The field? Istas looked out over it. Maybe something bad happened to her here. She shrugged some. "Well if you want, we can go around. there is a path. It would just take us a little longer." Istas wasn't in much of a rush but, if they didn't decide soon, they could get caught in the field at night fall, which could be a problem.
"We want to get to the other side before night fall if we go through." She looked over at Teppy. She trotted a few steps forward, wanting to cut across. "There's no one out there, so we'll be fine."

"No that's okay, we can keep going this way," Teppy tried to assure her with a half-hearted smile. Of course the seasonal mare would prefer going around, but it wasn't getting any earlier and it would probably be best to move on. She let Istas lead the way, following close.
The empty air... she already felt like she was going to float away! Temperance forced herself to concentrate on something else. Like the grass under her hooves. Grass was safe, right? She stared at it, glancing up now an then just enough to see where Istas was going and not the sky.

"You know," Istas started as she looked up at hte sky. "I really have to say I like fields. The open space lets you breath, rather then feeling cluttered all the time. But it can feel kind of empty too." She nodded some, before she lead Teppy through the middle of the field and moments later they would reach the other side. "That was faster then I expected. We can cover a little more ground before it gets to dark."
(You can do a little time flash, something like a day or so later, they reach the base of the mountain (To keep this from getting TO long ))

"Uh-huh," Teppy tried to agree, or at least acknowledge she was listening. The whole short time it took for them to cross she was so tense it took conscious thought for her to keep going forward. Once they reached the far side she immediately relaxed, a little bit proud of herself for not panicking like she usually did.
---
Some time later they reached the base of the mountain and Temperance finally got to discover that yes, mountains were very, very big. She looked around in awe like a foal seeing something new for the first time. Then she laughed, shaking her head at herself. "They're huge! Are we going to climb it? It doesn't look very safe."

"Well i guess thats up to you. It like everything has it's dangers. I've only done a little climbing myself." She was a bit indifferent about if they went up or not. Teppy would be the one that she would have to keep her eyes on. So she was leaving the choice up to her. It was starting to get a bit dark already. Maybe it wouldn't be a good idea. they've travels all day already.

They had gotten this far. Couldn't hurt to keep going, right? Teppy moved forward, studying the footing ahead. If they hurried maybe they could find a safe place to stay before it got dark, like a cave or something. She looked back with a smile. "Well, c'mon! I want to see what's ahead." Then she started to climb. The footing was different from the roots and stuff in the forest, so she found herself being much more careful than usual.

She hadn't expected Teppy to wantto keep going so she was excited to follow after her. She worked her way up the incline. Since she herself had never really been up here. She didn't no where a good sage place to spend the night would be, so the first place they found would have to do. And hopefullyiy wouldn't be to far up the incline...
After they climbed for a little while, and the sun was starting to sink, Istas saw the first plateau. She was releived to see it. "Oh hey look at that. there's spme flat ground we can take a break on."

Up, up and up the mountain seemed to go! Teppy squinted, trying to see the peak. There was no way they'd reach the top before nightfall so Teppy kept an eye out. The sun was beginning to set already when Istas pointed out the flatter ground that would make a good place to rest.
"Good idea," Teppy nodded quickly and made her way over there. It felt good to stand on some ground that wasn't rough. Her muscles felt tired from the incline. She let out a happy sigh, stretching a little, when the sunset caught her eye again. "Oh wow, look at the view!" Though they were only so far up the mountain, she could see an incredible distance. She never have gotten to see such a sight if she had stayed down in the forest.
She found a place away from any dangerous ledges and lay down, gazing at the scenery as she rested.

Istas hadn't really noticed the scenery. Not that she was concentrating on anything else in particular. She looked up when Teppy made her comment. "Oh wow you're right. I never would have noticed..." She smiled some and looked out. The colors of the sun made her think of Claude. She kind of wished he could have come with them, but he was always so busy. She was glad that she made the journey, especially with Teppy. One of her oldest friends really.
She walked over to where Teppy was laying and she stood. "hopefully the weather will be good again tomorrow." She smiled. She stood there for a while until the sun set, and she walked a little away and was getting herself settled for the night.

"Yeah, I hope so too..." Teppy answered sleepily, having watched the sun go down too and now feeling the weight of sleep on her eyes. It was taking all her effort to keep her head up. "Lots of things here I would never have seen staying in the forest..." Her voice trailed off into a yawn. She set her head down and was fast asleep instantly.

The night went back without any problems. Istas stretched out and she walked around in a circle. Before she walked over and nudges at Teppy. "Hey, the suns coming up. We should get an early move on." She smiled a little. They would have to go up a little further to find food. But they could probably make it to the top today. She was glad about that. She didn;t much like the actual inclines.

Temperance's ears flicked towards Istas' voice, then she raised her head with a short yawn. She had slept very deeply, worn out from all the exercise they were getting. "Almost forget where we were," she said groggily, standing up slowly.
But it didn't take her long to return to her usual, alert self. She was energized and ready to go, excited to reach the top of the mountain. And finding something to eat would be nice, too.
"Do you know what it's like at the top? I heard that sometimes there's snow, even in the summer. Hard to believe, isn't it? I would think it would be too warm," Teppy babbled a little, unable to contain herself. She was starting to get used to walking on the terrain, allowing her to concentrate on other things more.

Istas smiled some at her, and she started to lead the way. "Ah I haven't ever made it to the top before. So it'll be a first for me as well." Istas looked back at her as they climbed up. "Snow, really?" She never really thought of it. Nor did she understand why there would be snow.
"Oh, it looks like there some food up ahead." She wiggled slightly as she worked her way up. "You as hungry as I am?" She laughed, asking Teppy.

"Yes, a traveler once told me that the tops of mountains are too chilly and high up for the snow to melt. But wouldn't they be closer to the sun that way?" Teppy asked herself, then laughed. "Yeah, I'm starving! That can wait until we've eaten something..."
Continuing upwards to where Istas had pointed out food, her eyes lit up at the sight of a few small bushes and a bit of grass brave enough to cling to the rocks with their roots. She trotted up to them happily, then nibbled at one of the bushes. The leaves were plentiful and sweet, but it looked like something had been there before.
"Hey, this bush is missing leaves..." She pointed out. Did something live up there? if there was, at least it was a herbivore like them.

Istas looked around. "Thats a very good possibility. Not only that, the ones that do live around here will have a tougher time looking for food... So they might have stopped here." She shrugged a little before she joined Teppy in eating. Her stomach was happy at this.
After they had eaten, Istas nudges Teppy to start the climb again, and most of the day would go by idly. They would take breaks on any flats they could find. And around sunset they would the spot nearest to the peak.
"Just in time!" She panted a little. Whew that was a lot of climbing.
