Oh God. She's a mind reader? "How did you--?" Lee put a hand to her mouth, afraid to say anymore. Afraid to think anymore. Ohgodohgodohgod. "I'm not... I won't be embarrassed... I..." What was she supposed to say? Nothing could have been worse than Ellandra learning that she was crushing on Faolan.
This world was so confusing. This made no sense to him at all. Nothing was black and white like he'd been thinking for so long. He wasn't unintelligent, sure, but this was very unsettling. It was like being told gravity, something so obviously real, suddenly was a lie. "How do I grow faster, Miss Ellandra. It is taking too long." He didn't want to read anymore. He wanted to sulk.

Rhian tilted her head. "Please don't be upset, everyone gets a... um. what's the word? Crush! on Ellandrahusband~!" She chirped, fluttering happily. Ellandra tried to shush her, her own face turning crimson in the wake of that statement. "I - sorry, miss Lee, my goodness Rhian you didn't have to say that out loud, flutterby!"
Turning to Lauss for the sake of avoiding the awkwardness, Ellandra tried to answer his uestion as best she could. "I don't know, LAuss. We all grow at different rates. Perhaps you just need something to jumpstart you."

Everyone gets a crush on Ellandra's husband...
It took a few blinks before it really sunk in. Oh, how it stung. Suppressing the urge to beat the little bug into the ground, Lee's jaw dropped. She wasn't sure which she was feeling more, anger or humiliation. Or possibly fear, as she looked over to Ellandra, shaking her head to deny the butterfly's words as best she could. "I don't--!" Lee looked to her feet; it was useless. They both knew Rhian wasn't lying. "I'm sorry..." she didn't have it in her to look up at Ellandra, hanging her head low in defeat. She wanted to say, "Please don't say anything," but thought that enough damage was already done, and that it might seem as if she was cared less about Ellandra than Faolan. "Sh-should I go?" This was humiliating, and Ellandra probably hated her.
She'd never hated another living creature as much as she hated Rhian now.
Lauss was too distracted by his owner to care about his own worries anymore. Wow. Lee was angry quite often, but even Lauss could sense the hate emitting from the girl. "Miss Rhian...?" He couldn't think of anything to say. His attention had been elsewhere throughout their conversation, and really wasn't sure how Rhian had managed to anger lee this much.
Interesting how petty teenagers could be.

Rhian's antennae flicked and her eyes widened. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to make it worse!" She yelped, before fleeing to the bedroom to perch in the rafters, hiding away frm the horrible hatred-emotion. She didn't like it. Not in the least. Meanwhile, Ellandra turned to Lee and grabbed her hand - gently, but keeping her from leaving. Lauss was forgotten for the moment.
"Lee, there''s nothing to be sorry for. It would be rather silly and petty of me for disliking or - or hating you over something like this. It's normal to get crushes, and Faolan ........ well, he is pretty wonderful, isn't he,?" She said seriously, but smiling a bit at the end of her statement. "Rhian semed to have absorbed Faolan and Ziazan's habit of blurting out things that needn't be said, and I apologize for that; but she didn't mean any harm. And really, I somewhat knew anyway - why else would you have come here looking for him, hmm? I wasn't a teenager that long ago, you know," she added. "I'm hardly old."
Her eyes softened further, and she smiled at Lee. "I'm not upset at you for getting a crush on my husband, Lee. ... but if you would rather leave, I understand and - e-erm, excuse me a minute," she said as her complexion went white, then green and she, too, ran for the bedroom, where sounds of heaving were heard before she came back out a few moments later, looking rather harried. "Sorry a-about that, miss Lee...."

Lauss kept his eye on Rhian, watching as she flew to the next room. Following her might help him get answers, as these two seemed to be somewhat engaged in something he couldn't understand. The proto glided after the other, finding her perched on a rafter above. Looking up at her with a tilted head, he spoke up, finding her even more curious than before. "How did you get Miss Lee so upset?" His tone wasn't angry, and not quite as surprised as before; it was more impressed than anything.
Lee shoulders hunched over, and she covered her face with both hands. This was... awful. "Why are you so nice about it?" she mumbled. Why would Lee feel all this guilt if nothing was wrong? She couldn't imagine many teenagers having crushes on adult, married men and still chasing after them. This was shameful in every way. "I won't come by anymore if you say not to." She didn't have it in her to look up at the woman, until...
Why was she running away? Lee hadn't seen her face change colors, and was oblivious to what was going on. Eyes wide, she was scared that maybe it was her who'd made her run. That was, until she heard those, rather disgusting, sounds coming from the bedroom. So that was it. Morning sickness. Somehow, that was what opened Lee's eyes. Why would Ellandra have been petty when she and Fao were having a child -- rather, multiple children? She had to be understanding, that was what being a good mother was about. "Are you alright?" Lee bit her lip as she looked at the woman in the eye for once. Lee was very petty, wasn't she? As if she weren't terrible enough. Why burden this woman with anymore worries? "You know... you don't have to call me 'Miss' Lee anymore." That was only for those below her; Ellandra was no where near Lee's level. "You're a very... good person, Ellandra. You'll be a good mother." She folded her fingers and looked back down, embarrassed to say such a thing to someone's face.

