"Are you sure you should be, though?" The butterfly asked, flicking her antennae and tilting her head worriedly. She wanted to go home - despite how much trouble she knew she would be in - but she didn't think that her new Granpa was up to the trip, not with th way he kep almost falling over and how very sick he seemed
"It probably wouldn't be good to make Ellandra sick, she already got sick once and it hurt the babies, so getting sick again might make it worse." She paused again, fluttering her wings a little bit. He seemed so very ill. . . carefully, she gently patted him on the arm - or rather, on the air just above it, he still seemed to be the don't-touch-me type for some reason, even though she didn't know why - and said, "We can take our time; I want you to feel better, okay, Granpa Vin-Vin?" And she did.
The little flutterby knew nothing of her sibling-Zi's much less pleasant encounter with Vin, and so wasn't wary of him in the least, simply treating him like she treated any other members of her kind, like anyone that she cared about. She didn't think anything unusual about it in the least. "Okay, but how should I hide under it? I've never hidden under something before, always in a basket."

”I'll be FINE, how many more times do I have to tell you...” Shush, lassie. This big idiot's been through hotter fires, trust me. ”We wouldn't risk your Ellandra falling ill, hmm. I'd be aaaaall sad if that happened because of me.” … well, maybe not, but I wouldn't like it. You don't mess with poor pregnant ladies, nothing could go more against his honour. Also, letting a little lost maiden wait just because I have a *cough*? Honestly now, what sort of chivalry is that.
”Now now, you should set your priorities straight, little one, you barely even know me.” Thank the gods, he was stabilising. At least she didn't appear in triple any longer, and now that he stood up straight, his chest wasn't as tight anymore. Every breath still rattled and hitched, but he wouldn't pass out from lack of oxygen anytime soon.
”C'mere young miss, if you're so eager to cuddle why not do it right.” Vin beckoned her over gently, indicating she should try to hide against him, and he'd draw his cloak over her. At least he'd had a (rain)shower last night, so she wouldn't have to suffer through too heavy male scent. Not that the feeling of someone's cold sweat was any more pleasant, but it was that or be seen.

Rhian cuddled close to th older Essentic, still worried for him but not saying it. She snuggled close to him gladly, unmindful of the cold sweat, and furled her wings up a bit so that they would be more easily concealed by the cloak.
"Can I hug you, Granpa Vin-vin?"
It wwas a sincere request, one she hoped he wouldn't brush off. She thought he really needed a hug - he looked like he hadn't had one in a long, long time.

”... uhhh... sure, why not.” Silly little girl, if you want to, I won't stop you.
”But no squeezing too hard?” Aww, old men bruise easily, you knew that? Of course Vin was only joking, and he even managed to crack a weary-playful smile at her. He didn't know how he'd feel, pressed against some... huge person, but he knew he wanted to put her at ease. On the other hand, it was rather odd an experience to have a big butterfly-sister so close to him. Oh well.
Laying his arm around her and drawing his hood up with the other, he slowly set himself into motion then, finding it manageable not to sway too much once he was up to speed. Time to go home, lass.
”... you'll have to remind me what subdistrict Farstep's at nowadays, or help me look out for signposts...” he said to her quietly, before heading out the building.

Rhian hugged her newly adopted Granpa, all snug-snug but not too tight, just the kind of hug she loved to give. "Thank you for letting me hug you, and for taking me home," the butterfly said, still all snuggled up to Vin.
"But I can't help you find Farstep, I only know it's . . . . that way somewhere," she said, pointing in a direction that she thought she'd come from.

