Fefga did nothing, as rhys approached, though normally, considering the location, she wouldn't have allowed it, or for him to have remained there for this long. She kept her head down and shook it, when rhys suggested to steal Rei back. "No, no no.... Fefga can't! ...He has my shota, now... Fefga is powerless. She blew it... I-"
Fefga looked up, and stopped speaking, when she saw that the bishop was reaching out a handkerchief to her. She wasn't quite sure what to do; nobody had really offered her anything before. She just watched them interact with each other, only appearing to select people at select moments. Her eyes grew more watery, touched by the act of kindness from the human, and they sparkled from the flickering light of the torches. Her mouth opened slightly, still surprised at the man's actions.
"Sniff... ...Th-thank.. you..." She said, as she reached out slowly to take the gift. When her hand reach the handkerchief, she gratefully took it, accepting the act of kindness. It was the best gift she had been given in years.
....But her hand went through it.
Fefga paused a moment, just staring as the handkerchief feel to the ground, after it went through her hand. Normally, she was able to grab things, but her power was based upon her happiness, and since she was in a deep sorrow, she was very weakened.
"... ....WAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!" A slight spiritual pressure rose up and pushed the bishop back, as Fefga lost it again. She kept bawling for a while longer, but then slowly started to laugh, realizing the entire irony of what had just happened. She looked up at Rhys and smiled sweetly. "Thank you, Uke-kun~"

Mika.
Mika.
Madriana's sister.
Mika...was...here.
Madriana's sister. Was. Here.
Confusion sparked. Sorrow welled. Fury boiled.
He glared right down the darkness of the corridor, his breath lost. His eyes, indistinguishable in the blackness, were wide and alarmed. His claws tightened on the severed head. Madriana's sister had been here.
And she did harm.
But most importantly, she had been here.
And she hadn't spoken to anybody. Anybody.
He felt his wrath shooting through the mud-like blood in his veins. His heart quickened, his eyes widening in further rage. His wings spanned, his legs spread, his arms locked.
A low growl.
He tore his fangs into the severed head's cheek with a snarl. It wasn't fresh, it wasn't wholesome. It wouldn't whet his needs, his desires. But it was there.
Mika was here. Madriana's sister. Was here. He wanted answers. And they weren't here.
He didn't know what to do. Didn't know...
All the...
Pain...
The...love...un...heeded...
Love...
He hated...
He wanted...
He wanted...
HE WANTED...

Fefga is powerless? Well, I guess all spirits have limits... but, wait... HE? Uh-oh. She can't mean...
Rhys knew full well what Loki was capable of--corruption, monsters, and all-around general destruction and death. If Loki was involved in this... whatever it is, it can't be good. Trouble was brewing, and it wasn't going to be served cold.
Worse... if he had Rei...
Rhys' grip tightened on his Sleep staff. It was the only thing betraying his fear. But he couldn't let that get to him now...
He smiled as Fefga reached out to take the handkerchief. I-I did it! Yay! Maybe I can handle children of my own...
What? He WAS engaged. Everyone knew the song from their younger years: "First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes..."
Fill in the blank!
And then he was pushed back, sliding several feet and a bump and an "OW!" announced Rhys' head's arrival into a wall. He lay there dazed, blinking and rubbing the back of his head until she stopped.
"Y-you're welcome, Fefga," Rhys said, grinning as he rubbed the sore spot. He wasn't sure what an "Uke-kun" was... maybe Renault would know? He'd been around the world longer than anyone else, after all.
He shakily rose to his feet.
"I should tell the others what happened... is there anything else I should tell the others?" he asked, looking at Fefga.

"Fefga is probably in trouble for saying this much as it is, Uke-kun... Fefga isn't supposed to help... or else." She twiddled her finger, in a pouting way, but then looked up, with a small gasp. "But since you already-"
Now that she was happy again, her powers were working the right way again. Meaning.. that she could sense the other person in her chambers. She paused a moment, both recognizing and not recognizing who it was.
"...Head Researcher? Is that you?!"

"...Head Researcher!? Is that you!?"
A sharp intake of breath, a tightening on the severed head –
"I'm the only one doing this... I can do it. Alone. No one else..."
"Ghhuaahh – b...buu... Wasn't...supposed...to...!"
"Madriana, I'm so sorry... I'm s-so..."
"You damn Door!! Everything I've tried, everything I've done, and I can't even scratch you!! I've wasted the past months of my life trying to figure you out!! I hope you can hear me! Whoever's behind that Door, holding Madriana in chains!!
By my blood,
I WILL BREAK YOU!"
STOOOOOP!
The memories, the memories! Make them stop, make them leave, make them die, how do you stop them from coming!? They hurt, they hurt...
The severed head fell to the floor. He hugged himself, shrinking down, his wings folding around him as a mixture of whimpers, pants, and growls pulsed from him breath. Blackness overcame his vision, the herald to his black mud-like tears seeping from his eyes.
"N-no," answered a throaty voice too deep to be Soren's, "Not me, not any more, never was, never will be." He spoke in frantic tones, the viscous tears falling. "Never again, forsaken by myself, branded by the goddess – branded, branded!"
He swept up the severed head and rushed into the chamber. The Soren-shaped figure flared his wings and stood high. His mind was in discord, the hallucinations returning to taunt him. His rage, his despair, his lust all warped his state of being. His whole form seemed unstable, quivering in the threads of reality, as if the colors refused to stay in the lines...
"None of you should know I'm here," he snarled, eyes wide, thorny dragon-like wings barricading the corridor. "Not you, spirit, and especially not you, Rhys."
And his deep, throaty voice was suddenly calm, yet the withered severed head with claws stuck in its barely-bleeding cheeks said otherwise...