Rhian tilted her head at the odd Essentic, still feeling awful for having all that hate directed at her. Her antennae flicked slightly, and her confusion only increased when she realized he seemed. . . . impressed? How odd. Why would he be impressed by her making someone angry? That was a bad thing! "I said something I guess I wasn't supposed to say; I didn't mean to make her angryyyy!" There was a bit of a plaintive wail in the butterfly's tone as she answered the question.
Ellandra, still rather pale, took a seat on one of the kitchen chairs and sighed softly. "M-....... Lee, really, there's nothing for you to be ashamed of," she wasn't worried about the teenager "stealing" Faolan or anything, after all, the fortune-teller probably was completely oblivious to Lee's crush on him, the silly man. "After all, we both agree that Faolan's very attractive, hmm?" She said, a timid-but-secret-sharing smile appearing on her face. Sighing softly, she picked at her skirt a little. "And I'd like to think i'd be a good mother, Lee, but. . . I don't know that for sure. . ." She wso very afraid she wouldn't be, after all.

Lauss tilted his head. He almost seemed to be pitying the other proto, and he hovered slightly higher. "Miss Rhian shouldn't give it much thought. Miss Lee is always angry. I believe that it is just her way." He nodded to himself and tilted his head. Though Lauss didn't know this, Lee hadn't always been angry. Only after he showed up. However awful that may sound, though, it was a step up from what she'd been before: bottled up. She had a way to go, but perhaps she could get all her baggage out someday, though for now it was the angry phase. "I also hear that adolescents often get emotional over little occurances." It was an odd sight to see Lauss trying to comfort someone, though Rhian had no way of knowing that she was getting special treatment.
Lee stepped over to Ellandra's new seat, but didn't dare get comfortable. No time to over step her boundaries. Nor could she give a response to her comments. Of course he was very attractive, but... she could never say that out loud. Especially to his wife. It was comforting to see that she was confident in their relationship, though. A little disheartening to see Lee wasn't any competition, but comforting all the same.
Lee shook her head, jaw dropping a bit. "N-no, really! I'dve loved to have a mom like you. You're really patient and nice. And... understanding. And gentle." She could go on, but that would have just embarrassed the poor woman, provided she wasn't already. Things were pretty backward when Lee was the one giving pep talks.

Rhian flicked her antennae; she still looked rather upset, but Lauss felt pretty sincere. . . "Thank you, Lauss. . . do you know how I could make her happy again?" Because she wanted to fix things, oh so badly. She hated hurting people, and angry was a sort of hurt, wasn't it? She didnt' really know, she just knew it was bad, too, and she wanted everyone to be happy. Was that too much of a goal?
Ellandra gestured to the other seat at the table and smiled again at Lee, though by now her face had gone from pale to flushed with embarrassment at the flattery. "You can sit down if you'd like, Lee, I'm sorry I didn't offer before." She paused for a moment and looked down at the hands she had folded in her lap, before looking up at the teenager again. "You do know that getting crush on a married man isn't uncommon, don't you?" she asked, worried that the teen might be thinking of herself as some kind of strange person for being attracted to someone who was married.
Goodness, this was rather awkward, but. . . . she wanted Lee to stay her friend, as much as she was one. And from what little she could see in the bedrom from here, Lauss and Rhian were getting along rather well. It would be good for both of them to have someone to play with.

Lauss looked upon the other, shaking his head at her question and replying, "Very few things make Miss Lee happy. Perhaps if you could find her a puppy. She enjoys those. Or some well-prepared food. Those are the only things that I have witnessed that make her smile. Well. And Mister Faolan." He'd only paid a small bit of attention to her that day, but he still picked that up. Yes, it was that obvious.
Lee cautiously took a seat, looking to her hands as she folded them in her lap as Ellandra had. "That's fine," she spoke, sounding rather worn. Her eyes darted up at the woman, though, as she spoke. "Wha?" She blinked a few times before speaking again. "B-but, it's just so... shameful." It was, wasn't it? After all, the girls she knew her age were chasing after other boys their age, or at least close to it. As for adult women, they had their own husbands. How could this be common?
Lee couldn't pay attention to Lauss right now. She was more than preoccupied. He must love coming here; always getting to do as he pleased.

