"Cale!" Chris grit his teeth as Cale was flung around, boots digging into the sand under them to keep from moving. How un-Rocket like. he thought ruefully. Perhaps the higher-ups were correct in keeping them from brute battles if he was going to be even this bit worried rather than ruthless in his fights.
Chris let Dust retreat further, giving Cale time to re-group from the attack. Despite the dragging battle Cale hadnt lost the fighting glint from his eyes. Chris grinned at that.
Letting the gyarados move just a bit farther Chris flung his arm out "Cale! Rapid spin!"
Grwoling lowly Cale leapt, withdrawing to his shell and span quickly towards Dust, just a brown blurr. He hit Dust dead on, bouncing back from the force to spin gently a few feet away.

Vivian growled as Dust was hit again. "Dust, regain yourself! Then turn and use Water Pulse!"
Dust responded accordingly, shaking the pain off and opening his gaping jaws to release various pulsing blasts of water. They all hit the squirtle squarely.
Vivian thought to herself. One screw up from Chris, and we have this... if not, Me and dust will have our first defeat...

Chris was silent as Cale was hit with a barage of water, each pulse pushing the squirtle back further along the sand until Cale stood just to the side of himself. Their eyes met for the breifest of moments, Chris brows down turning at the glow radiating from Cale. Certainly Dusts attack didnt have that sort of side effect.
Cale seemed to smirk a bit before the glow engulfed him and Chris down-turned brows shot up to his hair line as the dots connected for him. Cale had never before shown any intrest in evolving, despite being over the required level.
A bit awed, Chris watched as Cales tail extended, limbs grew and shell expanded before the glow slowly dissipated, leaving a rather feirce wartortle in it's place. He paused a beat, not quite sure if Cale was still the same old Cale; stories of pokemons personalities doing a 180 after evolution flitting through his head.
Cale turned to Chris, fighting expression plain to see.
Chris smirked. "Lets finish this. Cale! Bubblebeam!"
Gripping the sand hard Cale sucked in a breath before releasing a spray of bubbles, each one hitting their mark with an explosive 'pop' and flash.

Vivian gasped as the little Squirtle morphed into the bigger Wartortle. Her knee's felt weak as the barrage of bubble hit her precious companion, her bestest friend.
Dust let out a agonizing roar and fell to the ground. Vivian clutched her PokeBall and ran to her partner's side, a few stray tears falling down her cheek, she then stood up and silently allowed the red flash of the Pokeball consume her precious Dust.
"Congratulations, twofold." She looked at the new wartortle was a look of bewilderment, just as she had stared at Dust so long ago....

Chris, for his part, couldnt keep the grin from his face as the gyarados fell and withdrawn into it's pokeball. Flipping his hat off Chris ran a gloved hand through his hair, ruffling the raspberry colored mohawk back to it's normal scruffyness. Flopping the hat back on Cales head his grin widened; Cales now winged ears holding the hat out of his eyes, where as when he was a squirtle the hat tipped down to blind the pokemon.
Cale smirked up at Chris, more than satified to have put Dust in his place. How dare the worm of even bared its teeth towards his Chris?
"It was a good battle. It looks like Cale and I need to do more training before we take on anyone else though." Cale snorted, telling Chris just what he thought of that.
Reaching into his belt Chris walked to Vivian, Cale close on his heals. Holding out his hand, a revive pinched between two fingers. "Now, now, no need to cry" Chris grinned disarmingly. "Revive?"

Vivian wiped the tears from her face. "This feeling of sadness, it's all quite new to me, we've never lost..." She shook her head. "But a good battle none the less. We'll need some more training too."
She took the offered Revive. "Thanks, I'll put it to use once I'm back home." She stored the revive in her pocket and gripped the pokeball firmly in her hand. She offered her other hand to Chris. "I want a re-match, sometime in the future though."