At the words "Head Researcher", Rhys had turned around and fought the urge to pull out Lightning and strike the... man? ...on the spot. The severed head, the insane behavior? Only the fact that Fefga seemed to know his identity restrained Rhys from attacking. As it was, his staff was already back in his right hand, the Lightning tome open in his left, his eyes fixed in a wary glare.
Wait... the person (for lack of a better term) knew his name? Those red eyes... and that long, greasy black hair! And BRANDED? No way. No. Way. This--this messed-up creature before him... was SOREN!? What on Learania had he done to himself?
He kept silent. This was Fefga's domain, after all. But he wouldn't let go of either weapon.

After hearing the man and watching hi actions, Fefga just blinked. She had witnessed a large amount of human behavior that she considered peculiar, but this was by far the strangest she had ever seen, and frankly, wasn't really sure what was going on. All she knew was that she knew this man as The Door's head researcher... once. Something not widely known about her, was that she could also peer into people's thoughts. Doing this with the newcomer only complicated things. Fefga tilted her head, in confusion.
"...Soarin'-kun, you know better than to eat heads for lunch, you'll get a belly ache. Hee hee!"
Fefga released her knees, and floated up a little. She then placed her arms behind her back, and held her hands together.
"Or... Should I say... ...Ne...ros..?"
The spirit smiled sweetly at him, and giggled softly.

What Fefga might have glimpsed in the back of his mind, through the discordant cacophony of formless chaos that ruled his transient mind, was a thought of "Mother Ashera" and "Brother", being accompanied by images of a hooded woman and Soren in his winter robes.
It was as though Fefga's influence literally rippled through him. His form seemed to shiver from the head to the tips of his draconic wings, the colors and outline fraying for just a moment before settling into a calmer state. His expression relaxed, his posture lightened. Where once loomed an abomination strangled by conflicting thoughts and emotions now stood the shadow of the mansion's Head Researcher.
He blinked a few times as his reason slowly clicked back into focus. His primal rage and sorrow, rather than be chained down screaming and shrieking, seemed to be lulled into a drowsy state. The light of the chamber's torches revealed his characteristics more now that his state of mind wasn't distorting his existence. Neros stood in Soren's old robes, the pathetically tattered garments that had worsened ever since October, the pupils of his eyes retracted into jagged slits in the light. Something was a little different around the brand on his forehead as well.
As his grip on the severed head weakened, the streams of blood slowed.
"...How do you know that name?" he inquired, his voice almost as soft as velvet now, though it still retained a raspy texture. "Only two people in this world should know of it, besides me."
He focused his slitted eyes on Rhys, the shadows beneath them evident against his wan face. He'd obviously been neglecting himself, for the strands of hair that scattered over his face like a veil were split and ragged.

"...I thought I sensed something strange in the attic. Now I see.. it was him." Fefga frowned. "I missed you, you know... you were always here, too, until you vanished." She smiled sweetly again, and the glimmer in her eyes were being amplified by the flickering torches.
"Your thoughts are... very jumbled. I can hear a lot going on in there. Normal humans can't handle that much in their heads." Fefga waved her arm through the air sharply, and the hair in the man's face was pushed back. "If yous wanted somethin' properlity to eat, ya didn't have to go all cooky-coo! Hee hee hee!" Fefga giggled and spun in the air once, then looked back at the man with her large, joyful eyes.