Rhian tilted her head. "But Miss Lee can't have Ellandra-husband-Faolan. He's Ellandra's Ellandra-husband!" She didn't realize that she spoke rather loudly - certainly loudly enough to be easily heard from the front room.
Ellandra tilted her head. "That's why most who get them don't talk about getting them, Lee. Because it's embarrassing. But trust me when I say they do get them." She was going to say more, however, Rhian's loud comment from the bedroom caused her to go silent with an embarrassed blush. It was nearly a minute before she spoke again, and when she did, all Ellandra could say was "Rhian has definitely picked up Faolan's habit of blurting things out."

Lauss pondered the though, as the other room seemed to be silent. "I... do not think Miss Lee wants Mister Faolan. Rather... I believe she enjoys looking upon him." She'd seemed a miserable-happy when she was around him before, not just happy like she was when simply gazing upon him. He'd seen that before at the ball. A different mood was about her when at the carnival; more anxious, more self-conscience. Interesting... Lauss had picked up on that? Had he realized that? It was likely Lee hadn't even thought of that. Was he really starting to grow up?
Lee looked at her lap for a moment, then looked up at Ellandra with a small question. "So... you had crushes then?" Hopefully that wasn't prying too much...
The girl's voice was suddenly taken from her at the sound of Rhian's words. Yes. That about summed up this whole day. But she could also hear Lauss. Perhaps Ellandra could, too. And he was right, though Lee hadn't really realized it until now. She didn't want Faolan to keep, just to admire. She had a crush on him, she wasn't in love with him. It was nice to realize this. "That's fine." Was all she could think to say to her. No more hating the butterfly. No reason to anymore.

Rhian nodded, flicking her antennae. "Oh, okay, lots of people like to look at Ellandra-husband. But Ellandra-husband and Ellandra are tied togetherm so taking them apart would hurt badly, maybe even kill. . . . it wuld be very bad."
Ellandra sighed softly. She was tired from the twins, and could feel a headache creeping in. "I had a crush on my music teacher, yes, he was quite a bit older and married, but it happened. It didn't last very long though, one day it just. . . . went away as suddenly as it came." She sighed again and rubbed at her head. Was it too obvious that she wasn't feeling very well?

Lauss tilted his head at the proto above him. "Kill? How would someone die from being separated from another?" Was it magic? That made no sense... Perhaps they had medical problems that both needed the other to help regulate. Hm. Neither of those really seemed to fit. "They are apart now, aren't they?"
Wow. So it was true then? Even so, she doubted Ellandra had anyone, let alone the man himself, tell her how to win him over. It was best she didn't learn about that. It wasn't like she was going to use that information, right? Right?!
Something the matter? Ellandra looked... unhappy. No wonder. Hm. Perhaps she really should go. She was nothing but a burden on this poor woman, who seemed to have enough worries right now without Lee bothering her. "Are you alright? Maybe we should go... I mean, not because of earlier, you just... don't look so great." Please don't take that the wrong way.

Rhian tilted her head, mirroring the other proto's movements. "I don't really understand it either, I think it's... something you have to have happen to you to understand it," she said thoughtfully, finally fluttering down until she was face-to-face with Lauss. "I don't think it means physic- um. . . .apart like in different places. I think it means sometng else. But I don't know what."
Ellandra shook her head. "N-no, no, it's all right. . . I'm just. . . . fighting a headache, that's all. Please don't think you have to go just because of that." She didn't want to run Lee off, not over something as simple as a headache and tiredness.

It felt nice to not be the only one who didn't understand for once. He curled his back half on the floor, still looking upward to Rhian. These people. They made things so difficult to comprehend. He'd read about attraction and the chemistry involved, but in no way attributed this to "love". "Why would they choose to tie themselves together if they knew they could die after severing the tie?" He was asking himself, and Rhian likely didn't hear him, provided she didn't have great hearing. This Faolan character always seemed to bring up "emotions" in others that he just didn't get. "Miss Rhian, do you ever wish to grow up quickly?" Perhaps she would understand this dilemma he's found himself in.
Lee tilted her head. Okay then, she wouldn't leave. Lauss and Rhian were still getting to know each other, after all. But this didn't mean she wasn't still a little worried about Ellandra. "What do you normally do to get rid of headaches?" Lee hardly ever got headaches; only the figurative ones.
