I..don't like Yuugi. I don't hate him...I just..eh.
I like him for his loyalty to friends, that's for sure. But that's also the reason I hate him. Even in the Jap version, he manages to drag some form of friendship into it. I feel like he can depend on them too much. Especially in the First Season. I felt like because of that, Jounouchi relied on him too much until his duel with Ryuuzaki.

Mmm, that's a good point. Oftentimes Yuugi could be overly-supportive, so much so that he wasn't allowing others to grow. But at the same time, before meeting Yuugi, Jounouchi had been completely independent, and didn't know what it was like to have friends other than Honda, his bullying-buddy. I think at the time, Jounouchi needed someone to rely on like that, to support him and show him that he doesn't always need to be independent. Then, once Jounouchi seemed secure in his new-found friendships, he was able to branch out on his own, gaining independence again, but this time as a duelist, and also as someone who does have friends, and can turn back to them if he needs to.

Yuugi seems to allow his friends to depend on him to much. Even though they may branch out over time, they still always go back to him. They never branch out very much... especially Anzu. In season 0, when her and Yuugi were friends, she was independant, not always following him around, and going off on her own at times. Then, as time progressed, and Jou and Honda cam into the group, it seemed more like a cult with Yuugi in the middle of it. That might be just because he's the main character, but it annoys me a bit...

Yes, Anzu definitely did become more dependent as the story progressed... but to me that seemed to be caused more by Yami no Yuugi than anyone. She had been friends with Yuugi for a good amount of time, but they weren't like best friends, and she was very dependent and went and hung out with other students and such. Then when Yuugi got his other half and all these strange things would happen, Anzu sometimes getting in trouble in the process, and saved by Yami no Yuugi, she seemed to become more attached to the group as a whole, but also seemed to develop feelings for Yami no Yuugi. As she became more attached, she spent more time with her original friend Yuugi, and with Jounouchi and Honda as well, getting more caught up in their adventures, and perhaps becoming afraid of not having anyone to rely on when bad things would happen. But overall, it seems like whenever Anzu is afraid and asking for someone to help or save her, it is always either Yami no Yuugi or Jounouchi that helps her, not often Yuugi himself. I guess to me Yuugi is so socially awkward, that I kind of see his little 'cult following' more a following for his other half. Everyone respects and admires Yami no Yuugi, and if you think about it, he was the one to cause the group to become closer, at least when they fight for a common cause together. But when you become reliant on Yami no Yuugi, you become reliant on Omote no Yuugi as well.

Basic Opinion/What You Answered in the Poll: I LOVE Yugi. Because he's just the nicest guy. Why would you hate someone nice?
Why You Hold That Opinion: Yugi is probably the one person in YGO I can identify with. We're both small, and we both used to be shy and pretty wimpy. Ouch, yeah. But Yugi persists in his kindness and in his stubborn belief of good [like Atem] and he manages to do good things with it. Whereas Atem will do good things for others just because they're right to him, Yugi does good things for others because he's taken the time to get to know that person, and he knows exactly what to do. I guess Yugi truly cares, whereas Atem does it because it's kind of expected of him, and he doesn't really want to be seen as a mean person, especially since he's also seen as yugi.
Favorite Characters to Pair With: Atem. ehehe. Atem is basically the perfect guy [according to all those Twilight fans, gee look at Atem] but Yugi really balances him out.
Rating of Favoriteness: 9/10?

I really like your point in the difference in reasonings behind the good deeds of the two Yuugis. Maybe that's why I prefer Yuugi over Dark Yuugi so much, because his kindness seems so much more genuine, and doesn't seem to have any expectations that come with it. <3

Yay for this guild!
But all the goodness and what not are exactly why I don't like those two... All the goodness bores me to death XD I prefer characters who run around, try to be... not good... and then more or less fail at it *coughYBcough* Yeah :3

Yeah... Atem's okay, I guess... especially in season 0... (Which I should talk about on the Atem/Yami Yuugi thread, but I'm lazy and sick)... but then he got corrupted by Yuugi XD And Yuugi's okay... I just don't like him that much... But at ;east I don't hate him or dispise him 3nodding