He blinked rapidly as his bangs parted. The sudden clarity of the room and intensification of the light startled him, especially as he'd developed a particular sensitivity to light. His wings sagged behind him, almost as though he could not bear to support them any longer. Neros glanced down at the severed head and rolled it in his hands.
"I'm sorry," he replied, trying to remember why he was gone in the first place.
A galdr reverberating off the surface of winter, thrumming in the souls of children, calling to a rain of stars through a lullaby.
"...They don't need me."
He gazed through the head's lifeless eyes. "To be honest, spirit, I'm not entirely human any more. If I was in the first place, that is." He glanced up and between the two others in the chamber. Neros tensed again upon glimpsing Rhys, arguing whether or not Rhys should know of his existence. "...I discovered I could access a whole new world by consuming things, and through that absorbing quintessence..."
His eyes strayed to the surrounding chamber. Suddenly he felt small, and his posture reflected this. Suddenly he resembled a child more than anything.
"What do you mean my name's not Soren anymore!?"
"I told you already. You are the inverse embodiment of my nature, my negative ego. You are the body of my sins. You are no longer Soren."
Frustration. Sadness.
He curled his wings around him, hugging the severed head now, recalling all the vicious things he'd done after that. Ruthless, inhumane things. He was suddenly upset that he was here at all, upset that he even existed, upset that he did these things and upset that he was even upset, but he couldn't do anything about it.

Meanwhile, Rhys had an inner argument of his own.
This was Soren, all right. But... if he had this right... that severed head... was Soren transforming himself or something by absorbing human quintessence? Human LIVES? THAT... was unforgivable. Plus, even if Soren could kill, it was doubtful he'd be able to best the Bishop in open combat here.
Yes, Soren's childhood had been terrible. Rhys knew that much. With Ike around, however, Soren had remained human. Here... he truly was the monster people always thought he was. Worse, he'd abandoned the one group of people who might have thought otherwise. Worse still, he'd been living under their very noses this entire time!
...But he put the Lightning tome away, opting instead for just the staff. Fefga appeared to have this under control. No need for bloodshed... not yet, at least.
Still... he had some choice words for "Neros" for future reference.
But first...
He turned his head to Fefga, keeping Soren at the edge of his vision. "Shall I be going, then? I have... non-Soren-related matters to discuss, and you two should have a private conversation anyway."

Neros tensed again. He thought he'd sensed something from Rhys, something unpleasant that put him immediately on the edge. Neros was...touchy. He was aware of this, but he had no way of keeping it under control. In his eyes, it was what kept him safe from every dagger clasped behind every back, every hunter's trap strewn right around him, every assassin around every corner.
He started to chew on the severed head's scalp. Never mind that he'd get a stomach ache from it according to the spirit. The scalp was probably particularly disgusting, but he'd developed a taste for the disgusting... The vile, the abhorrent... Thoughts of it brought a small grin to his soft lips, showing the fangs beneath them.
"You make me sound so self-centered, Rhys," he remarked coolly, lapping at the blood that was leaking from the head. "Yes, I'm not here to discuss myself. I'd much rather talk about...Mika."
Deep beneath the surface, the calm and cunning expression, was boiling rage contained inside iron restraint. Rhys didn't trust him, oh no, Rhys didn't even like him, Rhys never liked him, and somehow Rhys got better ever since coming to Learania, got stronger, got smarter, he even got a lover that was always around... Now, now that wasn't fair. Or was it? Did he, Neros, really deserve the worst of the worst?
No, no, no, Neros. No more thinking. The spirit can hear you... Tut, tut, tut!
He stretched his jaws wide and tore a large layer of skin from the cheek, chewing on that.

Outside of the mansion, Mika walked up to the door. She decided she had to make her move now. She'd need the heroes, and she'd need a base. Well FEFGA's would make a nice base. But first, the heroes. How was she going to find them. Am I going to have to go after them, she wondered. Hearing talking from inside, she moved around the side of the mansion. She didn't want to be found first. If caught off guard, they might have a chance against her, she thought. How badly she wished she wasn't alone. She shut her eyes. Loki said that she just had to want them... She did... She wanted Loki's friends to come to her.

•I bear the seed of ruin… •A golden age turned to stone… вєαѕтмιѕтяєѕѕ єѴєℓYη Sometimes I wonder why they need me at all! … For this, a tragic journey• … A vision of a dying embrace• It had been a long time since Evelyn and Triumph had been together, but being together once again… well, it wasn’t awkward at all between them. Just like old times Evelyn came riding up to FEFGA’s house on the back of Triumph. The wind lightly whipped her hair behind her back and she had to squint to avoid having dust blown into her eyes. She kept low on the Gwyllgi mostly for warmth, but to also avoid causing further resistance as Triumph ran.
Triumph was by no means slow when he ran; heck he might even argue he is the fastest creature to ever roam Learania. If someone was lucky enough to even get a glimpse as the monster ran, it would appear as little less than a blur of color. Thus, it came to Evelyn as no surprise when she arrived next to Mika’s side first. ”You called?

Mika turned to look at Evelyn as she approached on the back of what Mika considered to be a monster. She had not yet met any of Loki's "friends", but she knew, somehow, that this was one of them. She smiled somewhat nervously.
"Um... Hello. My name is Mika... I'm an archdruid, I guess." Mika said. She knew also that there were supposed to be 8 others. "There are nine of you, right? Where are the others?"
It was at that point that she remembered something. She had seen them before. She was just too stunned and distracted when she first saw them. It was when Loki first brought them to life, after he had killed Synra.
