I turn 18 on september 28.
Once your 18, you can just join without their permission right?

Just all the Iraq war stuff. A friend of mine just joined the military in February and he's getting shipped off to Iraq in a few days. Too dangerous over there D;!
And yep, when you are 18 you can join even if everyone you know doesn't want you to! XD.

Is it true if you are like a full time student, they wont deport you to war until you finish college? Or is that part all bullshit?

I really haven't a clue. If you want, and again if I remember, want me to ask my friend?

The Good: Job security, Looks great on a resume and is in high demand.
The Bad: If you get deployed you could die. You will become very busy and I got nothing else.

Russian Roulette is not the same without a gun, My stepdad is in the Army, and so is my cousin. I don't see a problem with it except I'm against all things war. The good part is that you're fighting for your country. I think some other bad parts are that being in the military can damage parts of you. Like, my stepdad refuses to talk about what happened during Desert Storm because there's bad memories. He also has to take medication now because something was released into the air where they were stationed and affected him.
And baby when it's love if it's not rough it isn't fun.

I planned on joining the army before I graduated. I was planning on going to Marion Military Institute (A really nice military college in South Alabama), but I realized that I would be away from my girlfriend even longer than I would want, and that I'd have to eventually go to fight which would be ok but I'd be so far away from her. Honestly the only reason I didn't join was because of her. I know that sounds lame but it's the truth. So my advice is to do what you want to do. I didn't go because of love, and the only thing holding you back is yourself. Look at every point of view, and listen to as much advice as you can, but in the end you're the only one to decide if you want to or not. I shall stay this naked until I get horns of the demon. Oh, and when you're 18 you HAVE to sign up for the draft board. Federal law. Men must sign up for draft possibility no matter what when they turn 18. Trust me, I didn't (I didn't know at the time) and I got a letter from the government saying that if I didn't I could face jailtime and a serious fine. My boyfriend is thinking on joining the army. I really wish he didn't but it's his choice and I can't stop him from making his own decisions. He would've gone to the Navy but his brother is already in the navy and he doesn't want to be out on a boat for months and months..

@Ninjer: I hope for your sake he doesn't join either, I know it would make me really sad if my significant other *if I actually had one* wanted to join.
