maru frowned. "I didn't realize things had gotten that bad! Why would Stasia do something like that? Poor Vate!"

Luke frowned. "Poor guy," he agreed. "We can help out and have the changes talk with Howl, I suppose. Least we can do for the poor guy."

Maru nodded. "We could make him a nice dinner after we talk to Howl. Bet he'd like a nice meal and dessert cooked for him."

"He'd love that," Howl said suddenly. "I'll help!" he summoned a cookie and offered it to Natty. "I've really missed you," he squeaked.

Vate came into the hall; and the elf looked awful. He was a silvery blue, in contrast with his usual vibrant navy. "Hey guys," he said. He seemed somehow thinner. The normally buff elf had gotten scrawny. As if he was losing muscle.

Natty took the cookie with a smile. "Thank chuu Howl!" she said happily. "I've missed you too!" She gave Howl a big hug. "We're gonna hang out lots more!"

Maru glanced at Vate. She was no expert on elves, but she was pretty sure they weren't supposed to look like that. "How are you doing Vate? I mean really!" Natty looked up at Vate happily.

"We're gonna make you nummy stuff, Mr. Howl's Dad!:

Luke nodded. "After we explain the voice issue with Howl."

Howl smirked. "You're welcome," he said. "Let's go on a date," he said. "I'll take you out for hot chocolate." He took her hand and kissed it. "I've always loved you."

Vate shrugged. "I'm fine," he said. "Thali's made sure of that. Forcing soup down me," he started to complain. "I'm tired of chicken noodle. I hate soup."

Natty frowned. "Howl, I like you, but-- what about Sophie?"

Luke skillfully avoided looking as this conversation unfolded, counting to ten as he did so.

Maru smiled at Luke and leaned over to him. "Teenager honey, you better get used to it."

"Don't worry Mr. Howl's Dad. We won't make you icky soups. We'll make you yummys."

Maru groaned slightly. "She didn't mean anything, she doesn't like soup in general. Sorry Thali! No offense to your cooking."

Natty nodded. "Sorry Auntie Thali! I wuv you!"

"So Vate, what's your favorite meal? We'd be more than happy to make it for you."

Howl frowned. "But Natty," he whined. "I love you. And Sophie," he added. "I love you more, though. And I'm single and lonely," he said convincingly. "Please?"

Vate had to think about it. He didn't want them to go to too much trouble. "I like spagetti. And garlic bread."

Natty looked at Howl, his eyes pleading. Truth be told, she really did like him. A lot. "Okay Howl, I'd love to go out with you." She smiled and gave him a peck on the cheek when the adults weren't looking.

Maru smiled happily. "Well then, spagetti and garlic bread it is. Now just name a dessert and we'll get started on it as soon as "the talk" is done." She smiled warmly at Vate.

"Really?" Howl asked happily. He made sure Luke was looking when he kissed her cheek. "Me too." He felt slightly guilty; or he would have, if he had had a heart. "I love you."

Vate opened his mouth to say something, but Thali interrupted. "Brownies would be nice."

Luke silent fumed. He sent a glare Howl's way when Maru wasn't looking.

"Well, dad'll be extra protective now that we're dating," she said laughing. "I love you too, Howl!" Somewhere in the back of her head, she knew how Howl's story would end; with Sophie, not her. But she chose to ignore that messege for now and see what would occur. She really did like him.

Maru nodded happily. "Brownies it is. Now boys, let's get down to business, shall we?"
PostPosted: Tue Feb 08, 2011 1:57 pm

Dear Natalie,

Happy Valentines Day! It's wonderful to be able to write you again. I've wanted to for days, but strange things have been happening lately. Mom's been acting weird and Dad's still sick. Dad's been spending a lot of time with Aunt Thali--maybe you should tell your mom that. I'm sure she would like to hear that, if you know what I mean.

But anyway, Natty, I wanted to assure you that you are loved this year, Valentines, 2011. I wanted you to know how much I care for you. You are my best friend. My girlfriend, my everything. My heart sings out to you, even though I am an unmusical welshman. You are my angel in the night. You are my light that shines, guiding me in the right direction. You are the piece of chocolate cake--I won't finish that thought. You are my fire, my one desire. There's something about us, Natty, that I've gotta say. I just want you to know, I want to be your Romeo. If you asked me if I loved you, I wouldn't lie. I'd shout it to the world. I'd declare my never ending love for you.

You're all I ever wanted, you're all I ever needed. All I ever wanted was to make you mine. My true love. Once, I thought love was only true in fairytales, but you made me a believer. Nobody told me I was going to find you, my Natty. Love is a river we'll keep flowing; because we're going to keeping going down the road of passionate thought. I'll tell you all the secrets you want to hear, Natty.

We're so close to embracing that famous happy end; and we will live it forever, my Natty. If I wasn't afraid of heights, I'd take you far above the stars. I would be your wings. Your only love. We're no strangers to love, Natalie. We've grown up surrounded by it. I think you're fine, you're always on my mind. Love is where we are, Natty.

I'll be the one. The one you should call; and I've been standing here all along. Without you, my love, I would be all by myself. I absolutely love you, when you smile. I will mend the broken wings of your love, and we'll be set free. Can't you see, Natty, that you belong with me? I've been here all along. We were both young when I first saw you. I remember the time well. I couldn't have known that it was fate, that we would end up in love.

I love you, Natty,

Howl

(Have you noticed yet, Maru, that he's using lines from every love song I know you know? In order, the songs are--

Reserved for new journal entry soon, I promise. I'm having a bit of writer's block: far too many ideas that are only half there, but I will sort them out and post very soon. Thanks for the patience! ~ heart Maru

Dear Natty,

I'm wonder struck; wondering if you know that I love you. Gaia's a world of dreams and when I'm around you, it's like stars are exploding around us.Natty, life's not the easiest--death, heartbreak, pain--reality might be a nice place, but I wouldn't want to live there.

I contacted Sophie like you suggested, or rather, attempted to do so. I wrote her a letter. She has yet to respond. I know I shouldn't be so pessimistic, but I don't think she will. Things look grim, Natty. Lights are going out around me. I'm so used to being around her, I don't know what to do with myself. I dream of a life I once loved.

Forcing laughter and faking smiles isn't how I want to be, Natty. But when I know Sophie's alive--knowing everything I've been told up to this point is a lie--I wonder if what I told your father is true. Wishing she was here doesn't help; I don't know if I wish it or not. I suppose I do--but what if I don't? What if in this life, I'm supposed to let this go? What if in this life, I'm supposed to be with you? I don't know what I'm supposed to do, Natty. Sometimes I feel as if I can feel my heart beating within me--and sometimes I think it's someone else's.

If I had a compass like Jack Sparrow's, I don't know where it'd point. At you? At Sophie? At some portal leading to Ingary? How can I know my heart's true desire if I haven't a heart? Everything seems slower when I'm alone--and I know I didn't see Sophie that often, but knowing that she wouldn't be there if I wanted to see her... Do you think if I broke a mirror, I'd have better luck? I can only wish I cross Sophie's mind, and she remembers me.

When I met her the first time, on May Day, it might have been love at first sight. I walked by and she caught my eye--it wasn't coincidence that she arrived at my castle when the Witch cursed her. I love her, Natty--but if she's going to do things like this... I miss you, Natty. I need a hug. I've been having those nightmares again, sometimes I get to the point where I feel too tired to fall asleep. Can you imagine it?

Call me,

Howl
