The First Night
Key Matisha: Purple Amanda: Green Delano: DarkRed
The early morning light creped along the lawn as it slowly awoke its earthly inhabitants. The flowers opened gracefully as they soaked in the sun, the sudden movement in the trees becoming more flustered as the birds prepared for the new day. Although it was only 4am the birds and the bees were not the only creatures to be up that morning.
Tugging at the bed sheets that grasped tightly around her body Matisha drew in a sharp breath as she tried to gain composer. It had only been a few silent minutes since she had awoken from her nightmare, but the fear was still there. The dream had sent cold shivers down her spine and beads of sweat to run off her face as she tried to relax her muscles. Never had she experience a dream such like the one she had, never had one felt so real. Yet her hands continued to shake as she rubbed her face, bringing her senesces back to her as she looked over at the clock.
"Oh god it's only 4:13, I'll never get back to sleep." Matisha mumbled wearily as her tired eyes tried to focus on the numbers.
The daunting thought of work only being 3 hours away was enough to keep anyone awake, yet Matisha threw herself back onto the pillow as if the sudden force would send her off to dreamland once again. But the nightmare still plagued her mind as she tried to gain the rest she needed.
All she could remember was this incredible heat and the feeling that she could only explain as pins and needles running up and down her limbs. Her voice didn't work, or rather there was no-one there who wanted to hear her pleas. But where they hers? The body felt different, she felt taller, sleeker even and maybe even older than she really was. Was it an outer-body experience? Matisha knew she was talented in the art of witchcraft but she had only dabbled in dreams a few times, not having the power to gain control over something so free-willed. The main concern was her in-ability to move, not to even bring her hands in front of her. Even her neck felt tight, like rope cutting of the circulation from her limbs, what was she tied to? Matisha couldn't quite remember where the dream took place only that she felt restricted and very uncomfortable, an understatement of the year. The last thing she could remember of the dream was a snarling crowd, shouting for a death, her death, this body's death and their wish was granted as the pins and needles consumed her torso and the fire licked at her face.
Shaking her head violently Matisha threw her thoughts about as she tried to forget the details, it was something that she didn't want haunting her for the rest of the day while there were papers and articles to write up. Looking back up at the clock she realised that her pondering had taken her an hour closer to 7:30am, the time that she would normally stir on any given morning. The young witch could only mumble in protest as she swung her legs off the bed and onto the laminated floor, this was going to be a long day.
****************************************************
Pulling the papers from the desk draw, Matisha tried to lick crumbs of her chin as she wobbled about, a breakfast donut clutched tightly in her hand. Amazingly haven woken 2 hours earlier Matisha still found herself in a hurry to get things done and the constant bickering of her other house hold guests where not helping. Amanda her next door neighbour...well 3 miles down the road next door neighbour had arrived on time like she normally did through out the week. She was a cheerful soul always smiling and happy but was in constant need for company and found herself around at Matisha's home more than her own. At the current moment Amanda was trying to separate the two fighting Angeni that had started an argument over the breakfast table. Lust who was always getting her way had decided to throw things at Delano who sat across from her and in turn retaliated with other breakfast goods.
"Come on you two, quit it. I really don't want to be tiding up after you again...Lust! Put that down!"
The small creature that was only 10 inches tall had grabbed another donut and was tearing chucks of it to throw at her competitor. For such a tiny being they made quite a mess as Matisha was soon to find out as she walked into the kitchen
"Oh for Go-...You guys I do not need this, will you calm down? Gees you'd think they hated each other."
Matisha said with a grin as she stuffed the paperwork into her suitcase, a battered old thing that needed replacing. Delano piped up as Matisha finished and pointed a small finger at Lust, a face of disgust across his features.
"Who would ever like her?"
He shouted as he glared over at the other Angeni who stuck out her tongue, despite their mythical appearances they were only children. Matisha shook her head with defeat as she smiled at Amanda who pushed a steaming cup of coffee towards her direction.
"You seem more than a little stressed this morning, what happened, bad night?"
Matisha sipped the hot liquid slowly as she took in the smells and feeling that it brought to her, coffee was her elixir of life not some mythical potion hidden away.
"Well you could say that, more of a bad morning really. I had this horrible dream and it wasn't just your plain old zombie nightmare. This dream felt real...I could swear I felt heat raising from the flames the rope cutting into me....oh ha-ha sorry you have no idea what am going on about do you? I dreamt I was being burned alive last night."
Amanda stood staring at her laughing friend as she continued to drink her coffee and devour the remainder of the donut.
"Matisha for all the years I've know you, you still freak me out...that aside what are your plans?"
Matisha peered over her glasses which she had gracefully slipped over her nose as she pulled out a diary from her suitcase.
"Am re-visiting that Legend HQ today, you know the one I told you about with the gifted children? I have yet more questions to ask for next month's article which I seem to be getting no-where with. It's difficult to catch anyone in there, let alone someone who is a 'guardian' of a legend." Matisha said as she quoted the guardian remark.
"Yet I have to get going anyway, I really wish they had a phone just so I could check anyone was there and knowing my luck there won't be."
Matisha said with a sigh as she pulled on her coat, grabbing her suitcase as she waved goodbye to the two Angeni who had settled down to just name calling. Amanda walked Matisha to the door to give a last minute hug as she opened the gateway to her home.
"You sure you're ok with babysitting those two? Am not normally called out like this but I really need this article and its time to do some research. You'll be ok on your own wont you? I could set up Theo if you wanted?"
Amanda shook her head as her hands settled on Matisha shoulders.
"I'll be fine, I know how to set up Theo anyway, and I doubt those two would be so much of a problem that I'd need a mechanical doll to help me out. Have a good day Matisha, and please don't get too stressed."
Matisha smiled back as she and Amanda shared an awkward moment, the pair didn't want to upset a good friendship and unfortunately they couldn't make more of it.
"See you tonight Amanda."
