Blood type. I think whether you accept or reject an organ is based on your blood type and the condition of the organ itself, as well as any pre-existing conditions that you have.

If they aren't synthetic organs, they'd wear out quickly, wouldn't they? It makes more sense if they're synthetic.

Or I could have no idea what I'm talking about and need someone to correct me. sweatdrop

No, that's exactly right. Just what I was about to say. Even organ transplants in our time can't be done unless the previous owner of the organ had the same blood type as you. So if you're O+, organs are easy to find. If you're AB-... Well, I hope you've made your peace. XD

But I think the organs are synthetic. I mean, real organs WOULD wear out really fast, and maybe not function as well, you know?

yea the organs are most likely synthetic or else we'd all be rotting litterally from the inside out from the organs that were supposed to save us. actually that does sound a bit repo-esque if you think about it..........

The body automatically tries to reject anything that isn't its own so everyone would be on medication so their body does not reject the organ. Having the same blood type just makes the transplant possible with help of medicine.
So this makes me think that GeneCo has come up with a synthetic or grown organ that is more compatable to any donor recipient.
Hmm now I wonder how it's supposed to be and if the technical aspects were figured out by the repo creators.

Someone should ask Terrance this question.

Zydrate comes in a little glass vial...

GeneCo has a Organ Protection Policy and routine maintenance medical examinations protect your investment. You can also return your new organ if you are not completely satisfied.

Ask a Gentern if Zydrate is right for you!

My big question was, how can you replace a brain?

First of all a brain becomes liquid when it leaves the fluid in your head, or isn't suspended immediately in liquid.

Second of all, wouldn't replacing someone's brain make them an entirely different person?

Unless of course the brains are similar to how Blind Mags eyes work, and you can like transfer information from the old real brain, to the new synthetic brain.

First of all, that is really cool about the whole brain thing I did not know that.

Well lets see what GeneCo has to deal with:
Transplanting personal info to certain organs such as eyes and brains
Organ Refusal
Blood type
Pre-existing conditions
Rotting organs
Organ satisfaction

That is a lot to deal with.

Good thing Rotti's rich and impossible to sue, or he'd be bankrupt in a heartbeat.

He would be so sued they would have to create a new word for the meaning.

Caiterlin
I always wondered if the organs they sold were made by them or if they use people's organs. If so do they resell repo-ed organs? It seems like that was the case BUT if so why don't people's bodies reject the organs?
I asked Terrance that once. He told me that in the early stages of planning, Zydrate was meant to be an immunosuppressant as well as a painkiller. I suppose that still holds true now?

Side note: He's such a sweetheart. I come up with the weirdest questions, and he's very good-natured about answering them. XD

I get the feeling that the guys figured a lot of that stuff out. For one thing, according to the script (woo-hoo, eBay prop auctions! heart ), when a repossession is completed, the organ in question automatically freezes itself and the body, so it stays fresh.

Plus, I don't know and Darren Smith, but Terrance outgeeked my biotech-nerd self the first time we talked. The man is incredibly intelligent. If not all, I'm sure he's at least got ideas about most of it.

He is very intelligent....
But that's interesting about the zydrate thing, a very good idea....
I had the same idea for the immediate freezing of the organ/body. If not the world would smell TERRIBLE. Not to mention all the plagues that would erupt from the rotting bodies.

Good thoughts. I'd always thought that's why everyone was covering their mouths or breathing from bottles in the Sanitarium Square scene, though, because of the smell of rotting bodies. I dunno...maybe they unfreeze after a while?
