Lauss nodded as he was guided along. He watched as the tarot cards fell to the ground, and each time he glided down to examine and pick them up. He'd need some later, anyway, as these were the tools required for the job. Such pretty cards...
Whaaaaa--?! Lee had to control herself. Squealing wouldn't be the best idea, and she had to hide the giddy/nervous/terrified feeling bubbling inside of her. She almost forgot to breath for the first few steps they took, focused too much on not making any mistakes when he was this close. Having a crush was the worst feeling ever, it seemed. "Th-that'd be great," she stuttered, looking at her feet as she walked. "This place is... really big." She'd surely get lost on her way out; well, as long as Lauss was there, she'd probably have no problems. But still. It didn't help that there was excitement in every direction. Easy to lose one's way around here. I wonder if I know anyo-- Lee was interrupted as she stumbled over an empty cup someone had left on the ground. No falling flat on her face or anything like that, but Fao had surely noticed. Lee's eye twitched as her face went red. Pretend it didn't happen, and no one will notice. Lee wasn't a klutz, but... letting her mind wander mixed with a dreading and exciting feeling in her stomach wasn't turning out to be a good combination.

Zia noticed Lauss picking up the cards and chuckled. "Come now, hinny. No need for that. I have plenty of decks from my cards at home. You can have one of them."
Faolan shrugged a bit. "Aye, it's big alreet, but not so much when you're used to it," he said, accent shining through a bit more. When he felt her stumble, his arm moved from her shoulders to her waist, steadying her against him. "Easy tha', lass. No needs to fall and get all hacky now." He was mostly quiet as they walked the rest of the way, occasionally greeting a fellow carnival resident they passed, his arm remaining around the girl's waist to be sure she didn't fall over anything else.
Upon reaching the vardo, he looked down at her. "Behave yourself, bonny lass, and wait here on the steps. I'll be out in a moment." He stepped up and disappeared inside the large wagon.

"That would be wonderful." Lauss nodded and hurried to the other essentic's side. He kept the cards he still had in his hand, thinking Lee might enjoy them. Ziazan was hard to understand; a lot like Faolan. But for the most part Lauss was getting along fine. The proto just listened to the words he knew and built the sentence around it. Lauss thought to himself a moment. This "sibling" of his was an alter, right? "Ziazan, do you know about life?" He thought he'd take his chances and try to see if they had anything to say about his current predicament.
Lee couldn't help but throw her hand to her face. This was so embarrassing, yet it made her indescribably happy. Ahh! He's married. And like... ten years older. She knew he didn't mean anything they way she was seeing it, but... really now, he was such a tease.
"O-okay..." As Faolan ventured into his vardo, Lee fell to her knees, completely exhausted with attempting to keep her cool without having a heart attack. How much more of this am I going to have to take? And why does he keep calling me 'bonny lass'? Does that mean boney? He's saying I look skinny? Too skinny? What if I look gross or something? It never occured to her that Fao was changing only a few feet from her, probably completely naked. She was a little young, though, to think about something like that. It'd scare her more than anything.

"In what way should I know about it?" Zia asked, looking at the proto, rainbow eyes sparkling with mirth.
After a moment, Fao stepped back down, coming to stop before where Lee was on the ground, clad only in well-worn jeans and opting to remain barefoot and bare-chested. He knelt down to look at her, tilting his head a bit. "You alright, lass? Bonny'un such as you shouldnae be down on the ground, gettin' all clarty. Hop up, eh, lassie?" He stood and held a hand down for her, silhouetted against the lights behind him.

