"Sure," Kaosu replied in a flat tone, clearly not believing the explanation. A hunting assistant? He had never heard of such a contraption. That would have to be one complex robot. No, there was only one kind of fully animated killing tool he was familiar with.
Ohoh, so the game was up. Eli had seen through his little charade. That was crippling surprise. Kao had known the man was no fool, and he had back up plans. "Who am I? I didn't lie. I've been Kaosu for decades," he stated honestly, dropping his act obediently. He shoved a thumb in Uvi's direction. "I'll tell you what I really want when you tell me what that thing really is. Because if my hunch is correct, that will determine my answer."

" I am a manmade hunting tool" Uzi responded voice still monotone. Essentics were not naturally occurring beings thus man made and the combat type's purpose had been defined as a hunter. Still the armored proto stood and extended it's claws " You will answer Eli's question." Kaosu was not here to provide them with a hunt and was now after annoying Eli something the lion like essentic had no intention of tolerating.

"Manmade hunting tool..." Kaosu repeated, sizing up the creature carefully. The atmosphere had turned pointedly hostile, therefore naturally his guard flew up. The feline was armored. Definitely Combat oriented. Had it been alone, Kao might have stood a slight chance of taking it down. He had killed "machines" like it before, hadn't he? With Eli and Kell present, however, that was not possible. "That makes two of us." He'd have to choose flight over fight.
Unfortunately, reckless as ever, he would not back down. "I'm not going to take orders from an Essentic. If your owner wants answers, he'll have to get them himself."

" How to do you know what it is?" Eli asked not bothering to deny the man's claim but not giving him Uzi's name either, as if that made much of a difference. " and what do you want?" It's not like Eli was anyone special. the auburn haired man stood but didn't yet reach for his gun, besides if a fight broke out he's stand a better chance of hitting Kell or Uzi then Kaosu.
Kell leapt to his feet as well, the dog snarling at the stranger, sensing the tension he was causing.
Uzi merely issued a low loud rumble of displeasure. The hunter was more than willing to kill the man before her if it came to it.

"So I was right, was I?" Kaosu purred, clearly amused that he could still identify the Essentics Banning had so discreetly distributed. "I suppose a Hunter never forgets formidable prey." That was enough information about himself. He needed to focus on avoiding a conflict. Conflict definitely would screw up his plans (not that they weren't already mostly dashed by this point anyways).
"Relaaaax, I'm retired. If I wanted to hurt you or that thing or that cute little dog of yours, I would have set traps or tried to snipe you from a distance or actually thought twice about approaching you. I'm not stupid enough to not know I'm at a disadvantage~"

" That in no way tells me what you want" Eli pointed out mildly disturbed that the other man had called kell cute even if it was sarcastic. That he implied he had hunted essentics was mildly distressing as well despite his claims of retirement. Assuming that too wasn't a lie. " If you have no actual threats to make or business with me I suggest you leave."
The man make a small motion with his right hand and Kell sprung forward snapping at kaosu. It was a warning as the dog was still several feet away but Eli was letting this intruder on his camp know he'd pretty much worn out his welcome.
" Were essentics particularly hard to hunt, did different types give varying degrees of difficulty?" Uzi inquired, the catlike proto still wasn't above attacking the man especially at Eli's command but it was curious now.

"That's not friendly at all," Kaosu retorted, pretending to pout. He had not been attempting to be sarcastic when he called Kell cute -he was simply stating a fact. "I'd tell you what I want from you, but I don't really know what that is anymore." He did not bother lying anymore. The truth always worked better for him, anyways.
He did not flinch as the canine obediently snapped at him. Well trained thing, wasn't it? Maybe he had taken his game a little too far. The situation was quickly growing tense. "But there's no need to be so hostile~"
When the Essentic addressed him again, Kao raised a brow. "Why do you want to know? Interested in hunting your own any time soon? Shrugging, he added, "Most Essentics were easy to kill. Obedient. But yes, type definitely influenced things. Magickers and Combats were a pain. Especially if they grew past alters..."

Eli was starting to wonder if this Kaosu person was mentally disturbed. Not that it made him less annoying or dangerous just mildly pitiable.
"I would not be easy to kill" Uzi protested, ignoring Eli's glare that said this wasn't a line of conversation the essentic should be engaging in. The hunting proto was loyal and obedient but also stubborn and curious, not to mention cocky. Uzi was certain they would not lose focus on the fact that this man was currently an enemy regardless of if uzi was currently engaged in conversation with them.

"You wouldn't?" Kaosu inquired, sounding slightly incredulous. "Don't be so sure. Hunting an Essentic is... different from Hunting an animal. You have me outmatched in everything from speed to strength and stamina..." He pointed to his head. "So I have to outmatch you up here. I don't think you're experienced enough to know how to deal with that kind of opponent." Hahah, this particular Essentic was not entirely obedient, was it? It was ignoring Eli's glare. How curious.
Kao did not mind preaching to the thing if it was an alternative to fighting.

" I'd rather you two didn't discuss who would or would kill who in a fight" Eli growled. Interesting as first hand information on the Hunt might be he really didn't need Uzi thinking about that sort of thing. Banning would probably kill him if Uzi got it in their mind to see how hard it would be to take out fellow essentics today. The gun incident with Lauss had been proof enough that when it came to the opportunity to hunt Uzi's rational mind shutoff in favour of being able to do what the proto wanted.
The orange armored essentic flicked it's feline like tail but when silent again the eerily yellow glow of it's eyes dimming. Satisfying it's curiosity and proving itself the better hunter was important to Uzi but bond that pulled Uzi to Eli and vice versa also dictated that it could only rebel against commands so much.

"Awww, you're not fun at all!" Kaosu pretended to pout again when Eli cut off his conversation with the strange Essentic. That cat was a peculiar one. It had been a long time since he had met one an AI with the nerve to kill others of its own kind. It was disgusting. "We were just having a little chat. I don't see you offering any alternative topics for discussion."
Ignoring the hostility in the air... provoking a hunter. He was really pushing his luck today.

Definitely mentally unstable, Eli thought shaking his head a little. " There isn't going to be further discussion." Out here in the middle of the wastelands was not the place to be chatting up crazies while your essentic apparently wondered how easy or hard it would be to kill their own kind. The shaggy, auburn haired man wondered just what he'd done to deserve ending up in this type of situation.
Kell continued to snarl at the other man, flecks of foamy white saliva flying from his pulled back lips, still the dog did not edge closer, not without command.
Uzi struggled to remain silent, there was so much the combat type wanted to know and yet it was not permitted to ask. Perhaps.. perhaps at another time, if Eli was not around. The lionlike proto had gone off on it's own before.

Kaosu knew he had piqued the Essentic's interest. Even if her owner was sufficiently careful -a refreshing trait to find in a guy like him these days- curiosity was definitely influencing the cat. "No further discussion? How unfriendly. I don't remember doing anything hostile to you... yet here you are threatening me with that cute puppy of yours." He kept a wary eye on Kell, prepared to bolt in the animal showed signs of attacking. Eli and his pets.
Pets. That gave Kao an idea. "There are a lot of things I could discuss to help that kitty of yours to become a better Hunter. But if you're not going to hear any of it, I'm wasting my time. And yours." Retreat was uncharacteristic for the redhead, but he was not quite finished with this stranger yet. Shrugging, he turned on his heel to walk away. "Have fun camping~ Hope you don't run into any rabid cougars."
