Fao ushered the others into the nursery, hoping no one around noticed the giant butterfly. "Rhian, lass, calm down some, eh?" He put a hand on Zia's back, nudging to youth in as well. "Let's go, hinny. Don't need you losin' more cards out here."

"Well, Rhian is a newborn, I suppose; you must always forgive a child's enthusiasm for there's no chance of a cure," Verdant said with an overly-cheerful giggle. "Besides, it's a nice way to get to know her personality, you know? A first impression is always the strongest, I think. Is that the saying? I don't remember. Oh, so did you guys hear that they're opening up a new vegan store a few blocks from Apollo's Hyacinth? I can't wait to go; I'm not a vegan, but have you ever had vegan chocolate chip cookies? Damn, they taste lovely! I'll have to make some if later today if you guys want; I made some dessert, but I don't know if you guys like carrot cake, so I brought a small cheesecake too; you can never have enough cake!"
The thing about Verdant was that the hungrier he got, the more he rambled. He was clearly starving at this point and it seemed there wasn't going to be an end to his bleatings until he got some solid food in him.

"Hungry, are you, Verdant?" Ellandra asked, trying not to smile too much at the rambling of her eccentric (and that was a compliment, most certainly) friend. Rhian finally stilled her wings, peering at Verdant with twitching antennae instead. The social Proto hadn't gotten to be around annyone other than her immediate family very often, so new people was still extremely interesting - although, since she was a social spark, perhaps she would always be excited by meeting new people.
"Many, many sweets," the butterfly chirped, her antennae flicking about. "Is there any fluffy treat?"
Ellandra sighed and patted Rhian's head. "You'll get some cotton candy when we go home, all right, flutterby?"

Elst quietly escorted his guests and employee up the lightly cobblestoned path, his silence a rather noticeable contrast to the excited guests and employee alike. Aoi watched Rhian with an air of slight wonder upon seeing his new sibling, following Elst closely behind. Zia seemed quite uninterested in him, so he kept his distance. He wondered what this ‘fluffy treat’ was, still confused after Ellandra mentioned ‘cotton candy’. He directed his thoughts towards both Rhian and Ellandra, each having used a different name for the mysterious sweet substance.
Fluffy treat? Cotton candy? What’s that…? Elst barely heard the Essentic’s words, but registered them carefully, He himself had only heard of it on a couple of occasions, it was some sort of candy, befittingly looked like cotton balls. He actually had a bag of it he’d bought from the nearby grocery store not too long ago; he’d been meaning to actually try it sometime. It was probably in a cabinet somewhere, he’d probably bring it out for Rhian to enjoy at some point. For the moment, though, he was a bit more concerned with Verdant’s words.
“Oh, you made dessert, Verdant? That’s nice, I hadn’t really thought of that, good thing you did…” He paused for a moment, thinking. “Oh, by the way, it’s a bit of a walk to my actual house, but not too unbearable.” As they passed one of the greenhouses, the house itself was visible a decent walk away.

Verdant, having expelled a bit of his hunger-crazy enthusiasm, began speaking far slower and wasn't sounding like he should be admitted into an asylum.
"Yeah, I had some time this morning and I thought it'd be nice to make something for everybody. Then I couldn't decide what to make, so I baked both cakes." He then turned to their guests and grinned. "It is a kinda long walk, but the view is spectacular and you won't even realize how far it is when you're looking at all the flowers and trees."

As they walked, Rhian looked around excitedly, her wings fluttering rapidly now and then. Finally, the butterfly could take it no longer and escaped Ellandra's grasp, taking off through the nursery in the vague direction of Elst's home - and heading straight for the monster lavender plant while she was at it. "So many pretty flowers! So much room! So much, so much! It's better than fluffy treat!"
Ellandra's eyes widened. "Rhian! Rhian, come back here! It's not safe yet!" And the brunette took off running after her overexcited butterfly child, forgetting everyone and everything else in her worry for Rhian - who was oblivious to her owner chasing her, so caught up was she in the wonders that surrounded her.

Verdant saw Rhian flutter away at break-neck speed and Ellandra running right behind her. He looked over at Faolan and Ziazan; was this a regular occurence in the Grady family's outings or was it just today? He turned back to watch the two girls and ran after them immediately after he saw that they were headed towards the lavender bush. It was a good idea NOT to get too close to that thing; he'd already lost two Incubus CDs, a cheeseburger, and his favorite watering can to it and he was convinced that the monster had become carnivorous.
"Rhian, stop! That thing'll swallow you up like Oprah would a baked ham!"

Faolan's ears went up at Verdant's words and he broke into a run, chasing after his wife and her Essentic. Thankfully he was in good shape from years of training and was a lot quicker than Elle, flying past her to hurl himself at Rhian in an attempt to tackle her down before she got close to the plant she was heading for.
Although not as fast as its owner, Zia, too, ran to help, catching Elle around the waist to stop her. "Da will get her, Mama. No running in your condition."

