He had not been expecting such a question and blinks, head cocking slightly even as he recoils a bit from the finger pointed at him.

His greatest fear...?

Privately, he already knows this is not something he will reveal. Things such as that are only for him to know....and perhaps one other person who is the only one who he has ever let near enough to him to see and understand the faults in his armor up close.

Such things.....are hard for him to put into thoughts, he ventures at last. sweatdrop But he thanks Master Shuuka for his wisdom on the matter and for his willingness to help...

Shuuka smiles slightly at Hitsuga before shaking his head slowly. No, it's fine--such things are very hard to express, aren't they? Shuuka would venture they are most hard to express with strangers.

Shuuka, however, does not wish to be a stranger. He pauses, a hand settling on his chin as he appraises the perfumer--there is something about the Master, something that Shuuka wants to...

... protect? Shuuka laughs slightly before a grin forms on his face, his hand patting the perfumer's shoulder delicately.

"I will come to know you," states Shuuka simply with complete confidence, "Then we shall face your fear."

They are, indeed, hard to express, he agrees. It is hard to face something that does not....well.....have a particular face to it.

But Shuuka's last statement, at least, is met with a smile backed by some warmth. It would be Hitsuga's honor to get to know Master Shuuka.

And he will, then, in the face of forming a new friendship, take all the more care with Master's request to make it as he feels it will suit Jilan.

Shuuka scratches at his nose slightly before snorting and glancing away. Shuuka totally wasn't trying to gain Hitsuga's friendship for that--Shuuka just likes Hitsuga.

Hitsuga knows those kind of Porcelain, right? Those who instantly catch your attention, who leave an impression on you, and you can't help but be drawn to them? Shuuka nods slightly, his arms folding as he looks up to Hitsuga as if to confirm that Hitsuga is such a person.

Like Shuuka said, Hitsuga is destined for greatness, and he will assure that the perfumer gets his due. Shuuka smiles slightly before shrugging. Maybe Shuuka is so attached because he knows that, one day, Hitsuga might need such help?

After all, the pair most work to overcome the worries that flit around Hitsuga like so many angry gnats.

Shuuka proceeds to make a firm swatting motion.

His eyes widen a bit

No, no no, he knows...he knows! He---he did not mean to imply anything... sweatdrop Frantic apologies issue from him to Shuuka like the wings of deliriously-colorful neurotic butterflies.

But...but yes, he knows of what Shuuka speaks. He has met several such people since arriving here, which....is odd for him since it was such a rarity back home. The intensifying of the color in his cheeks suggests embarrassment or flattery to be considered such a person.

At the swatting of invisible worries, he allows a small chuff of laughter to escape. Yes....he supposes they do. He hopes Master Shuuka will forgive him if the road ends up bumpier than it ought to be...

Shuuka shakes his head before he hops onto a sturdy piece of cabinet, his legs swinging in the air briefly before he settles.

If Shuuka cared for easy, then he would not have made it to Gaia. No, Shuuka finds easy to be boring and knows that anything wonderful is also difficult in some form or fashion. Shuuka leans back, his hand grasping one of the perfumer's many concoctions before he studies it.

"... Have you ever loved someone and knew that it was going to hurt?" asks Shuuka suddenly, his fingers tracing and stroking along the contours of the glass.

Shuuka... has found such a person, someone so very great, and can't understand why dread sometimes fills his stomach about the future with that person. Shuuka can't stop himself, though--he continues to flit after the person much like a pitiful moth to a brilliant, beautiful flame.

It will be difficult, but it will be beautiful as well.

Hitsuga's hands briefly go out before him, in an unspoken gesture of please don't do that even as Shuuka makes himself comfortable on the cabinet unharmed. At length, he folds his fingers back over one another and lets his hands draw back to himself.

Listening as the youth goes on, his brow knits a bit.

Hitsuga is afraid he is not one, at all, to talk of love. Though....he believes that those who can find such a thing and follow it fearlessly, even knowing it may mean pain for them and facing their dread, have his respects.

It is much more, after all, than some are capable of...

... Is that why Hitsuga seems so nervous and sad? Shuuka's attention has perked, drawing away from the melancholy of his own world and delving into Hitsuga's. Shuuka, whether perceptive or blind, proceeds to send a comforting feeling Hitsuga's way before sighing.

