It would be on a Saturday that you open your mail box (if you have one) and notice there is a rather thick envelope stuffed in there. There is no postage stamp and a very vague return address. But you recognize the font and the company's name. 'Seven of Seven Inc' scrawled in majestic font across the upper left hand corner. As you open it, you may strangely find yourself drawn to the letter, there is a mass of notes inside. They read as follows:

Letter
Congratulations! You have managed to succeed in raising your child. (IE: Not killing him or her or getting killed yourself. Haha we kid of course.) We would like an update from you on the following:

Guardians Name:
Child's Name:
Sin:
Virtue:
Gender:
Current Attitude:
Likes:
Dislikes:
Any abnormal growths: (if any, example: Feathers molting, horns growing larger, scars )
Current hair style:
Current clothing preferences:
Dominant celestial trait: (The sin or virtue)

Please summarize in your own words how difficult or easy it was taking care of your child. Did you manage to care for them in a kindly fashion? Or were you forced to discipline them?
As well do not be alarmed if you suddenly find your child achieving a massive growth spurt in the next little while. We are finding that the children from our facility have strange growing patterns and are rather unpredictable. Although please let us know if anything unexpected occurs.

Sincerely the technicians from Seven of Seven Inc.

Ps. Please just leave your letter back in your mail box one you have completed it our courier will pick it up.

Thank you.

You would notice the letter seems overly friendly...strange since the scientist were so ...cold before.

(Just take the from Guardians name to Dominant Celestial trait and pm it to the mule, the summarization doesn't have to be long just have fun with it.)

It was a quiet afternoon, and Julian had settled onto the couch with one of his favorite books and a cup of beef broth; once warm, the steam had worn off of it long ago. In the hall the old grandfather clock chimed the hour, causing the boy to glance up and realize what time it was. Lovingly he set his bookmark into the pages, getting up to stretch. His feet clipped gently on the floor, he sighed and shook his hair, rubbing his head. He smiled, that strange smile that creeped out almost everyone he knew, grabbing his cup of broth and heading toward the kitchen.

The mail would be arriving soon, he realized, popping the cup into the microwave and setting the timer. He hummed along with the machine as it spun the mug around and rewarmed it. Taking it out, careful not to spill, he smiled and sipped. Yes, perfect...he was getting good at this.

Mercedes? Mercedes was gone. Not gone gone, but out for the rest of the day. She was at work, actually, ruining the lives of young and old all around the world, Julian imagined. What did he care? He was home, with his books and his music and his broth.

The insanity of the situation? He was still barely taller than the counter tops...and an absolute genius. Several days ago, he'd convinced Mercedes that he was more than capable of taking care of himself without burning the house down. It had taken a while, don't get him wrong, but finally she'd gotten tired of his begging and given in. She left him alone one afternoon while she went shopping...came back, the apartment was still there. Mercedes then went to work for a whole morning, stopping by to check on him at lunch; he was reading in the sun room. Once she left that day, she stopped bothering him about going to work with her, or really going anywhere with her anymore. The only way Julian could have made this better would have been to have his brother there.

Bing-bong-bing-bing. Bing-bong-bing-bong. Bing. Bong. Bing. Hrm, door bell. The mail was here, excellent.

It always took Julian a moment to be able to check who was at the door. First he had to stop whatever it was that he'd been doing, which in this care meant setting his beef broth securely down on a side table. Then he had to get his stool from the kitchen, put it to the side of the door...and peer through the peep whole to make sure he knew who it as on the other side. Usually, if they were gone by the time he got there, whatever reason they'd been ringing the bell wasn't all that important to begin with.

The mailman, however, knew the routine by now...so what surprised Julian wasn't the fact that he was still standing at the door after the little boy managed to check. What surprised him was that today, he had a large, brown envelope. Who was that for? Was that for his house?

"Just a minute." They were the first words Julian had spoken all day.

Once the locks were undone and the door open, Jules listened patiently as the package was explained; indeed, it was for his house...Julian himself, actually.

"Thank you," he said politely, nodding his head before backing into the apartment again to shut and lock the door.

