"Yeah," Faolan said softly. He couldn't think of anything else to say, really. He moved to look out across the carnival at the sunset, tilting his head a bit. "Look at that, Elle." He wondered if the beauty of the setting sun would do much to lift his wife's spirits.

"Hmm?" Ellandra sighed softly and snuggled close to her husband, trying to force all thoughts, all fears from her mind and just look. It wasn't easy, far from it. But somehow it was . . . soothing, at least. Very soothing. For the first time in days, the brunette actually relaxed, tension creeping from her body, at least a little. Oh, she still blamed hersef, but. . . everyone needs a break from something now and then, and she needed to rest from the self-blame she'd laid on her shoulders.

Faolan made a soft noise, feeling the woman relax against him. "We're gonna be okay, you know," he told her quietly, taking in the sunset. Taking her hand in his, interlacing their fingers, he gave it a soft squeeze. The babies are still gonna get born and whatever happens, just . . . happens. We'll take it as it comes. You can't go blamin' yourself and, for my part, I'm gonna try not to blame myself either."

Ellandra nodded, biting her lip and snuggling up to Faolan. "I - I know. . . it's just. . . I - I was . . .. I wanted them to - to be healthy. . ." She trailed off for a long time, and then sighed softly, squeezing Faolan's hand. ".... I -I'm scared, but.... I - I want to know what's wrong... if - if something is...... s-so that . . . we can - can be ready for it," she paused to regather her thougts, then continued, "If - if we know in advance. . . m-maybe we'll be able to - to take better care of them th-than iff we're. . . surprised. . ." She was trying, h, she was trying, but so were the tears again, and despite her best efforts she was having trouble keeping them at bay.

Faolan nodded. "Not a bad idea, lass. We could have Zia try and look or see what Grandmother's deck says. I'm not sure when the kid will be back, but it shouldn't be long." He moved around and leaned down, kissing Ellandra's belly, arms around her waist in a loose hug, then rested his head against her stomach to listen to the beating hearts of his children within.

Ellandra sighed softly, starting to stroke Faolan's hair again - a gesture that was becoming something of a habit, and a comforting one at that, at least for the brunette. "Do..... do their hearts sound l-like usual.. a-at least?" She asked tentatively, hoping that the answer was yes. She was still upset, still afraid, but. . . being with Faolan helped so very much; she hoped her fortune-teller knew that.
Meanwhile, Rhian, satisfied that her owner-mama was taking the proper steps to getting better and happy again, was looking for something to do while Ellandra, Faolan, and Ziazan were all busy. She thought about trying some more of the magic tricks her sibling had thaught her, but wasn't really in the mood for them. Then she remembered the little bottle of lavender-smelly stuff that had been all-but-forgotton during the trauma of the last few days, and she fluttered over to the shelf where it rested. It took a little effort, but she managed to get the bottle open somehow - and wound up spilling half of it over her head when she tried to "dab it" as she'd been told. "Eep! Slick-slick!" she yelped, but was still rather pleased with the way the scent seemed to swallow her up now. This wasn't how she'd planned it, but, hey, this worked well enough!

"They sound alreet," Faolan murmured, accent thickening slightly. "Wish you could hear 'em, too." He sighed, then the ear not pressed to his wife's belly twitched, an idea forming. Reaching over, he began tapping a staccato beat on the steps with his fingertips, matching the rhythm of the tiny hearts of their unborn children. It wasn't a fancy machine for Ellandra to hear them for herself, but perhaps it would do for now.

Ellandra blinked, startled at first by Faolan's tapping - until she figured out what he meant by it. "Thank you," she whispered, stroking his hair as a small smile made its way onto her face for the first time in days.

Faolan smiled up at her, love showing in his eyes. "Least I could do." He sat up, hand resting silent on the steps now, his posture making him lean over her a bit. He kissed her deeply, feeling some of the passion he'd been missing since the trip to the emergency room. After a moment, he broke the kiss and rested his forehead against hers, careful of his horns, and sighed. "We'll be okay, Elle. What life don't go to the trouble on the bad to be soon giftin' those down on their luck with something good."

Ellandra sighed. "I hope so. . . I'm just. . . this is. . . " She couldn't find the words to really describe it. Finally she just sighed again snd snggled close to her husband. "I really do hope you're right."

"Well, of course I'm right. It's my job to tell fortunes, yeah?" Faolan chuckled, grinning at his wife. He wanted so much for her to laugh and smile for him again. Life would be okay again if she'd just look at him, even just once, the way she used to again.

Ellandra smiled, then, an old thought popping into her mind as she hugged Faolan, snuggling up to him. "I thought your job was "to take lots and lots of money from those that deserve it"," she said, her mind going back to her very first meeting with her fortune-teller, and how Ziazan had attempted to blurt that very statement out. Thinking about it, even with the recent, heartrending trauma, she had to admit that her life was far, far better now than it had ever been before that evening -not really that long, she supposed- ago.

Fao blushed a little, ears lowering. "Er, well . . . it is, but sometimes I get a fortune right." He grinned a bit, about to say more before Zia wandered up.
The Essentic noticed them and gave a shy wave. "Hi. Are you two friends again?"

Ellandra smiled softly, tilting her head at Faolan. "Many times, I think," she said, and then looked over at Ziazan with a smile. "Yes..... now come here, please, Ziazan?" She could tell that either the general mood of the vardo had affected the alter like it had Rhian, or that something else was wrong, just because of how shy Ziazan was acting right now.

Faolan shrugged a bit, and pulled Ellandra over to sit in his lap so the Essentic could sit with them.
Zia nodded and sat down, leaning into Fao's side, comfortable with its "parents" and being close with them. "Glad you two feel better now. It was a bit tense. Also, Fao barks in his sleep."