Matisha said as she pushed open the front door and pulled out her car keys. The fact that near enough nobody drove in Gaia may her feel guilty about her lazy attitude but it didn't stop the fact that she was going to be late and was soon driving towards the Legend HQ.

A Little Surprise
A quick glance in the car mirror confirmed that Matisha looked presentable, the jam stain from her donut wiped away as she stepped out of the vehicle into the brisk autumn morning. Winter was surely round the corner as the belt that hung loosely on Matisha's coat was pulled tighter as she made her way to the HQ doors.
The Legend HQ was a place that had been built for gifted children and not just the normal gifted kids that were intelligent or good at sports. These chosen few had been born again. It sounded unbelievable to Matisha a few months ago when she first arrived to the place. Even with her understanding of the mysteries of the world she had always believed that once a person had lived their lives they couldn't come back again, so powerful was the soul and the effects it had on others that it wouldn't be possible for it to sustain life again. Unfortunately to Matisha belief this wasn't so and this was how legends came about. She called the children legends since it was the only word she knew that explain them. Having read snippets of information about some of the older legends, she had learned of past life's, myths, and quests that have effected and changed their current lives, many have been re-born to fulfil a certain deed, something that only guardians can help out with. Matisha hadn't enough information for a factual article and more research was needed for the magazine editor to accept it. Matisha's job was her life, it took her places that she had never been before, had gained her friends and family that she adored but sometimes in moments where she couldn't cope with the work load she just wanted to quit.
Running up the steps of the HQ Matisha gave a shove of the double doors to see if they were open. One gave a slight creaking sound and shifted inwards letting out the light from inside. Matisha checked she had her suitcase in hand and placed her fingers in her pocket making sure her recorder was safely tucked away. Pushing the door fully open she entered the HQ hallway that lead to different room's on the first floor. A stairway to the left of her lead up to rooms that were often used by Legends who decided to stay the night or in some case for much longer. Matisha knew that the main 'social room' was to her right, others lead to the kitchen, study and other rooms which she had not yet explored and probably wasn't allowed to either.
Walking into the main-room it was big but cosy; sofas and chair were dotted about with coffee tables arranged with flowers and ornaments to give the place a more relaxed feeling. To one corner there was a large rug and what seemed like a collection of toys and other playful oddities for the younger legends to play with and in another corner was a large TV, maybe for the guardians who wanted 5 minutes to themselves.
"Hello?" Matisha shouted as she looked around the room, the lights were on even the TV was but no sound escaped and the chairs and settees looked used and unsettled but there was no-one to greet her...as usual. Sighing aloud she walked over to the nearest chair and put down her suitcase that had started to dig into her fingers. Once again there was no one to question or interview. No legends to take pictures of or study, this was like a never ending battle which sadly she was losing.
"Maybe I should ring up Maria, tell her this Legend thing won't happen....Maybe something on the comet that circles the earth in a few weeks. I could jazz that story up a bit."
Realising that the day wouldn't work out for her Matisha stuck a hand into her pocket, by-passing the recorder and reached for her cell phone. Flipping it open she started to dial a number
"0187...err...7632...HUH? What the?-" Matisha jumped as a sudden noise struck the air as she typed in the last number. Folding her phone back up she peered around the room, nobody had walked in while she wasn't looking and to her knowledge their wasn't anyone else here. Yet the sound continued. A muffled sound to start, like sobbing but gentler, like the end to a good cry. Matisha took a few steps towards a light blue sofa, the sound become more distressed every step she took, she was a little more than freaked out.
"Is anyone there? Hello...am just...visiting, am a reporter and I...I..." The noise became a wailing sound as she tried to finish her sentence, yet she recognized it. It was coming from a child, a baby even and as she looked around the sofa there she was staring back.
*************************************************
Naeva sat there in the blue buggy decorated with cartoon stars and moons as she stared at the raven haired woman who creped round the sofa, for the last hour she has been crying and no-one had come to her aid except for the sudden appearance of this stranger. Normally she would unbuckle the dratted belt that tied her to the buggy and find someone, but the young body held her captive and all she could do was cry as her inexperienced vocals couldn't shout for help. And to top it all of, this weird woman was staring at her as if she had something wrong, Naeva knew that the cursed body was merely a child's, but it wasn't that shocking.
A low whimper escaped Naeva's lips as she once again started to wail in protest at Matisha's presence. This wasn't who she wanted, she wanted Sajhiri (something she never thought she would hear herself say) but unfortunately she needed her. For some reason her celestial guardian had left her here, not quiet knowing the reason why other than the pang of guilt that struck her heart. Naeva's tears were mixed with the distressed sound of her pain. She didn't mean to hurt Rebecca; never would she hurt her on purpose, never. But what happened was all so fast she couldn't stop, her body, this mind wasn't old or prepared enough for what she thought she could do. The extracts of old memories were confusing enough for her but trying to act out what she thought she knew was all a mistake. She never should have given her those leaves, that make-shift potion...too many, she didn't count them, she had hurt her...poisoned her...
*************************************************
Matisha gasped as she realised it was a baby who was making all the noise, the infant only increasing her wail as she kneeled down next to her to get a better look. Using a free hand to mess with one of the toy stars that hung down from the carrier Matisha shook the toy in front of the baby, trying to get a smile but to no avail.
"Oh you poor dear...where's your mommy heh?"
Matisha shook her head "she's a baby, dummy, she can't tell you." she thought as she stood back up, edging away from the baby carrier as if leaving the child now would cause great harm.
"Hello? Anyone here, got a lost baby here....helllooo? Any mums lose a child....hellloooo."
Her voice simply echoed though the room and down the hallway as no-one replied to her calls. Matisha looked sadly back at the child. "No one would have just left her here would they? I mean...there must be somebody about..." But no matter how Matisha tried to dismiss the child she knew she couldn't leave her here. Kneeling back down Matisha doubled checked for anything that told her of the baby's origins. Pulling back a small bag of nappies and toys she found tucked away behind the carrier Matisha lifted up a small note.Quote: < Dear LotT staff
Due to circumstances that I couldn't control Naeva has become too dangerous to keep around my other children and family. This was a hard decision to make, one which hasn't come lightly. But to protect my daughter I must separate them and sadly I must return Naeva to you. I wish to write more but this is heartbreaking enough and I shall end it here. Nappies and toys have been left in the bag with some of her favourite food, please take care of her, I only wish that I could.