Verdant picked up speed the closer the crazy butterfly got to the plant. He could've sworn the damn thing started moving, but it could've just been the lack of air reaching his brain. A few yards before he reached Rhian, Faolan sped past him and tried to tackle(?) the poor dear.
"Hold on!" Verdant ran even faster and tried his best to catch up with them, but tripped on a root and fell flat on his face. His crystal was sent flying, flying, flying, flying... right into the accursed plant. Verdant lifted his head, spat out grass and a clump of dirt, and swore so loudly that the flocks of birds nesting in the trees all around them flew up and began chirping in ********>

Rhian flicked her antennae and dodged Faolan's attempt to catch her, quite certain this was all jsut a game. When she saw the pretty sparkly - Essentic? - go flying into the plant, she headed right for it, not knowing it was dangerous. "Don't worry, I'll get the sparkly for youuuu!" She called out, excited that she was about to get to do something really helpful.
Caught by Ziazan, Ellandra nearly fell over, eyes wide with worry. "B-but - I . . ." Words failed her.

Faolan landed on the ground when Rhian dodge him, muttering out a rather colorful curse, and got to his feet almost instantly to try and catch her again. "Rhian, come here!" he yelled, running after her, hoping for once she'd listen to him.
Zia kept its arms around Elle's waist, peering around the woman to watch Faolan chase its sister. "He's quicker than you, Mama. He'll have a better chance to catch her."

Verdant was swearing up a storm. Seriously, he had no idea he knew how to swear in Greek, but apparently he did. He felt like crying; he'd been so careful and had cared for Orpheus so much- only for it to end up in the belly of a lavender beast. Then he heard Rhian's words. This did not bode well. He got up and continued to run forward, hell-bent on keeping Rhian away from the monster.
A beautiful, melodious rang out from within the massive plant, stopping Verdant in his tracks. The music was rapturous, so soothing and peaceful that he couldn't help but forget his worries. Why was he running again? Something important... wasn't it? He wasn't sure anymore, but he did know he didn't want the song to end.
As the song resonated throughout the nursery, a glittering light emanated from the plant and burst forward like a beam. It aimed itself right at the nymph and sent him flying back a few feet. Each time Verdant hit the ground, it sounded like someone was banging their fists on a piano's keys. He finally stopped and lay flat on his back, his whole body aching and his outfit absolutely ruined. He was about to curse again when he found himself face-to-face with a small blue wyvern. Its adorable bushy tail flicked back and forth like a kitten's as it stared intently at Verdant.
"Cheep cheep?"

The sky was nice… Elst was, to be honest, spacing a little as the manic panic was unfurling around him, and he finally came to just in time to witness the crystalline spark flying through the air, right into… Uh oh. What went in THAT plant never really came out. This was a problem.
Suddenly in ‘overdrive mode’, Elst’s body surged to life as he began to hurry towards the lavender, legs a flurry as he ran as fast as he could. He’d was almost there, perhaps he could convince the lavender to cough up it’s prospective meal when… Where was that light coming from? Suddenly, the air filled with…music? as the light glowed brighter.
A…dragon? Sprite? Something floated from the lavender, and, to further estrange the situation, made a noise like a bird. Orpheus had decided to make his appearance, it seemed.
Aoi, in the meanwhile, was watching the panic, much more aware than Elst was, but didn’t seem to make any effort to help. He wasn’t trying to seem uncaring, he just knew he wouldn’t be any help if he tried. He was a Magicker Spark, not a sprinter, and they all seemed to be on it already. What got his attention though, was the new arrival from within the lavender. He ran however fast his legs would carry him, heading towards the carnivorous plant and the sibling before it. …Orpheus…?

Rhian's attention was immediately diverted away from the giant plant by the emergence of - oooh, new sibling-friend! And off she zipped again, this time over to Verdant and the little singing Wyvern to go about introducting herself. She was completely oblivious to Faolan's continued chasing of her. "Essentic! New sibling-friend! Hello! Hello! You have good timing, new friend, that big plant seems all alive and mean!"
Ellandra, meanwhile, felt her legs try to give away beneath her as she watched the events unfold. Finally, now that all of the danger (and drama) was ver, she dropped her head into her hands and sighed. "Ziazan. . . do you suppose it would be cruel to put your sister on a leash until she learns not to fly off to dangerous things?" She was a little serious, but mostly just concerned - and a little frustrated at the flutterby's overexcitement. It could be so dangerous for her, and Rhian just didn't . . . seem to care.

Faolan stopped running, bending over to rest his hands on his knees and catch his breath, heart racing and skipping beats more now. He'd be happier for the new arrival if it weren't for the fact he felt like keeling over.
Zia just chuckled, hugging Ellandra. "Perhaps a leash and some discipline is in order. She should come when called and stop when told to. Da can't be the one to teach her, Mama. She won't learn on her own, then you have to tell her." The alter rested its head against Elle's watching the others. "And now it seems I have another member in my extended family."
