"Then shouldn't be hard to see," Jordan complained. "Is rude!"
"You just blind!" Carmel told her as she slowed down then plopped down on her bottom. "He here, I sees him, if you no see you the rude one!"
Jordan glared at her for that. Carmel glared right back. It was obvious by this point that there was no great love between the two girls.

"My daddies couldn't see Touda at first." She nodded sagely, as if imparting great wisdom. "Touda is a mononoke. You gotta be able to see spirits or he's invisible." She'd gotten a lot of practice saying that particularly sticky word and was proud of how good she was at it. "But he's there." She nodded, and then made a bounce big enough to jiggle everyone.
"I'm a ghost." Touda added to Carmel, as if it was some big secret. His being a ghost of sorts was the running assumption.

"He's a ghost," Carmel repeated for Jordan.
"Oh," Jordan said. She had heard about ghosts. They were invisible people that made strange noises and made deliveries go weird. She accepted that explanation more easily than she accepted being called rude. "Okay." Then she started bouncing so she landed on her back, then on her feet, then on her back again.
Carmel was almost irritated that the argument ended that easily.

Touda wouldn't have minded seeing the girls fight. In fact, he mused, he probably would have enjoyed it quite a bit. Then again, the bouncing was fun too. "How come you dont like her?" He asked Carmel, half hoping to start the fight back up and half curious as to the real answer.
Anise tried the bouncing from her back and back to her feet, managing to get the hang of it the third time around. "I have Tok, too!" She added, waving the marginally creepy looking stuffed animal at Jordan and Carmel.

"I has a Mortar," Jordan bragged. Of course a Mortar was a gigantic rock troll that babysat her in the evenings, but he was hers, and that was the important part!
"Cuz she a stinky shorty who boogered Miss Bunny!" Carmel said, still bouncing. "And she wouldn't share her daddy or her chocolate, even though I gotta share MY daddy and he was just carryin' me, anyway. An' she always trains trains trains or booger booger booger." She was glowering at the dwarf by this time as she started remembering all the things she had against Jordi.
Jordi gave her a shamelessly evil grin. Getting under Carmel's skin was rapidly becoming one of her favorite pastimes.

Leaping from Carmel's shoulder, Touda pranced over to Jordi and bounced up onto her head. Of course, since the dwarf couldn't see him, she also couldn't see that he was doing a little pirouetting dance on her head. "Lalala... " He sang.
"Tok can talk." This was a debateable truth, as Anise was the only one who ever seemed to hear the stuffed animal. But she had to match the coolness of Mortar, whatever a Mortar was. Studiously, she ignored Touda.

Carmel started giggling, pointing at Jordan's head.
"Whaaa?" Jordan demanded, patting her head. "What you laughing at? An' Mortar can talk, too!" she added for Anise's benefit. "He a Troll." She pronounced that with a heavy emphasis on each letter. It was an important thing to be, according to Mortar.
"He dancing on your head!" Carmel exclaimed, dying.

"TOUUDAAA!" Anise wailed, stomping her foot on the castle floor. Sadly, with the floor being bouncy, the resulting jiggle plopped Anise flat on her butt. She was busy trying to make new friends. Stupid Touda had to be stupid like he always was. Nevermind that the two of them were thick as thieves, he was still annoying.
Touda stuck his tongue out and bounced around, doing a decent approximation of an Irish jig. "Good head for dancing. See, I can dance too!"
"Oooh..." Anise crossed her arms in a huff.

Jordan had to think about whether she was mad or not by this. Had it been Carmel, no doubt she would have been mad as hell, but this was Jordi. She had nightly singing and dancing parties at her house with the crew of their ship. "Is he singing, too?" Jordan asked finally.
"Uh huh!" Carmel said happily. "Some!"
"Well that good," Jordan said before she started bouncing again. "Should always sing when dancing!"

Encouraged, Touda shuffled through the limited song selection he was aware of before finally deciding on a roaring rendition of 'Good Ship Lollipop'. Though the dancing was hard once Carmel resumed her dancing.
Anise was not pleased. How did Touda always manage to do that even though barely anybody could see him. She sighed again before realizing that she could either keep pouting or vow to take her revenge later and join back in the fun now. "He's singing 'lollipop." She informed Jordi.

"Dunno that one," Jordi admitted. "But we sing lots on ship! Lots and lots! They all loud and silly songs about ladies and pales." Whatever pales were. "Or is it sails?" she asked, frowning slightly. "Unno, but is lotsa singing!"
"My brother have bestest voice in the world," Carmel bragged, drawn into the conversation with the girls now that she had gotten used to Touda's singing. "He has two voices!"

Anise hummed a few bars of Good Ship Lollipop under her breath. "Two voices?" She asked dubiously, "How can someone have two voices?" The thought baffled her somewhat.
"Make the dinky one teach us a song!" Touda interrupted. Not that Jordi was necessarily any dinkier than the other two girls, but there was something about her that screamed 'physically small' despite the fact that she had a personality big enough to fill the entire bouncy castle.
"Yeah!" Anise agreed, changing tack again. "Touda says you should teach us a song."

Abruptly Axle opened the screen door. "Time to go!" he said cheerfully, having heard the song question and decided that it wasn't a good idea. He held out his arms for his little girl and the tiny dwarf bounced her way over happily. "Say goodbye to your new friend," he added.
"I teach song next time!" Jordi told Anise as Carmel reluctantly headed for the door as well. "Bye bye!"
"Bye Touda, Anise," Carmel said as her father appeared to take her as well.

The mononoke looked slightly crestfallen as the two girls left. He'd wanted to learn the song! "Bye!" He said to them both, though only Carmel could hear him.
"Bye!" Anise said more cheerily. She liked meeting girls her own age, it helped her feel secure and normal, despite the fact that Carmel and Jordi had fought the whole time. "C'mon, Touda." She said finally. "Lets ride the ponies." And the two scrambled out of the castle as well, looking around for their guardian.