Well, it looks like they both have difficulties with love, don't they? Perhaps their circumstances are different, their individual ideas about the emotion foreign to the other, but they are men in love and thus share a bond. And like men, they must pursue their love, no matter the circumstances, no matter the difficulties.

Could not a man display emotions as Hitsuga did? Shuuken has never seen a woman equal the vivid scenes created by the perfumer, for they always are too concerned with propriety and concealment of emotions for better or worse. Hitsuga, beautifully, displays his emotions for all to see, however, letting them roll in his breast and splash onto all around him.

It is a very brave thing, Shuuka thinks, and shows that he has the strength to pursue his lady.

Hitsuga is....afraid it is a bit more complicated than a case of maiden's nerves on his part sweatdrop And a long story, as well. One that does not even end in him knowing what it is that he feels anymore.

But! He quickly goes on, trying to divert the conversation away from himself. If he can, in any way, ease Master Shuuka's problems, he needs only to let him know.

This one may not have his own heart and head sorted, but, he is happy to help all the same to those who think he has advice or craft of some use.
PostPosted: Sun Jun 07, 2009 5:29 pm

Shuuka must wonder if Master Hitsuga's title of "The Perfumer" is appropriate when he seems nearly as skilled at diverting conversations. The youth laughs before moving a fist to affectionately punch into Hitsuga's arm.

Should Master Hitsuga ever need Shuuka, he is also there. Shuuka asks that the Master never forgets about his bravery, however, Shuuka has a feeling that his ally is one to forget his merits at times.

Shuuka raises an eyebrow suddenly, his fist rising slightly, threateningly. Don't make Shuuka beat the self-doubt out of Master Hitsuga!

... The Porcelain then breaks into laughter, his hands folding behind his head.

For one red moment, the world stands still, dark blue eyes locked on the fist that has raised itself, as if he truly believes that it may crash down on his person.

....and then there is laughter. Laughter which, as it progresess, he tentatively returns, trying at the same time to chase away the bright tendrils of horror that had flared in his mind.

He can only promise Master Shuuka that he will do his best.

Behind the wall of his mind, he privately notes that, indeed, to do anything less around this young master might, in fact, be dangerous... eek

Shuuka looks firmly at Hitsuga, his features quickly taking on solemnity as he nods slowly. Shuuka knows Master Hitsuga will--he expected nothing less when they first began talking about conquering fear and self-doubt.

As they speak, Shuuka casually begins opening bottles, taking light, happy whiffs from the containers before setting them aside. How many people has Master Hitsuga captured over the years? With these scents that lie in his shop, Shuuken can smell poets and warriors, peacemakers and troublestarters.

What a powerful craft Master Hitsuga has in capturing the essences of others without harming them! A happy laugh escapes Shuuka's lips, the youth most relaxed in his superior's shop.

This, at least, is a subject he's more receptive to discussing and he visibly relaxes.

It is a craft that the years he has studied and practiced it, have taught him to love dearly, he says, watching as Shuuka samples various scents from the nearby bottles. Ideas he cannot put into words, memories he wishes to relive, visions he would like to realize, people he does not want to forget....

It is amazing, really, the sorts of things a scent can provoke. The soothing it can provide.

And that is, in fact, another reason he loves his work. It allows him to help realize the visions and memories of other minds -- it is, he imagines, like an artist allowing someone else to guide his hand as he paints and seeing a new picture, not his own and yet realized in his own work, unspool beneath his fingers.

.....erm, Master must forgive this one, he rambles a bit when it comes to his job and does not, always, make sense... sweatdrop

Rather than threatening Hitsuga for his burst of humility, Shuuka rubs his chin thoughtfully before nodding. Shuuka thinks that Master Hitsuga might be greater than even the master painters that proliferate their Empire. While those artists are able to capture the physical realities of Porcelain...

... Well, Master Hitsuga is able to capture the soul. Each scent may have limited meaning to an outsider, but to the one who commissions the perfumer, the scent has supreme meaning.

Shuuken pauses before eying Hitsuga slyly--now Shuuka is rethinking giving the perfume as a gift but rather keeping it himself. To be able to reimagine, to feel, to see a loved one with one whiff of Master Hitsuga's concoction...

Well, it is a tempting thing.

Perhaps a proper bottle for Master Shuuka's Jilan and a smaller vial for Shuuka to keep for himself?

It is no trouble really... 3nodding