From Sajhiri > *This is a real crap made up letter, please wait for it to be updated!*"Wow...that's...bad..."
Matisha took a few minutes to plan her next course of action. By the looks of things there was no-one here and unless there was they defiantly didn't want other people to know. In that case Naeva, (as Matisha decided to go with the child's name that had been given in the letter) couldn't be left alone, Matisha didn't know how long she had been left already she wasn't going to risk someone stumbling across her in 5 hours time.
"Looks like your coming home with me then deary...don't worry am sure your mum will be back soon...hmm..."
Running over to where she had left her suitcase Matisha grabbed the notebook that was stuffed down one of the side pockets. Pulling a pen from her coat she scribbled down her address and cell number.
"If your mother does come back I don't won't her to worry about where you have gone. I'll leave this on the table and see if anyone rings in the next twenty four hours. If not well...maybe I will have to seek higher help..."
Naeva obviously didn't want to go with the stranger and as soon as Matisha touched the handle another scream arose from the carrier as she began to protest of the departure.
"Hey its not that bad, I promise to put you in the front of the car, you know ride shotgun or what ever they call it....I'll buy you something nice....food? Is food what you want? Oh god what the heck do kids eat? Burgers right?"
Naeva could only look up at the distressed woman as she continued to mumble about children activities and food which no child of her age could consume. The feeling that crept over Naeva was only something she could describe as impending doom and that was something she didn't like. The tears that rolled down her cheeks were not just for the loss of her family, especially Rebecca, but the awful thought that she would starve under the care of this woman and would have had a better chance left on her own at the HQ. But she couldn't ponder on her thoughts as the sunlight hit her and the chilly autumn wind swirled round her face as they reached the car.
Matisha could sense that Naeva, although the crying could have given it away, was extremely upset about the outcome and looking down she smiled, resting her free hand on the top of Naeva's head.
"Don't worry dear, I'll do some of my Hocus-Pocus tonight and we'll get this all sorted. Don't you fret you will be safe with me, I promise."
And although Naeva felt her words more than she understood them her tears continued but softer as she wept for her guilt, her loss and her future.

First Day in a New Home
The car trip home was a long and noisy experience with Naeva tightly secured in the front passenger seat in her blue buggy. She made little effort to behave herself on the journey to her new home, wailing and screaming with every mile that distanced them from the Legend HQ. Matisha knew best not to try and calm the child, she had every right to be upset about what was happening; she realised that for the next few hours things were going to be tough for the both of them.
Arriving to Matisha's crumbling but homely abode she unbuckled Naeva from the car seat and hosted the child towards the front door, the buggy banging into her leg as she struggled with the additional weight of the baby and her suitcase.
"Must be an easier way to do this, you build up some strength being a mother I suppose."
Naeva was a little more than distracted with the house she was approaching, this building could have been a candidate for destruction yet it was lived in against all odds. How could someone live in such a death trap? Surely it would be terrible to live in when winter came around, or a storm? Now Naeva realised that shelter was a much needed survival tool, but one that could fall atop of you at any time was little safer than being under a tree knee deep in snow.
A whine escaped her lips as Matisha dropped the suitcase in exchange to search through her pockets for house keys. "What's up Naeva?" Matisha mumbled as she pushed sweet wrappers and pens aside in her pocket. The lack of crying from Naeva told Matisha that she wanted to say something else; maybe she didn't like the look of her temporary home?
"It's much sturdier than it seems, I promise. When you're older I will...well...if you stay that long that is. I will explain why this old pile of bricks hasn't fallen apart years ago. A bit of a long story and something you might not believe in, but there is magic afoot. You needn't worry about it."
Matisha knew that Naeva wouldn't understand anything she said, or maybe she was wrong. Naeva stared back so inquisitively when Matisha spoke that she could only imagine that she was taking in all that she said.
"Well lets not stay in this cold for too long, I want to introduce you to the mob, there not as scary as they look...well...Lust is but that’s a different matter entirely."
Matisha smiled down at Naeva as she realised she was speaking to the baby as if she was listening. "Proof that I need a boyfriend" Matisha said shifting a laugh as she pushed open the door to receive the heated hallways that awaited her.
********************************
Amanda had spent the day looking after the two Angeni, Lust and Delano, a pair of troublesome beings that were more mayhem than anything else. Matisha had taken them in, or more correctly saved them when she was on a trip to an enchanted forest for an article on ' Dismissing Magical trees: Forests soon to be gone." or so she remembered as Amanda rarely bought the magazine Matisha worked for. She had no interest in the dark arts as she called them. It was strange that she had made friends with Matisha at all knowing what she is and who she knows. Yet this didn't stop their friendship blooming and Amanda had seen past the magic and potions and took Matisha as she was, a stressed out but loyal companion.
Matisha had more animals, magical beings and pets around the house but they seemed to take care of themselves. The two Angeni were the only ones that were young enough to need a watchful eye over them. Matisha owned two Equu, horses called Pestilence and Nostalgic which Amanda feared terribly yet she didn't get to see them a lot as they lived in their own territory. There was also Fate, a mousey Kin, Theo, who Amanda liked, she was a mechanical doll yet she had her own mind and didn't need programming. There were also a few fairies, but she only knew a few as Aries, Kali and Wednesday. Pandora was a Manna, a creature which looked like a cat and fox combined but bigger which Amanda had taken a liking too, she was often found sitting upon Matisha's lap when she was working on her articles. And finally there was Hibiscus a plant like creature that spent most of its time in the green house to the back of the house, she rarely saw him yet Matisha often spoke to him about leaves and herbs she needed for potions.
