Aubrey's smile was soft and affectionate. "Well now. I think you dancing would distract the customers from my food." He patted her hand, the basket settled in the crook of his arm. "You'd probably get more customers that the food too." He added with a chuckle. "That'd be a wonderful duo though. Dinner and a show. That means you'll be getting over your nervousness then? You seemed fearful when I suprised you earlier..."

"Oh, stop it." Irissë looked away, still blushing, "You're embarrassing me." she was very glad for his company, "I'm sure the customers would enjoy your food more." tucking a stray strand of her behind her ear, she said softly, "I'm very shy...I still have to work on being more outgoing...it's going to take a while too."

Aubrey chuckled and then nodded. "You're welcome to practice in front of me. I don't know much about dancing, but it'd probably help you anyway." He smiled, giving her hand a slight squeeze. "You know what? I don't think you necessarily need to be completely outgoing to dance for others. It's not like you're dancing with them. You mainly need to be confident in yourself and love what you do. A bit of small talk here and there, then you'll soon become more comfortable and it will be almost natural." He chuckled again. "And just by offering, I can tell you love to dance. So step one is complete!" He said encouragingly.

Irissë couldn't help but giggle, face still pink, "Do you really think so Aubrey? It's so...nervewracking for me to go in front of others and do something..." she sighed, "I had a hard time doing things in front of my family members as well..." the cervitaur looked up at him, "But I do hope your right. I just have to gain confidence in myself."

Aubrey nodded. "That's kind of what I did when learning to bake. I wanted to bake, but was so nervous about making it for others, so my mother sat down and made me cook in front of her, and sometimes my sisters. I ate a lot of burned food for dinner during that time. As it went on, I got more relaxed, and realized that I was enjoying it. When I did well, it was like showing off. Then instead of worrying about doing bad, I strove to do well. And I did."

Irissë looked shocked, "But that's bad for your health! Eating burnt food! You could get sick!" she looked at him worriedly, "There isn't anything wrong with your body is there...?" shaking her head, "Oh what am I talking about? Of course you're well. I apologize if I seemed so overbearing..."
"I guess I'll have to try that too." she smiled, "You're full of great advice."

Aubrey laughed. "Well, we didn't know better back then. They were just driving the lesson home." His eyes warmed at her concern. "No. As far as I know, my body is fit as a fiddle, as my father used to say. I do appreciate your concern though. It makes me feel that we are truly becoming friends." He blushed modestly. "Thank goodness for parents then. I learned most everything from them."

"Of course we're friends!" she beamed at him, "I don't see why anyone wouldn't want to be your friend. You're very nice and caring." her ears perked up, hooves stepping on the ground lightly and gracefully. "Parents are very important." she nodded, "They help us grow into proper people."

Despite Irisse's lovely smile, Aubrey turned his head away to hide the hurt frown that he couldn't hold back. There was a whole town of centaurs somewhere who didn't want him as their friend... He nodded when he had control again. "Yes, they do. As long as they're good parents though. Not everyone is fit for the job... I was lucky that my parents were who they were."

Oh dear. Did she say something wrong? Why did Aubrey turn away like that? She stayed silent, allowing Aubrey to gather his thoughts. Instead, she gave his arm a slight squeeze, reminding him that he had her.

When he felt his arm squeeze, Aubrey blinked in suprise, then turned back to give Irisse a bashful grin. "I thought I saw something over there. Just seeing things." He said quickly, trying to cover his daydreaming. She didn't need to know his past... not yet anyway... He looked ahead and his smile became more natural. "Looks like we're getting close to home. It's almost apple pie baking time!"

Irissë nodded, not saying anything. Her ears perked up yet again, "I'm so excited!" she practically squealed, "I can't wait to see you in action." she giggled.

Aubrey let out a hearty laugh. "Prepare to be amazed!" He said in a loud commercial voice, like a vendor about to reveal some amazing product. Reaching a line of pine trees, Aubrey lifted up the lower branches of one and encouraged Irisse to go through first. A large clearing bore a small one level house. The clearing was rather plain, a few hardy flowers growing around the edges. A large garden was made near the house, containing all kinds of fresh produce and herbs. "Well, may I present, my humble abode." He said warmly. It wasn't much, but he liked it. "The market is usually only a quater day's walk from here, so it's a good spot for that."

Irissë's eyes brightened with interest, it was much smaller than the home she had grown up in, but it seemed more...quaint and familiar. Almost inviting. She turned to Aubrey, her delight obvious, "It's wonderful. And the flowers are just so pretty." she said, bending down to touch their petals gently. She looked up at him, "Let's go inside! I can't wait to start cooking with you."

Aubrey grinned. "I can no longer deny you your wishes. Let us go!" He let go of her arm and galloped ahead to get home first. With much flair he opened the door, bowing deeply back at Irisse and indicating with an arm for her to go on inside. "The kitchen is to the right, my dear."
