"Am holding tight," insisted Six, who was starting to get used to the swinging sensation. Her equilibrium sensors had adjusted by now, so it wasn't disorienting at all. She could feel the wind ruffling her hair about a bit, and it was making her eyes water - she was an android, but some of her components were made to mimic biological organs... with some improvements, of course.

"Is fun," she said in judgement. "I guess."

Tune went around behind the other girl and gave her a somewhat awkward push. He remembered his mother pushing him on swings like this as a child, but that had been quite a long time ago. The girl swung back towards him and he gave her another push, starting to get the hang of it.

Six giggled contentedly, which startled Tune - she was such a somber child. It was the first time he'd heard her laugh.

Jack's smile returned, full and warm, and he pushed a little harder to raise Six higher. "It's kinda like flyin', innit?" he offered. "Reggie loves the swings here."

His daughter was also apparently a pro at them and had begun swinging her legs in time with Tune's awkward pushes so she could gain more height. "Thank you," she whispered. Then she turned her head to offer the other man a small smile over her shoulder. It was shy and charming and gave every impression of being a rarity.

Jack nodded at Tune to show his own gratitude. "I'm thinkin' of puttin' a swing up in one o' the oaks in my yard back home. Just so we don't have t' come down here all the time."

Tune found himself a bit caught off-guard by Regina's quiet 'Thank you'. She was so undeniably similar to Six - their voices, their appearances, even their mannerisms.

He was glad that Regina was better than him at this swinging thing, or else she would probably be on the ground by now, and he did not want to be responsible for breaking a child.

Six glanced over at the other girl and saw what she was doing with her legs. Ooh! How did that work? She gave it a try, and though she didn't understand the physics of it, it seemed to be working. She laughed again, unsure of what else there might be to say under such circumstances.

Tune stopped pushing for a moment, amazed at how downright cheerful Six seemed, and then struggled to recover lost momentum. "She's never like this," he fumbled. Six was usually so serious...

"Where did you... er... get Reggie?" he asked. Obviously the girl wasn't his biological child. But maybe the girls had some sort of common origin?

Voice lowered in the hopes that his daughter would not overhear, Jack answered, "A box showed up at my house an' there she was, poor thing, inside."

If she heard, Regina showed every evidence of ignoring the distressing memory. She kicked her small feet again to purchase more height and tilted her head back to look straight up, past the bar above and straight into the blue sky. "Swings are nice," she announced softly and the sideways look she suddenly gave Six indicated that the comment was for her specifically.

"A-" sputtered Tune. "A box?" he asked. "Like, a cardboard box? Or a big metal crate."

"Came in a crate," nodded Six, and Tune hesitated a bit because he didn't think she'd remember that. But maybe she had heard him and Tristan talking about it. She couldn't remember being in the box, could she? "Like swingin'," she nodded, easily changing the subject.

"My boss ordered a combat android," he repeated. "She came in a box."

This was too damn weird.

Jack nodded, mouth tight. "So did she," he responded quietly. "Scared outta her mind, I reckon. Don't know who does that t' a little girl like that."

Sensing her father's change in mood, Regina stopped kicking with her feet and, without Tune's aid, her momentum slowed. Her fingers tightened on the chains with the faint squeal of warping metal. "Daddy?" she asked. "You're not happy."

Immediately, Jack reached out the hand closest to his daughter and managed to ruffle her hair as she passed, his other hand still gently guiding Six in her swing. "Nope, princess," he agreed but his accompanying smile was forced. "Your Da's just fine, though. What do you think of your new friend?"

Regina twisted obediently and studied Six. Then she smiled a bit, still uncertain but willing to try for her father. "Six is like me," she announced. "Six is good at swings."

"Am I?" asked Six, who had not realized she was doing a good job at it, although she had congratulated herself for not falling off. She was doing the leg pumping thing and she was going high. Higher than Regina, even! (She did not give her experienced pusher any credit.)

"I am!" she exclaimed, and momentarily let go of one of the chains. The swing wobbled dangerously and she grabbed hold again.

Tune, watching, felt his heart momentarily stop.

"Am not," sighed Six, and her swinging became less enthusiastic after that.

"I-" stammered Tune. "Did you? Had you ordered anything?" he asked. "From a specific company?"

He did not know where Tristan had ordered her android from, and doubted she would tell him if he asked.

"I ordered books but..." Jack shrugged and pushed more gently, barely moving Six in her arc anymore. "I checked the airship that delivered the box an' he didn't have any better idea. I got the books about a week later. Still don't know where Regina came from but..." He smiled at the little girl who was watching them both with big eyes. "She's here now an' I reckon I'll keep her."

Regina smiled crookedly, sharing the look with Tune. "I like my house," she informed him politely. "There are a lot of other people there."