At this current moment in time Amanda stood stirring the cake mixture that Delano had demanded she make, knowing best not to cause a fuss when Matisha wasn't here she had decided to whip up a batch of cupcakes for them. Having sent the two evil pair off into the study to mess with Matisha's computer, something she may regret later when they realise half her files are missing, Amanda welcomed the peace and quiet. Not taking in the fact that she heard the familiar sound of the key scratching at the door, she didn't look round as Matisha walked into the kitchen.
"Good afternoon Mattie, your back early aren't you? Did the interview go well? Did it happen at all?" Amanda said around a finger full of cake mix which she stole from the edge of the bowl.
Matisha grinned as she looked at the back of her friend, laughing as she placed Naeva on top of the table so she could unbuckle the baby from the buggy.
"Oh well it didn't go as I had hoped, no-one was there to interview as normal, I was going to ring up Maria to cancel the whole article when I was disturbed by something. A huge dirty great big three headed monster ripped through the walls of the HQ and ate both my legs...yep big old thing it was."
"Oh yeah...aha...you think I could put raisins in this mix? A bit of healthy eating for those two?"
Completely oblivious to what Matisha had said Amanda continued to stir at the mix grabbing the fruit from the cupboard as her friend continued to laugh as she picked up Naeva from the buggy to show to Amanda.
"Oh come on Amanda are you not a least bit interested in my day? Wanna see the love child I made with the monster." Matisha stated, laughing as she tried to get her friend to turn around with the absurd story.
"What are you talk-king...Oh my god Matisha, you stole a baby!?"
Amanda turned around to be greeted with the tearful child who stared back at the curly haired woman, dropping the raisins as she looked upon the baby. Naeva although amused by the current situation wasn't enjoying being held by Matisha as she didn't think she had to right to pick her up, especially as she was still considered a stranger and another tearful parade sprung into action as Naeva started to cry once again.
"I didn't steal her Amanda, I found her at the HQ she had been left on her own, I couldn't just leave her there. And I left my name and number someone will ring to claim her...I hope it's soon she's starting to burst my ear drums. " Matisha said with a grimace as she pooped Naeva back into her buggy.
"I can't keep her in there all the time I need a cot or something, but a child hasn't passed through these doors since my grandmother lived here. Do you have anything?"
Amanda shook her head; she was still momentarily shocked at the appearance of a child but soon gained her composer.
"Sadly not, am an only child and the cots and toys were soon given away. You might have to go to the shops, pick up so nappies and that."
"Oh... I have some of those-" Matisha mumbled as she brought out the bag with all the possessions Naeva was left with "- in this bag I found with her...you got to be joking if am changing her, she'll bite my arm off."
"Don't be silly Matisha!" Amanda giggled as she pushed Matisha playfully away from the child, taking command of the situation was what she did best.
"Come here then sweetie; let's get you out of the coat." Amanda pulled the coat that was fastened around Naeva, giving the little girl more chance to get comfy. Picking her up she walked into the living room, a cosy place with a roaring fire at one end and two huge sofas' that could swallow a person up. Sitting Naeva down on the soft Rug that had placed between the settees to cover the laminated flooring, Amanda kneeled down beside her.
"She is quite an adorable baby when she isn't crying."
Amanda stated as she gave Matisha a look over her shoulder and Matisha couldn't agree more. The little girl was sniffling now, her eyes red and puffy and a thin steam of light flowed from her nose over her mouth as she looked around the room. She seemed to be mumbling, whimpering even as she weighed up her surroundings, not quite sure what to make of things. But even though the lines of tears covered her face, Naeva was a very pretty baby, like all children at this age with a chubby face and bright, yet grey eyes she was the image of adorable, it was a shame to see her covered in snot trails and wet, ratted hair from crying too much.
Matisha smiled as she kneeled down beside Amanda to get more of a look as she tried to think who Naeva looked like, racking her brain to match her up with someone she had seen at the Legend HQ. Reddy-brown hair covered her head with a striking white streak growing from her roots to fall in line with her fringe. Matisha knew of people that had, had all their hair turn white from shock and a pang of worry struck her with the thought that Naeva had gone though something like that. Yet she shook that feeling away, she couldn't get emotionally attached to a child that she didn't know.
"I'll get Theo to run down to the shops and pick up a cot and things, buy her some more toys. I have 4 bottles of baby food, but I want to get some more just in case she stays longer than a day or so. Who ever comes and picks her up better pay me back, she's gonna cost me an arm and leg at this rate." Matisha said shaking her head as she looked at Naeva. The little girl seemed to imitate her just for a moment before new tears erupted.
"We better get her cleaned up, would you do the honours Amanda? I need to set up Theo and give her some money for the things we need. I'll make up a bottle and some food and see if she settles down."
Amanda nodded and picked Naeva up once more wiping the hair and snot of her face which Matisha grimaced at as she watched them go upstairs.
"Eww, gross...hmm...oh ha-ha..." Matisha picked up a toy that had fallen out of the bag and had kicked without notice, a purple octopus that reminded her of something she once had.
Stroking the top of it she walked back into the kitchen to place the buggy into the closet and into the study where Theo was resting. The mechanical doll had wires swirling out of its back into the wall where it 'charged up' and Matisha clicked a button on the side of its face, grinning as the machine awoke.
"Theo we have a guest to look after and I want her to have the best time possible. She reminds me of myself so much, a mopey little creature and I want her to enjoy her time here. Would you do me a favour and pick some things up? I have this terrible feeling though that she's going to be staying for a while..."