"Let's see..." That was a very good question. He was hoping Ziazan might just offer a tidbit of information, whatever came to mind. But Lauss wasn't exactly sure what he needed to know. He continued to follow closely behind the other as he spoke. "I suppose... love is involved. I don't know about the important things in life. And I need to." This was really bothering him, wasn't it? Perhaps his sibling might know what he meant, and perhaps not. He wouldn't press it any further if it was the latter.
She straightened her back at Fao's voice. "I-I'm fine." Lee looked over at him and noticed that he hadn't really changed into anything less revealing. "Um..." Okay. So, at the risk of sounding like an idiot, she couldn't help but ask. "What does 'bonny' mean?" She accidentally said the word in question in Fao's accent, but didn't seem to notice. The girl took his hand, again shaking slightly at the gesture, and pulled herself to her feet. His height was starting to intimidate her, especially with the bright lights behind him.

"Love? That's a bit hard to explain, I think. I'm not sure I know much about it, either, other than it being a strong sense of feeling for another person," Zia said, shrugging one shoulder. True that it felt love for Crux, but it wasn't sure it wanted to really talk about that with an Essentic it barely knew. "You should see Faolan and Ellandra together sometime. They're a pretty good example of love."
Faolan twitched an ear, an amused smile tugging at his lips. "It's means 'pretty', lass. Ain't anyone ever tell you that you were before?" He was also amused that even when standing, the girl barely came up to his chest. She was much like Elle in that respect, that and her shyness. He figured the similarities to his wife were what was making him so comfortable around her.
Shrugging a bit, he looked off towards the carnival. "Did you wanna see it, lass? Or did you wanna come in for a bit?" He looked back at her, golden eyes looking feral in the dim lighting of the residential area of Farstep.

So he was able to get some information after all. Lauss nodded quickly to the other. He would definitely have to do that. The only married couple he'd seen before -- that he knew was married -- was Lee's parents. And they were likely the worst example of love in Drente.
Wha? Lee choked on air when hearing his words. He thinks... I'm pretty? Her eyes went wide as it slowly registered. "I'm pretty?" She asked aloud, less to Fao than to herself. Her mouth fell open slightly as she took it in, finally smiling to herself. "They might have... I dunno." Her voice was softer than it normally was. She couldn't remember if anyone had told her such a thing to her face, but she wasn't going to say no. If they had, it had never had such a big impact on her.
Lee looked around at the thought. She probably wouldn't be able to appreciate the carnival right now. Too busy being blissful. A tarot card? Her eye was caught by the feathers and cards floating down from Ziazan, and she turned back to to the man lumbering over her. "Y-you do fortune telling, right?" She hoped he might offer to tell her her own. She was suddenly very interested to hear the future of her love life.

"Aye, lass, you're pretty enough," Faolan said in his usual purr, reaching out to ruffle her hair affectionately. "And if no one's told you it, then they should and often."
He tilted his head at her next question. "I do fortunes, aye. I take it you want the cards read for you, eh, ma bonny lass?" He stepped up and opened the door, motioning for her to enter with a jerk of his head. "Let's go inside where we have more privacy for it."

"Pretty enough"? That's still pretty, I guess... Okay, so she was a little more down to earth now, which was for the best. She blushed as the man ruined her hair. How could she mind it, though? She quickly patted it down again when she was sure he was finished and hoped that she didn't look silly.
Her face brightened as she smiled her pearly whites for the man. That was it exactly. "Would you? Should I pay?" She tilted her head as she pulled around her clutch, zipping it open and holding a few bills up. "How much does it normally cost?" She'd pay whatever she needed to. She wasn't hurting, that was for sure.
Lee choked a bit at his next remark, and thinking back to what she'd said earlier, looked around them to see who might have heard. That was... oh my. Oh, if there were any eavesdroppers close by, that would have sounded...

Zia bounded past Faolan and Lee, going into the vardo and pulling Lauss along with it. "I think I have a book that might help explain what I was talking about and also one about fortune telling that you can take with you."
Faolan watched the two Essentics go past with an amused expression, then looked down at the girl. "I won't take your money, girl. I ain't workin' the booth tonight and, besides, you're Elle's friend. Come in and I'll set up the cards." He headed on into the large wagon, padding silently across the polished wood floor on bare feet. With an almost inviting glance over his shoulder, he motioned Lee to follow as he headed to the bedroom. "Be sure to get the door on your way in."

