Blaaah. I've always wanted to write and OU fan fic. But I've always been super scared to or have never been able to come up with an idea. ^^;

Sorry, my friend and I create slang sometimes, and well, I guess I assume that everyone else in this planet of 6 billion and growing people knows it as well. ^^;
OU --> Original Universe-when you set up a scenario in a fan fiction in which only a limited amount of the storyline has happened, usually creating a turn of events which is the plot of the story.
Working off of plot bunnies tends to create an OU fan fic, at least from what I've seen...which hasn't been a lot. v_v;

Ah, okay. That makes sense. Usually I think it's called a Divergence, but it took me a while to remember that one, and OU is shorter. ^^
I think it's the primary style I've ever done. I don't do a lot of shortfic, though, and my current longfic is the only longfic I've ever attempted. YYH was always where I did the most poetry, actually.
If you're wanting to try an OU, just pick a point in the series where something happened that you didn't care for, or that you would have liked to see happen differently, and then run from there. That kind of walks the line between Divergence and For Want of a Nail, but that's some of where 'Changing Death' started. It was halfway a spinoff of a pointless emo deathfic, and halfway a re-articulation of the series to replace Chapter Black because a lot of the world/class system that the series set up during that arc didn't make sense to me.

You could do a story where you explore their post-series relationship and how they deal with the problems they face. It's been done, but less often than you'd think.
For Want of a Nail is also referred to as the Butterfly Effect. One little change cascades, until everything is different. TvTropes.org is more thorough in explaining For Want of a Nail specifically.

Wow, I am so sorry I've been gone so long. I really shouldn't have left y'all hanging like that. I want to say thank you SO MUCH to all of you who've posted. This thread has helped me in ways that I can't even begin to explain.
I'm totally ready to write this thing! Yusuke and Kurama...they're wonderful together. I still don't necessarily see it as a typical romance, but that's fairly true of every ship in the series except for Kuwabara and Yukina's, so...^^
Also, the idea of having Kurama teach Yusuke to dance is pure genius. I owe all of you a big round of chocolate chip cookies. ^^' So, I'm going to write it, and soon enough I'll be posting it in the fanfics subsection of the guild. I'd love for you all to read it and give me harsh critiques on it. Thanks again!
(By the way, I've always called OU stories AU...for alternate universe. And I thought that the difference between them and divergence fics were that AU make it out that the entire series was always in that universe (such as a high school fic or one on another planet) whereas divergence fics change the universe/canonical plot midway through the already established canon. But that's just me.)

Genkai Training--> Yusuke continues smaller missions, but never does Yukina mission.
Dark Tournament
Chapter Black occurs with early Yusuke and the early group relationships. Yukina has not come into story, so Kuwabara still flirts with Botan.
Things like this are what my friend and I labeled as OU. Yes...we also make up our own words. Hahaha...^^;

I don't know why to me Yusuke is straight as a toothpick...(yes I know strange phrase) He did make a perverted comment about that nurse who had Hiei and Genkai trapped in the tent. He said something about grabbing his balls and making him cough XDDDDD
And his zealousness over touching that one chick..guy..um....hermaphodite...with the purpley blue hair when they had to rescue Yukina. He said he wasn't sure whether it was a girl so he touched and the family jewels were intact XDDD then Kuwabara asks what if it had been a girl and Yusuke just said i wouldn't have minded....something like that. Forgive me if I say something wrong!
Eh. I never questioned Yusuke's sexuality.. *shrugs*

Sexuality is more than just perverted comments and such. It's about finding what you need in another person, or attraction to another person.
Sure, Yusuke may be quick to make cracks, but I like the way borderline_mary described it in "Changing Death," ever notice how he likes to put a hand on Hiei's shoulder, or support Kurama after a fight. He actually PICKED UP Kurama after one fight in the Dark Tournament.
Ever notice how he touches his demon friends so casually, even after they've just met?
Now, let me ask you this. What does he do to females?
The occasional grab. Some eyeing.
*shrugs* I think Yusuke is AT LEAST bi-curious. He's one of those people that's just OUT there, you know? : D

eh....*still iffy* He is just so blunt? hahahaa that I think if he was bi there'd be more obvious signs.....but saying that there might not be because he wants to stay proffesional and likes to kick butt more ^-^. heheehehe
I won't deem it as impossible...Anything is possible; exspecially concerning anime. I just thought taking his "I don't care what others think" attiitude there might have been more obvious signs.
And all the guys put their hands on each other XDDDDD Even Kuwabara!

Anywho, I personally really like YusukexKurama. They just find so much in each other, I think it's adorable. Their first bonding moment with the Forlorn Hope, just IMMEDIATE CONNECTION! Think about it!
Kurama was willing to give up his LIFE to repay Yusuke when he rushed in to save him from Hiei at the warehouse!
Just AMAZING. *sighs* Amazing.

I can totally see where eartianwerewolf is coming from. I wouldn't have thought of Yusuke being interested in guys on my own, and he works really well with all the girls on the show (except maybe Yukina...and Shizuru...and Genkai...yeah.) He is overtly perverted, but there are some times when a great fanfic author can bring it together for me. So I suppose I can see Yusuke being bisexual.

Yeah the forlorn hope incident was cool X3 I can understand how they WOULD be good together. They both don't really belong in the human world...etc. etc.
I did think of this scenario for Yusuke and Kurama XDDDD:
Yusuke: "Kurama can I ask a favor of you?"
Kurama: "Why of course...what is it?"
Yusuke: "It's a little personal......I want to know if I'm bisexual."
Kurama: *cough* "I don't see how I can help you with that..."
Yusuke: "Do you think i could just touch it *looks down at Kurama's pants*
Kurama: "......."
Yusuke: "It'll only be a second...I really need to know...it is bugging me..."
Kurama: "........okay just for a second..."
And then Yusuke does and he'll either say:
"Nope straight as they come."
or "Wow I am. Nice package Kurama."
XDDDDD okies....sorry...maybe that's a little out of character.....