Diary Entry: Are feeding times essential? Dear Diary
Well I guess in my life Diary there is always room for change, take for example you, I have had loads of unfinished diaries, if a diary can ever be unfinished that is. I brought you four days ago thinking that with you, I could write down everything that I may or may not be doing right in my life. How my work is going, my love life, unfortunately those things do not seem so important anymore, not in the least. Two days ago I came across one of the most important things that has every crossed my path, in the form of a small child. Her name is Naeva and despite all my worries I believe she will be staying in my life. I found her at my last job, at a place for gifted children called the Legend HQ. I know little about it to my dismay and of course that was what the article was about, finding information so I could write up a good peice about gifted children in Gaia. Now its going to be about the lack of working elves, the upcoming season of Christmas is upon us and sadly many elves (northern elves that is) are out of work due to new toy making machinery. I will be taking a trip up north in a few weeks, very exciting business.
But am getting of the subject at hand, Naeva is a very special child that much I can work out on my own. What I can't work out is why she was abandoned, even though a note explains a reasonable reason I suppose, I could never give up a child so willingly. Yet sadly I can see some features about Naeva I would like to get rid off. For one Naeva hasn't not stopped crying for the past two day! The amount of sleep I have gained amounts to zero and it doesn't seem to be getting much better! I know the child has been whipped away from her original guardian and other family members but she doesnt have to make sure I know about it! Sometimes though she isn't that bad I have seen her with Amanda sometimes, I can tell Naeva is uncertain of her, not sure whether to like her or not. Amanda is such a caring soul it's hard not to like her though, even if she has some funny views. But Naeva and me? Well that's a different story entirely! I don't think she likes me that much, maybe because she thinks that am the one who took her way from her home or something, I don't know. But I can't pick her up with out my ears ringing or hair being pulled out! Even Theo, my mechanical doll is having problems with her and I had to replace her wig today due to the amount f hair loss! Feeding times are the worse, I tried feeding her the supposedly 'favourite flavours' that where left with her and it the word 'difficult' is too inaccurate. The little devil, when accepting the food, would spit it out like poison and then, if she was quick enough, would grab the bowl and spoon and well you can only guess what happened next.
Oh well I don't really know what to do, I guess I could ask for higher help, I think it would be the best option in this situation. But it takes so much out of me, I doubt that I could manage a session with any deities...but I need to know what to do with the child. If she is destined to become apart of my family or if she is needed somewhere else.
...at least I get to go shopping if she stays! I can't wait!!
Love Matty xx

Sharing the Troubles
Key: Matisha: Purple Huni:Lightsalmon Paestri: HotpinkHuni wheeled the pink-and-white stroller into the HQ, grinning from ear to ear. Word travels fast, but Huni wanted to confirm if the rumors were really true. "Hey Pae, do you still have it with you?" the red head asked as she peered at Paestri. Paestri cooed, her arms wrapped around a paper bag.Running a hand though her ragged unwashed hair Matisha ran up the steps to the familiar double doors of the Legend HQ. Having been here many times before as a reporter this was her seconded time as a stressed out woman. It had been little over two days since Naeva had come into her life, a life that was fairly stable and organised. Throwing a child into the equation had made Matisha a little more than panic and the support of the HQ was greatly needed. Leaving Naeva sleeping at her home in the aid of her trusted Maniacal doll Theo, Matisha had hoped she would find somebody to explain this sudden event, someone to tell her it was all going to be ok. Pushing the doors open and walking inside she was greeted with the familiar face of Huni, someone who she had grown quite fond of in past meetings and considered a good friend.
"Oh thank god you here Huni, am at my wits end and that isn't good when you haven't had any sleep for the past two days!" Matisha stated as she held her head in her hands the bags under her eyes explaining her current condition than words Huni's initial reaction to hearing the doors open was to look back and smile at whoever arrived. She was delighted to see it was Matisha, though the delight turned to concern after listening to her friend speak.
"Come on, let's sit down for a minute," the red head suggested as she led Matisha to the sofas while pushing the stroller at the same time.
Paestri heard the familiar voice of Auntie Matisha and instantly gurgled, trying to draw her attention. She cuddled the paper bag a bit, crinkling the packaging paper in the process.Following Huni's lead towards the sofa Matisha threw herself back onto the soft furnishings and a sigh of despair escaped her lips.
"Its has just been one thing after the other, am not sure if you know much about it, but the other day while visiting the HQ I came upon a small child. I can only barely remember if I had seen her before in another's arms but none the less she had been left with all but a note to her name. Err the note said something about the child being too dangerous, having hurt another child I think...I should have brought it with me."
Matisha said as she stuffed a hand into the handbag she was carrying, trying to find the tattered note that was found with the child.
"I guess I should have left her here, but I couldn't. Something inside me told me that I should take her home; at least for a little while till her mother came back for her, I even left a note saying my name and address but to no avail. I just don't know what to do...she is a beautiful child but she hasn't stop screaming bloody murder since I took her home!"Huni nodded as she listened to Matisha's story, "I think you did the right thing, taking the baby home with you. I would have done the same thing, and who knows how long it would have taken before anyone else arrived to care for the baby. Have you tried feeding her or bathing her? Maybe it's a case of separation anxiety, I read that in some magazine."
Paestri cooed at Matisha, wondering why she wasn't her usual happy self. Or why she wasn't spoiling her with candy like the last time.Matisha nodded slowly as she thought back on the attempted feeding and the struggle to get Naeva asleep. In the end the small legend had cried herself into a restless coma only to wake again at 3am to the horror of Matisha.
"Yes maybe your right am not sure how old she is but she's no newborn, she must have a bond with someone and that has been snatched away from her. But I've had no phone call in the two days, I wonder if anyone is looking for her."
Matisha sighed once again, tired more than anything else. She wasn't upset to receive a child into her care even if she was a tad unwilling. It just she couldn't find any middle ground with the child, being so young and having little information she couldn't explain to Naeva the reason for her abandonment. Shifting a smile Matisha waved at Paestri and the bag she held.
"What have you got their Pae?""Hmmm, that does sound troubling. If you need any help, I'm available. Linny's used to watching the shop and Ning has been extremely helpful," she offered. Huni had never encountered a child that had been abandoned willingly, but she was sure there was a reason for everything. But right now, it was obvious to Huni Matisha needed some rest.