"Such books exist?" Ziazan was the best, really. Somehow he'd managed to figure out that Lauss was a fan of books, and a fan of learning. "You are... very intelligent, Ziazan." How impressive.
Lee watched Lauss and Zia zoom past, and followed Faolan inside. She looked down, a bit embarrassed for asking, and stuffed the money back into her tiny purse. A small thought crossed her mind hearing his words. He's only nice to me because I'm Ellandra's friend, isn't he? The joy from before was fading quickly, and in its place was slight humiliation. It only grew as they headed into the bedroom, and while she should have been much more suspicious than she was, she followed quickly behind, doing as he asked. "So, um... How does this work?" She fidgeted with her skirt as she tried to seem cheerful still, looking quickly around the room and then back to Faolan. This place was... so small.

Zia rummaged about and located the books, then held them out to the proto. "Here you go, lad. I forgot to ask about what your purpose was."
Faolan sat down on the bed, then stretched to the side, muscles rolling under bare skin, to retrieve the antique deck he usually favored for occasions such as this. Sitting back up, he gestured to the other side of the bed, tucking his feet under himself to sit indian-style. "How much, ma bonny lass, do you believe in this?" He looked up at her with half-closed eyes, more mysterious and intriguing as he'd ever before appeared to the girl.

Lauss took the books offered to him, bowing to the other multiple times. "Thank you, Ziazan. I will return these when I am finished." Shouldn't be too long a wait; Lauss never had a book for more than a week. He had nothing to do but read, after all. "I am Miss Lee's tutor. Her performance in school is quite poor." He was lucky she was in the other room...
Getting into bed with her crush. Good times.
A deep blush once more covered her cheeks as it became clear this would be happening in the bedroom, on the bed. Lee curled up where he asked her to, sitting properly with her hands folded on her lap; she was wearing a skirt after all. She blinked a few times, a bit taken aback by this sudden change in the man before her. "I..." Hm. This wasn't something she'd given much thought to. "Well, I don't not believe in it." She'd never done something like this before, so she couldn't say for sure. She was pessimistic, sure, but she was also very gullible, be it true or not. "Is this real?" If he said one way or the other, she'd take his word and believe him wholeheartedly.

Ziazan nodded and held up a hand. "You can keep the books if you'd like. We have plenty on fortune telling. Not really sure why we have the other one." It found itself liking this proto, even if Lauss seemed a little touched in the head.
The young man cocked his head to the side, watching her take a seat on the bed before him. "I think with fortune telling, real is more or less dependent upon perspective. People that believe in it will see truer results than them that don't. However, there's exceptions to the rule. This deck--" He tapped the top of the antique deck. "--will never tell falsehoods. Grandmother gave it to me when I was still just a boy. Zia said it's charmed to work with my demon blood. The fortunes I tell with this deck, they're real, sure as I'm sittin' here." The look in his eyes could only be described as alluring and slightly seductive as he purred out, "Still want your fortune read, lass?"

Keep it? Forever? Lauss nodded his head in a hurry, not knowing any other way to thank Ziazan. He'd read them over and over. Having them to keep meant multiple study sessions. Meaning better comprehension. He liked where this was going. "May I practice?" The proto held up the fortune telling book. He didn't wonder whether or not he'd embarrass himself, and if he did he wouldn't care. He either hadn't grown into "shame" or just realized that the bumps along the way to learning are less important than the end destination. Or so it is said, anyway.
The mood had grown somewhat frightening, though she was drawn to Faolan even more. Maybe it's just the lighting... She stared at him unblinking as he explained, leaning forward at every word; it was like a ghost story, and all she wanted was to hear the ending. Lee swallowed the bit of drool forming in her mouth before nodding once. "Yes, please."
