quilts made from favorite t's. corset made from old blue jeans. haven't bought paper towels in over a year - i buy mismatched dinner napkins from garage sales and second hand stores. we used to make rag rugs from whatever old clothes we had (my 1st ex-mother-in-law first got married during the depression. great recourse). drawstring bags make excellent gift wrapping, and can be re-used for whatever you have a mind to. my bondage pants are now a few sizes too large, and are slowly making their way into a skirt. old sheets that are useless for bedding are turned into laundry bags if there is anything left. if old socks can be salvaged (do NOT use a teenagers socks) they can hold accessories etc. in the top drawer. much more can be done, with little effort. don't sweat it. if one thing doesn't work for you, there's something else. every little bit helps.

I decided on getting a road bike for my 16th birthday instead of a car. I refuse to litter and try to keep my family and friends from littering too, even cigarette butts. And I just joined a organization that is going to try and restore our local community. :]

I've seen a ferret on meth before: that was bad. A drunk doggie would be kinda cute if you get me (If it came in like a funny sake-addicted-man).Dorter6 I do hours upon hours of volunteer work, cleaning highways, and such. What I'm most proud of, though, is my work with the gifted program at my school. For the FLL Robotics Regionals and State Competitions, the theme this year was revolving around Global Warming. We planted trees around the school building for many reasons, including, but not limited to:
-reducing heating/cooling costs -providing shade for students -reducing soil erosion -attempting to lessen our impact on the environment.
One tree provides a year's worth of oxygen for ten people. If each school in this country were to plant five trees, just think about how much clean oxygen would be produced! Also, we started a recycling program for aluminum, paper, and water-bottles, and placed compost bins outside, which is where a lot of leftover lunch scraps go. Our presentation was so amazing, it got us to state, even though the robot broke, and went haywire. In previous years, the theme had been alternative energies, which I researched for quite a bit. Geothermal energy and wind energy interest me the most... Anyway, we went around to district schools, including my own, and gave a demonstration to all the students, so that they now know a lot more about how a wind turbine works, or exactly how much money they can save in the long run, by switching off lights during the daytime, or heating their house geothermally. Personally, I can't wait to see what'll be accomplished during my high-school years. If I, just some random kid, can impact the world in the slightest, just imagine what others with more power will be able to do.
WriterJames2070 I obsessively collect garbage I see on the ground and dispose of it properly. Its sad that I can literally spend an hour combing through my yard for cigarette butts, paper napkins, and all manner of trash people throw out their windows right next to my house sad Butt I do it! biggrin I'm also a rabid recycler biggrin My mom thinks its crazy that I make sure all the paper and cans and glass bottles get into the recycle bin rather than the trash. surprised Dorter6 and WriterJames2070, we could be triplets 3nodding . I root for you. heart

Oh, you guys do so much that I feel useless. T^T
Um, I've helped started an eco-campaign at my school to spread awareness and we do community projects like scrubbing off graffiti at the nearby skate park and plant indigenous plants at the nearby parks. We also raise money for more projects, too, by doing stuff like the plantings.
Um...I've joined several environmental organizations? .___." was hoping that when I get into college, I'd be able to take part in Greenpeace's student program. sweatdrop

I'm in a group called community connections where we go to the humane center and help them out. We also go to schools and businesses and get recycling and take it to the recycling center to help them out. We do adopt a highway and go to a nursing home =D Its tons of fun to meet new people and help others out

1) I got back our school's recycling program when it got cancelled. Then I volunteered to recycle once a week before school started. I collected and dumped recycling bins. 2) I picked up trash around my school for two hours. 3) I planted and water plants at my church voluntarily. 4) My family uses those grocery bags that are recycled, and you can keep using them. And if we forget, we use paper. 5) I turn lights off in the house when I'm not using those rooms.
And I'll probably volunteer at an animal shelter when I'm old enough. Next year.

Well.. I'm a vegetarian, I buy as much ecological food as I can, I recycle, I don't drive a car, I use the bus/train instead, I'm part of the biggest animal welfare organization in Sweden, I almost always pick up trash I find on the ground, my electricity comes from wind and water power, and of course I turn off the light and any other electricity when I'm not in a room.
Keep it up guys. heart mrgreen

eutropication has become a large problem in a lake near where I live as well as the ocean. It starts with large blue green algae blooms and then turns into dead zones. One of the things that i am doing to lower the amount of phosphorus that i add to the water is buying phosphorus free laundry detergent. Another one that I do is use phosphorus free fertilizers.