Paestri gurgled, finally she was noticed! She tried her best to lift the parcel but only succeeded in tipping it over and the content of the paper bag fell onto the floor. Matisha smiled up at Huni as she offered her help to the worn out witch. Although Theo was quite capable of looking after Naeva while she was gone even the mechanical doll had its limits.
"You won't believe how much I would appreciate that, I mean I can survive for another few days at least, but after that if she doesn't calm down am going to start screaming too. You can always come round -"
Matisha pulled out a small notepad from her bag and scribbled her address down for Huni, handing it over as she pointed to the words.
"- there, that's my address, come round when ever you want, bring Paestri maybe the relaxed atmosphere your little girl brings with her will settle Naeva's nerves."
Matisha finished her sentence only to be distracted with something hitting her foot; a small squeezable doll in the look of a very familiar child came to rest beside her.
"Oh my...what's this?" Matisha said as she leant over to pick up the item, braking out in her first real smile in days.
"Wow news certainly travels fast, how adorable Huni did you...or did Paestri make this?" "I just heard stuff, wasn't really sure if they were true. And Paestri's the one who made it, she loves making these things. I tried to make one, and... well... let's just say it made Frankenstein look like Johnny Depp," Huni chuckled sheepishly. She carefully tucked the piece of paper into her pocket for safe keeping. Unless she forgets and ends up washing the note with her pants.
"I'll drop in on you, and I'll definately bring Paestri."
Paestri beamed at the smile on her god aunt's face. She liked seeing people smile, it was much better than being glared at.Matisha grinned from ear to ear as she placed the toy in her bag, maybe the gift will cheer Naeva up nothing else had worked.
"Well I maybe relaying on you for a little bit, you have more experience with a legend child. Even though I have already worked out that she is special I don't know what I can and can't do with her. You know like superman and kryptonite, I don't want to have her melt on me or anything."
Matisha said with a smile as she beamed at Huni and Paestri. Catching the shine of her watch she almost gasped aloud as she read the time.
"Oh god am going to have to go back home, if Naeva has woken up Theo will kill me when I get back in. That child has a tendency to pull at things and Theo and I have already lost some hair!"
Matisha stated as she grabbed her bag, leaning over to give Huni a farewell and thank you hug.
"I'll see you around Huni; drop in when ever you want I will make it up to you I promise. And goodbye Pae, thank you for the beautiful gift."
Matisha patted Paestri's head affectionately as she passed the two, heading towards the door. "Wish me luck!" She shouted with a grin as she pushed the heavy doors open to return back to the nightmare.Huni waved and punched a fist into the air, "You can do it!" she called out.
Paestri clapped her hands and tried to imitate Huni, though her hand wasn't in a fist.
"Well, looks like we have somewhere to go soon. It's gonna be an adventure, like when we went to Isle de Gambino."
And with that, Huni wheeled themselves home.

The Truth doesnt always have to be the right path...
Key: Matisha : Purple Enki: Dark Blue Maa't: Dark red
Nights come so fast in the winter months, one moment theres a sunset full of golden yellows and intense oranges, dreamy purples and blues swirling around the light as it disappears below the horizon, an end to a short day. And suddenly the darkness is there once again, as if the sun never happened, the moon is in its element as it shines down upon the earth. This night wasn't any different; the moon grew in the sky as its full face beamed across the skyline as Matisha stared back up to view its intense power.
As a witch the moon was an important part of her life, the spells in which she casts were based upon the moon phrases. Certain spells or potions couldn't be used if the timing wasn't right as well as its success rate in working. Tonight had to be perfect to get the effect Matisha wanted it to have. Vary rarely will the Deities talk to an earth dweller let alone if she or he hasn't done the preparations properly. Deities are from another worlds and lifetimes, thousands of years old yet in retrospect they are also very young. There are many levels of deities, just like a job over many years deities may be promoted to a higher level of power taking on more responsibility. This could entail answering more prayers or in this case being called upon for aid by rituals and spells.
Matisha was calling upon two lower form Deities, they would know the answers to her questions without using up all of her strength. Rituals were very draining, even for experienced witches or magical fuser's. The first deities was called Maa't and the other Enki, two deities that had been selected from two different religions so Matisha could see and learn her answers from two different points of view. Both were gods in the earth realm for wisdom and truth, two subjects that Matisha needed.
Blinking back the water that gathered in her eyes from staring at the moon, Matisha looked over at the phone and sighed. Many phone calls but not the one she wanted to receive, no one had inquired about Naeva. There was a quick phone call from the reception desk at the Legend HQ, just confirming the were-about of abandoned child and then asking details about Matisha, address, job etc.
But not one word from her old guardian.
Matisha knew that one day her old guardian will show up, and Matisha could finally talk to her, talk about Naeva and her future. But until then Matisha had to find out Naeva's path, was it to be with her, Matisha as a guardian? Or did she have another purpose, was she meant to be found by someone else?
Turning her back on the window Matisha walked towards the door, the light from the hallway seeping though the gap as she closed it shut. This room was off bounds to everyone except for herself. This room was used for her rituals, it had been chosen long ago for its position in alignment with the elements as well as the best location to see the moon. There was also some other factors, the room didnt have drafts for one thing and before Matisha moved in, this house belonged to a very old relative, an aunt to be exact, this room was perfect for an old dear like her.
Memories aside Matisha continued about her way, grabbing things of shelves, opening boxes and huge wooden chests that contained a number of books and items to be used in the ritual. Taking a bottle full of what looked like salt Matisha began to pour it in a circular motion, then continued to draw a five pointed star in the middle, a pentagram. Not all rituals have to start with a base of a pentagram, there are many symbols that hold great power and this can be used in a number of different ways. The pentagram is an age old favourite, it is the foremost known symbol by nearly everyone and the magic it holds can be un-estimated by human equations. Matisha knew better than to start messing around with new ways of magic, and instead opted for the quick and easy solution, if anything it was one step closer to getting her life back on track.