A package for him? Settling down on the couch again, he inspected the plain envelope. It had his name on it and a logo on the flap; other than that, it was unimpressive and unassuming. However, the logo made all the difference: SoS, the facility. Julian's face darkened at the idea of having to deal with that place again. Still, he as a curious thing. What on Earth could they be sending him?

Pictures, detailed reference sheets, a questionnaire, and a request to send it all back once complete.

Julian's 'Demon' Study Sheet
1: What is the name of the parent that you picked to study this time around?
A: Reshmi, the Spider demon

2: What is the Virtue or Vice of the creature? Or was the one your studying a Neutral? Or is it Reshmi who doesn't fall into any of those categories?
A. This question is a repeat of #1. Reshmi is one of my parents.

3: What made you pick this person? Was it because you were more curious about them? Or was it something else?
A. I am interested about the red thread that he is using. Did he make that, or did he buy it from a store?

4: From the photo do you see anything right away that reminds you of you? Answer Yes or No.
A. Yes.

5: Name at least one thing you have in common with the one that your studying up on today.
A. We have many arms and eyes, and sharp teeth. Izzy looks more like Reshmi than me.

6: From the reference material do you find that it sounds as though you have anything in common with this creature that isn't something physical? Answer Yes or No.
A. Maybe?

7: If you answered yes, what is it you have in common with the one you're studying up on today other then physical traits?
A. He doesn't look as friendly as the Faun. I don't know if we have anything else in common other than that.

8: What is it that you find the most interesting the one you're studying today be it something physical or perhaps a skill that they might have.
A. This is like question #3. I want to know what that red thread is.

9: If you had one question you could ask of this person what might it be?
A. Where did you get that red thread from?

The Death of Isaac's father, Dominic.
PostPosted: Sat Jun 11, 2011 7:48 pm

It was well past midnight by the time Mercedes came home from work. The house was dark save for the light in the hall, Julian probably having gone to bed hours ago. Either that, or he was up in his room reading...Mercedes didn't really care. Life had been quiet but hectic, especially over the past month or so since the death of the father of Julian's twin.

He'd demanded to go to the funeral, and ever since coming back had been terribly withdrawn. He rarely left his room, which was fine by Mercedes, but Mrs CrumpleBottom...Puff - whatever that woman's name was - kept calling and asking when she was going to be needed to watch him again. Either she was hard up for money, or she really liked Julian. Whatever, the kid needed to snap out of it. She wasn't about to start taking his dinner up to him at night.

Settling down with a glass of wine, Mercedes started going through the day's mail. Junk, junk...more junk...

"Oh God, no," Mercy groaned when she saw the letter from Seven of Seven. "What do they want now?"

She almost didn't open it, not wanting to deal with their s**t tonight. Yet, she knew better. So after her second glass of wine, while she was working on her third, she opened the letter and read through.

An update on Julian. Huh, well that didn't sound so bad. However, they also wanted to hear Julian's side of life...that was different. That could be potentially difficult.

"Meh, he owes me," she said, her voice a little heavy from the alcohol. "Letting him stay...home by himself. At 8 years old, who does that?"

Pulling out her laptop, she steadied her glass and began.

Mercedes's Journal

To the Seven of Seven Facilities:

I'm sure you've already been informed of the death of Dominic, the man who adopted Julian's twin brother. Despite not knowing the man very well, the loss has been rough on Jules. Though he's always been quiet, more often than not he is up in his room and rarely speaks to me.

It has come at a rough time, seeing as my job has been more demanding this season than normal. Not wanting to keep the poor boy cooped up in my office all day long, I've hired a nanny to take him on outings. Before the passing of Dominic, they often went to the park where Julian was starting to make friends. He's also mentioned that he's enjoyed watching some of the park-goers play chess.

I'm afraid there isn't much more that I can do besides wait for him to feel more comfortable with talking to me. I'm trying to keep myself open for him, but I know that these things can take time. It's not the easiest job, being a parent, but I'm trying.

Regards,
Mercedes Fauve

After sending the letter on the way, Mercedes closed up her laptop and started getting ready for bed. She paused however, to scribble a note for Julian. The facility wants an update on you. Write them.

"He's a smart boy...he should be able to...to figure that out," she slurred, stumbling up the steps to her bedroom, barely able to change her clothes before she collapsed on her bed.
