He's trying!!! gonk

If 'trying' is flailing at the spigots while trying not to slip, AND trying to steady Baikou all at once, then yes, Hitsuga is trying very hard.

His bangs sleek into his eyes as they become soaked, making it hard for him to see. In giving his head a sharp toss to move them aside, however, he succeeds only in showering his dear friend in a solid flag of cold water.

Baikou just manages to haul herself up out of Hitsuga's way in time to get whapped by the icy water, and she squeals again, "Aaaaaaaieeee!"

But even while cringing from the cold, she looks around the room desperately. Bucket? Does Hitsuga have a bucket in here!? Though worried she might slip on a wet patch of floor, she tentatively steps into the middle of the room for something to divert the water away from Hitsuga's head.

He doesn't--

He's just--

If he could--

His hands paw at the spigots blindly, twisting them until, finally, the water stops, leaving him leaning forward against the wall of the sower, drenched, and panting rapidly.

There is a long, long silence.

....its okay. It stopped...

The projection is small, utterly humiliated, and dripping (almost as much as he is) with apology.

Baikou didn't manage to find a bucket in time -- but she did find a towel and is cautiously returning with to smother Hitsuga's head in it.

Baikou is sorry, soooo soooorry, she almost whimpers while attempting to scrub him dry, even as she acknowledges that the effort is probably hopeless. "Your clothes... all soaked... must be so cold..."

Baikou has nothing to be sorry for. Baikou is fine. Hitsuga is the one who should be sorry. He didn't mean to upset her. Not when all she'd wanted was a bath....! gonk

Flitters of panic whine on the air as he reaches up to fold the towel back from his face, only to see that, she's nearly as soaked as he is. More apologies, some of them incomprehensible as his hands, seeming to be acting ahead of his sense, take up the opposite end of the same towel she's trying to dry him with in an attempt to dry HER.

To an onlooker, they may have looked utterly ridiculous...

And as Hitsuga attempts to counterattack, Baikou in turn tries to bat Hitsuga's towel away with her hands. There's no need for him to dry her, she's going to take a bath and get wet all over again!

... Here, or at Setsushi's, if they're unlucky...

She attempts then to snatch the towel away from him, grabbing at it with clumsy fingers, and roll it up under her arms where he can't get at it. "Don't be silly," she growls at him, though in far more of an affectionate way than an annoyed one.

... And she gets a good look at him, not only still wet but with his bangs even more interestingly stuck to his face after she attacked them with the towel, and... makes a strange sound, somewhere between a shivering hiccup and a snicker.

He reaches for the towel even as its rolled up and put out of his reach, drawing his hands back to himself sharply like a small child who's just been caught touching something he shouldn't.

He knows, he KNOWS, he's sorry, he wasn't thinking. But he didn't mean to--

The thought hangs on the air, open-ended and interrupted by the noise she's made, unaware that his bangs are currently making him look like a depressed sea urchin.

He blinks at her in confusion.

.....what? neutral

Though she tries to press her lips together and simply smile, she can't help the few little snorts that escape anyway.

Hitsuga just looked so very sad, she explains -- and tries to use the momentary distraction to drop the towel on his face again and do a more effective job of drying off his hair.

... But his clothes are pretty thoroughly soaked.
gonk Hopefully he has a spare outfit that's clean and dry?

He does. Its in his bedroom. He'll get it

As the towel is draped over him once again, he once more, folds it back from his face.

Its....its all right, he assures her, clenching his jaw against the shiver that threatens to chatter his teeth from the cold wet of his clothes. He'll put himself back in order, Baikou doesn't need to worry so much.

Wet clothes are, after all, not the worst he's dealt with by any stretch of the imagination... sweatdrop

With another soft giggle, Baikou assents. "All right," as Hitsuga wishes. He can go get changed and Baikou will fiddle with the contraption in the meantime (and she will try not to break it again, she promises.) They're lucky that it's a warm summer day that they had this little adventure, aren't they?

She moves back over to the bathtub, and... ... ... wonders what to do with the towel a moment before folding it up and draping it over the edge of the tub. She continues to stand there a moment, wondering how she will reach the tap without trapping herself on the floor again...

Hitsuga does not immediately leave, remaining where he is to look at the shower warily, as if its a sentient being that he's just lost a fight with. (however accurate that may be at the moment...)

....and then he leans in past her, pressing the button that had started their troubles, and giving one of the spigots an experimental twist, ready to shy back if he's wrong.

The tub's faucet gurgles to life, beginning to fill it without incident.

.....and now its HIS turn to try and contain laughter.

Baikou gives off a feeling of abrupt and energetic joy, like that of an excited schoolgirl clapping her hands. "Hitsuga!" did it! Good man.

Placing one hand lightly on his shoulder as she leans in to examine (and memorize) the apparatus's current settings, she wonders if the temperature control is the same as on the sink? Could Hitsuga show her that so that she doesn't cause a disaster when she next tries to adjust it?

Its much the same as the sink, he agrees, once he's collected himself from how absolutely stupid the whole ordeal had been, and stifles any residual giggles.

This one, he taps the right spigot with a fingertip, is the cold water. And this one, he taps the left, is the hot. And....well, he doesn't suppose he needs to explain further than that, he decides, turning back toward her. Surely Baiko--

......

He hadn't realized she was standing quite that close.

Baikou looks up at Hitsuga as he turns to her, smiling up at him stupidly for a few seconds until she realizes that he isn't smiling at her.

"Oh." Excuse her, she says, shuffling to the side to give him some space to escape.

... Well, then, a long soak should improve Baikou's condition a lot. ... Not that she's sure she needs it so much anymore, as it doesn't feel so bad right now... perhaps giggling at Hitsuga has already helped plenty...

Her mental babbling trails off as she leans down to test the temperature of the water and adjust the spigots carefully.

At first, he seems to take the offered escape gladly, brushing past her to give her space to get into the tub. ....though there is a certain sadness that hangs in the air that keeps him, still, from leaving. It stirs feelings of guilt, and remorse....

Where did you go, Baikou...? he wants to ask the woman before him. He sees glimpses of her now and then....the same take-charge and confident girl she'd once been. But she's hiding in a mire of self-blame and....he doesn't know what.

He hesitates, biting his lip a moment, eyes alternating between the floor and her.

.....if Baikou is, indeed, feeling better after her bath, would she like to see the Market district? he ventures.