Placing the candles and tools in there desired locations Matisha placed a large athame at the entrance to her circle; this would protect her from any evil forces that were likely to find her. Any magic no matter how small sent beacons out to anyone that could sense it, from good beings and of course evil. Although in the magic realms Good and Evil were just words used by humans to sum up morals and social rules that were either followed or banished. In reality, even reality held by magic, there are more levels to good and evil, in one sense it is many shades of grey.
Sweeping her hands up over her head she stood tall in the centre of the pentagram, cupping her hands up to the ceiling she envisioned pure light rushing down and flowing all around her. Bringing her arms back down she rested them over her chest in a cross like manner, holding the light to her body. Kneeling down in front of small but decorative table that held all her tools Matisha grabbed another athame and placed her free hand over a silver bowl. Running the blade along her palm she slit a deep cut down her hand and let the blood run freely into the container. Wincing slightly Matisha returned her gaze to the window, the moon shining down like a eye watching her every move as she began to chant words that were unrecognisable by untrained ears.
Watching the room becoming darker Matisha could feel the pull from within, the need for energy to keep the rital going was being taken from her, her life force was being drained. She could do nothing to alter this, in fact the more energy taken a better chance that the interview with the gods would be longer and her questions fully answered. "Oh Mat keeper of truth and justice, daughter of Ra and forger of cosmic harmony hear my call and answer my plea.
Enki god of wisdom and magic, the keeper of the me and the divine laws, hear my call and answer my plea."
….
…..
Nothing….
Nothing happened, no bolt of lightening or explosion, booming voice or a great spiritual being throwing magic this way and that, nothing happened….if that’s what you classified as an acceptable entrance for Gods. Little by little something started to appear, like tuning in a TV channel the form of two beings began to form out of the very air, Matisha watched intensely as the pin pricks upon her skin became more apparent as the forms grew stronger, her excitement caught her breath as she tried to steady herself against what was happening. Soon enough, like it was the simplest act in the world, sat the fading out lines of two bodies, a woman and a man. They were just covered with simple clothes from the era they ruled, toga type dresses of musty brown and cream, nothing fancy like the pictures of old show; no jewellery adorned them, just them and their robes. And through this they were magnificent, beautiful in their simplicity, their wisdom, power and spirits surged out of everything that they were and it made them Gods, truly everything you would expect and more, with nothing else than their clothes and bodies. Matisha sat in awe staring at the two spirits before remembering her manners and bowing low to the ground, heaving in and out as she tried to regain her breath and gather up the engery that she had lost.
“Thank you, thank you for hearing my plea.”
The two deities nodded in acceptance, the goddess Maa’t sat cross legged with her hands placed gentle over her chest and Enki smiled calmly as he rested his hands on his knees. They looked beyond where Matisha was sat; this wasn’t out of rudeness but the fact that they couldn’t see her, only the aura that surrounded her being. Gods and higher class deities can’t see earth bound creatures, not because they are blind or ignorant, but because they had to be un-bias to all that asked for their help. Even gods and goddess tend to lean towards those that worship them or who are pleasing to the eye, but it’s against the laws to chose who they help, everyone was equal and should be treated so.
“What is it that you ask of us mortal” Enki mumbled as he placed one hand palm up in Matisha direction, his less than ‘pleased to be here’ tone set Matisha mumbling herself, she knew she didn’t have that much time and the gods where getting bored by the second.
“I am in need of answers, questions have arisen in the past few weeks concerning a young child, her name is Naeva. I need to know if it was right to take her home with me, to accept her as a permanent family member. Or have I stood in the way of another’s path? Was I meant to find her.....and…what is it that I am meant to do?”
Maa’t seemed to mule over this question as she unfolded her arms, a brief but unmistakable glance towards Enki’s direction set Matisha pondering. Normally Gods tried to keep their distance from other working Deities when asked a question. They couldn’t discuss a mortals plea between themselves they had to give their full honest answer about the subject without being swayed by another God.
“We will try our best witch.” Enki spoke, his voice sending volts of fear and excitement though Matisha’s head as the thought of finally understanding Naeva’s destiny would come to light.
The duo sat still, eyes closed concentrating as they searched though pages of history and unwritten futures. It seemed like hours until Maa’t opened her eyes again, the sharp blue colour of her orbs glittering like diamonds as she looked upon Matisha. Unclenching her palm she opened it outwards towards the witch, as if asking for a something in return for their services, before they told her of their secrets. Matisha knowing what they wanted leaned forward awkwardly on one palm as she dropped something into the illusion that was the Goddess. It was a vial, a crimson coloured vial with liquid that reflected the same colour, a mini tornado was spinning silently inside it, as if its twirling madness would set it free against the confounds of its prison.
“We shall accept your offering Mortal.” The older God grumbled as he began to mutter an incarnation, his hands firmly clenched together as he spoke the words of magic, a swirling mass of cloud formed between the trios as Matisha watched the scene unfold. Before her was Naeva, her small young self sleeping peacefully as the Gods looked down upon it.
“Her past is surrounded in dark clouds, she is fragmented and broken, her life has been pieced back together.” Spoke Maa’t as if stuck by a trace that kept her staring at the form before her.
“She has a mark upon her soul, a mark that will remain with her for all her days, she is cursed.” Snarled Enki as his anger became fiercer with every fact that passed down.
“Fire has a strong unforgiving nature; her life shall always be ruled by the Mars God.”
"I see death, she smells of rotting flesh, her body is nothing more than dirt now, her hair is all but ash. She deserved her punishment...She shouldn't have been allowed back"
“I see shadows, her shadows, others, she has gathered many in her life time, she was punished for this, and she shall always be punished for this, she needs to be cleansed.” Maa’t seemed to convulse with fear as if watching something Matisha could not see. Her hands gripped the floor, carving deep grooves with un-solid fingers as she stared down towards the twisting picture of Naeva.