”... no problem, li'l miss.” Gawh, was the big dude being mushyyyy? Whatever it was, it firmly stuck a weak mellow smile on his face, and it wasn't going away anytime soon, not even as he stepped outdoors and glanced around.
”Ah? Good, then we'll go there, hmm.” And off they went, Rhian securely hidden under his cloak. Even if you had some traits that shouldn't be seen, it wasn't all that hard to hide in public if you minded only your own business, and nothing but. There was a trick to it, observing your surroundings without people noticing they were being scanned. Apart from basic caution, Vin really couldn't be bothered with checking every corner twice, though. It was hard enough focusing as it was, but luckily he only had to sidestep into an alley to let another coughing fit pass over once during the whole walk. It left him a bit shakier than before, but no harm done. Yes, after he'd brought Rhian back safely, he'd do as she asked and just... curl up and rest.
Soon enough, the sounds and scents of Farstep reached through the streets, and the Essentic quickened his pace, falling into a purpose-driven stride.
”Found it... where do you want me to drop you off? Wouldn't want you to get lost again...” He spoke to her quietly, chest heaving with slow, shallow breaths, heart hammering in an an naturally fast, but regular rhythm. Unlike Faolan's, Vin's ticker was quite well-harnessed against overdrive, it just had to do double tours to try and keep his blood pressure up.

Rhian was quiet through most of their trip, only speaking up when they finally reached the carnival grounds. "Oh, um. . . I can't really fly through Farstep in the middle of the day, can you get us close to Ellandra and Ellandr-husban'ds vardo? It's that one over there," she said, pointing out th vardo in the distance.
"You can just drop me on the steps, I pretend I'm a doll a lot!" She chirped, hugging the lder Essentic yet again. Her wings unfurld a little so she culd flutter slightly. "I'm probably going to get in trouble," she amitted, her antennae flicking slightly. "I may never taste fluffy treat again!"
Melodramatic much, little flutterby? Perhaps sneaking out wasn't worth it in the long run then, hm? Well, she'd have plenty of time to think about it once she was placed under lock and key by Ellandra and Ellandra-husband.
"Thank you for helping me get here," Rhian said again, sincere in her appreciation and wondering if there was another reason - besides not wanting to get Ellandra sick - that he didnt' want to take her directly home.

”Certainly, milady.” Hop, there we go, no problem. Just a tall bored scumbag passing through, awh shush, I'm not here to make trouble. It had become a second nature for him to completely ignore the general distrusting glances cast his way. As long as he didn't make any moves that would further alarm the people around, they had no reason to create a stir.
Once deeper into the carnival grounds, in the less freely-roamed space, he gave her a little more room to move, softly patted her to try and return the hug-favor. Gaw, he had to admit he quite liked the little flutterby. Been a while since he'd encountered a source of such unconditional trust. ”Don't you worry little Rhian... nothing lasts forever, not even food-bans. As long as you're safe, everything's okay, no? Who'd help your Ellandra out if you were taken away, you think.”
”Ah, no problem, really. Anything for a fair maiden.” he chuckled lightly as he cautiously approached the vardo with her. ”Ah, I'll just... take care you, alright?” With that, he ever so quietly, swiftly, shunted the door open a little, helped her get out from under his cloak, and slip inside. He wouldn't have her just... flop here, who knows when she'd be taken inside, or taken AWAY again.

Rhian tilted her head and hummed happily when Vin patted her, always loving any sign of affection, and she could tell what that small gesture meant. "You're right, I musn't let Ellandra go without help! She's too sad too much, I have to make it better!"
Then they were to the vardo, and she barely managed to get out a soft "You too! Goodbye!" Before she was slipped through the door and almost immediately captured in a hug by her terribly worried owner-mother, who was crying and worried and Rhian had no more time to think about her Granpa Vin-vin, or to mention him as she was checked over for injuries and then lectured for running away and how she had "better not do that ever, ever again, do you hear me flutterby?"
Still, she hoped her new friend and adopted Granpa would get better - and find a nicer place to sleep than where she'd found him. She wondered if he'd been lost, too, and if so, she hoped he got home again safely.

Needless to say, Rugovin got out of there as quickly -and unsuspiciously- as possible. He really didn't want to encounter Ziazan again, not on its terrain, that would be incentive enough for it to have every right to be pissed to him, and because he really wasn't in the damn mood now.
.. or the shape.
Time to head out and die a little again, he'd be over this in a few days. And all the while, he'd have his fingers crossed for Rhian and Lauss both.
Silly kids...