“Her soul is stained; the mortals saw to that, the fire is unforgiving. It will forever burn her, her soul is not her own any more. She is cursed!” Enki lashed a clawed hand towards the image as if fighting something away, his alarming displeasure over these new facts drove powerful storm clouds to appear around the room, tempest rain clouds covered the ceiling as the wind picked up in the tiny space. Something was happening to the cloud that formed Naeva, Matisha couldn’t make it out as she struggled to see the image as it began to distort sharply, black smoke crept among the edges like dark hands dragging Naeva inwards and Matisha wanted it to end.
“STOP IT! She is not cursed, she is a baby, her life has not seen many moons, she can’t have gathered that many enemies!"
"She is cursed mortal, it has only been a blessing that you found her first, her past is shadowed by something far more powerful than us. We can not see it, only images of facts that have yet to come. Be thankful she did not fall into bewitched hands." Maa't tried to take her eyes of floating Naeva, she seemed to be stuck in a trance that captured her frame, only her words where free as her body was held fast by the ethereal performance acting out before her.
Matisha had grown tired of the Gods not giving her a straight answer, with every second that passed she felt her engery growing weaker and soon the circle would close on her. Matisha though was not one for sensible thoughts, her anger over this ritual took the better of her as she began to scream back at the Dieties. The circle was doomed from this point, her emotions where an unstable, unwanted substance and the circle would close with this element thrown in destroying the balance that kept it open.
"SHUT UP! Talk sense you stupid Gods, I didn’t want those answers, tell me if her path is with mine!I need to know if am the one that can help her! STOP MESSING ME ABOUT!”
Enki screamed with rage at this defiance, his time was being wasted but upon a mortal that didn’t know the consequences of her actions. Twisting up a palmed hand Enki gripped Matisha to the floor with an invisible force. Maa’t was stunned, her eyes never lifting from the image before her of the warping Naeva as she allowed the second God to lose his temper.
“Ignorant Mortal! You called upon us for answers for a subject that has been cursed years before your time on this earthy plane, do not speak to us about answers! Tell me why you would ask us to merge with its path, we shall be stained also! She is a Daemon! A Daemon!
Matisha struggled against the energy the God created; pulling herself back onto her feet Matisha crossed her arms over her face as she shouted back words indescribable to pronounce by mortal means. The Enki God looked winded for a second as Matisha’s words took effect but nothing powerful to stop the deity in his tracks. Enki roared with rage as he swiped another clenched paw towards Matisha sending her flying towards the wall.
Momentarily knocked out Matisha slumped against the door way, her head bleeding from the impact that the god had forced her upon. Enki was in no hurry to check if she was ok as he shrieked against the image that was Naeva creating powerful shock waves that pounced around the room causing havoc with everything it touched, bottles, charms, books, all where hit with this spell until they collapsed under the stain of the magic. Breathing heavy the Gods took one last look upon the image that had caused them so much trouble in so little time, they knew something had to be done about the situation, but how it was to be done was the question. Matisha watched though hazy eyes until the two images of the deities began to fade out into the background, the magic that made up Naeva finally turned black and a last twisted convulsion shook the mass before falling to the floor to leave a dark stain upon the woodwork.
The witch lay down, falling back into unconscious her body was sapped of all its energy. The deep gash upon her forehead showing no sign of healing as she tried to make sense off all that had just happened. Her questions still unfulfilled, her head forming more as she thought about the young child that slept meters away. All she knew was that now the young legend that seemed so harmless was affecting more people than she thought, it didn’t matter if her path wasn’t meant for Matisha to step on; it was road that many would have to travel.

Diary Entry: What I wasnt expecting. Dear Diary
Last night I performed a ritual so I could finally understand where Naeva's path was leading. I never wanted a child, never had any predictions and there were no clues. The only thing I can think of is the dream of fire I had, but Naeva doesn't even resemble someone who was burnt, now or in the past. Yes she stays clear away from the open faced fire I have in my main living room, but then again I keep her away from it.
Plus the place with the biggest fire is my work room, but it's full of my work load, books, and papers, a general mess! Knowing Naeva as I do now, I know she hates mess of any sort. I can see her getting angry about it, so she stays well clear. But...I guess that doesn't prove that she's ok with fire...maybe I should have a little test, but I don't want to traumatize the poor dear, god she hates me enough all ready I don't want to make it worse! But its nearing Christmas, I may put it off till next year; this should be a happy time, not a time for setting my children on light!
But on another note, the ritual wasn't what I was expecting. Not only did the Deities not answer my question, but they seemed to be horrified at the idea. It was like they couldn't even see her path, or maybe there was something blocking their way. They mumbled something about dark magic and ended up in their own little worlds, chatting away without even looking back at me! They said something like: "She shouldn't have been allowed back" and "Theres still a shadow over her, she must be cleansed." By this time I was getting pretty tired of waiting around, I had spent the best part of ALL my energy making this ritual work and then they decided to have a little chat among themselves! I don't think so!
So yes maybe screaming at them to give me a straight answer wasn't the best plan, having channelled that energy into being so angry I upset the balance in the circle and well you guessed it, it closed on me. Gods and all, I was left with little or no answers...but I do know one thing, Naeva does belong here.
They never denied her path with me, then even said it was a good thing that I found her, that a more 'evil' thing may have claimed her again (dam cheek calling me evil). I don't know what that means, she's not evil in any sort of the sense, sure she can be a grumpy little miss when she wants to be, but she's never done anything bad...from what I know...Anyway! That kid down the street, Marvin I think his name is, I had to rescue one of my cats from him once. Little bugger was trying to tape soldiers to its back....I should have stolen that bike of his...anyway, yes; Naeva would never do anything like that. She even likes cats; I've seen her stare at them and pet them if they go anywhere near her that is. But my moggeys are not use to her yet, I may get her a new cat when she's a bit older...yeah...that would be a nice birthday present...wow.
Wow I never thought of that, I can start planning things for her, birthdays, Christmas presents, schools wow....I need to sit down and think about this. She's no longer a guest at this house...she apart of the family.....oh god I think am gonna need a drink...
Love Matty xx
