Natsu huffed softly, well apparently his story ideas werent brilliant. Ears perking at the mention of a song or poem, the purple wolf grinning at the thought of hearing sanjah sing. Now that! That would be something quite interesting indeed. "Ya know..I wouldn't mind hearing him sing, that'd be cool wouldn't it?" natsu asked curiously, shaking his head as he watched the pair. Really neither of them made any sense to him.

Hiding a bit behind the pair as they led him into their tribe, looking about in awe at all the beautiful art and structures. Human dwellings..it made him uneasy and yet fascinated him all at the same time. "Are...are you two mates?" natsu asked mateus and sanjah catiously, moving closer to get a look at deeren,.Heh the pup really did look like mateus in a way, such natural colors on all of them.

Mateus laughed. "Sanjah? Sing? I haven't even hear him sing, Purple." he looked over his shoulder at Natsu. "I bet he can't sing."
Sanjah growled low, trying not to let it out. "I can to sing!" he stated confidently, lifting his head into the air, nose pointing to the sky. "I sing all the time. But no ones around to hear me." he confessed, blushing a little. A big wolf like him would never have been imagined to sing such lullaby.
Derren smiled childishly and nudged Sanjah. "I've heard you sing, Sanjah," he said in a low voice, which made the northern wold more flustered. "You sing me to sleep sometimes!"
Mateus smiled. "Cute..." was all he could say. He wanted to hear him sing, too.
Sanjah 'hmph'd and stopped talking. He shouldn't have hid his secret from the leader, but he didn't want to be seen as a wimp with his jokes of cannibalism up north, and then sudden soft spoken words.
Mateus smiled and imaged him singing lullabies to children. Aww. It was a cute sight. He zoned out trying to imaging it. He couldn't hear it, it was too awkward of a thought to him him sing. It'd probably be in another language, anyway, he decided.
Lost in thought, Mateus didn't quite catch Natsu's question. But the other two did.
Deeren cocked his head to the side and stared at the larger wolf beside him. "Mates? What do you mean, mates?" he asked, innocent to the world. "You mean a mommy and daddy?"
The hackles on Sanjah's neck rose. It was an odd question to ask to someone you just met!

"N...." he stopped, though. they probably looked like mates, how they acted, arguments aside. "No..." he finished, nudging Mateus out of his day dream. with his head. "Wake up, oh great leader."
"Uh, nn?" he asked awkwardly, and then smiled. "Sorry. I was trying to image you of all wolves, sing."
Sanjah sighed. "Maybe later. Natsu asked us a question."
Deeren jumped up to get their attention. "Whassa 'mate'?" he cried to them, which made Mateus laugh and sit on his rump. "Ahh! Did he ask if we were mates?"
Sanjah sighed and looked back to Natsu. "He finds it amusing when people ask. I don't know why. Hell, with all the people asking that question we might as well should be."
His face turned red.
"Stupid sunburns."
Tig laughed. The guides didn't say much in the quarrel of the wolves. "That's not you're sunburn, Sanny!"

Natsu grinned softly and ducked his head. "Ah..sorry..heh forgive me for being rude! I just, ya know was just curious. I mean you didn't act like you were siblings.." they didn't look a thing alike either, and they seemed far to close for just a chief and his friend, still maybe they were just very close friends? "Ahm, yeah sorry." his tail wagged slowly and he hung his head a bit.
More to hide his grin at catching sanjahs blush then anything else, though natsu did feel the need to make sure they knew he was sorry...tsk he should have learned to ask less personal questions.

Deeren, the cute little pup, was about as naive and innocent as they came apparently. He'd never met someone so sweet...no pup who didnt at least have some clue what a mate was! "You know sanjah, I bet you'd have a beautiful singing voice. " Deep down beneath all of the large northern wolfs toughness there was something soft and kind, not that natsu trusted him further then he could throw the brute, but at least he didn't feel so skittish around him now.

Derren pouted. "What is a 'mate'? i hear people say it all the time! Like, "Howdy, mate!" and and and, "what it, mate!" but your questions asked if there were MATES so that I......Uhmnnnn. i'm so lost!" he whined and scooted to Mateus, who would probably be more forgiving than the northern wolf or Purple.
Sanjah sighed. "Tell you later," he said, and looked back at Natsu. "It's fine. We get asked that a lot..." he sighed. And every time it's asked, progressively I think it's true. Blah. But he's so.. Childish...
Mateus placed a paw on Deeren. And giggled. "Purple, I work with illusions all the time, but I can not bring myself to imagine him sing! If he did, I bet it is all growly and harsh about death and war."
Deeren wagged his tail. "nuh uh! It's about love and clouds and-"
"Mateus is right!" he interrupted, but he said it in a voice that made it an obvious lie.

"I think..mate is a word for bigger wolves" natsu nodded with a small smile at deeren "Little ones don't need to know it just yet cause its an adult word." he'd already embarrassed himself and sanjah enough probably. He didn't need to make a further mess of things by explaining to the cute little pup what exactly he'd meant with the word 'mate'.

Natsu found himself chuckling, grinning and nodding in agreement with mateus, even though deeren said it was all exactly the opposite. "Haha, maybe gruff growly songs about love and war..or..haha death clouds?" he was enjoying himself, and he found it quite funny the way the large northern wolf tried to hide his soft spot for the child, or his ability to sing. It made natsu feel that maybe sanjah wans't as big a jerk as he'd thought he was.

"I bet well find a way to catch you at it though, mnnhmm even if I have to stay up late listening, I'm determined to catch you singing"

Deeren made a face "I'm a big wolf, too! Watch!". He bolted ahead and pawed the ground like a bull. "I'm coming for you, Sanjah!" he shouted, and steered towards him at full might, only to be met by a tree.
Deeren had run under Sanjah instead of knocking against him. It made Sanjah laugh at the pathetic attemp to knock him down. Mateus smiled and chuckled a little. He did not seem so amused.
"Child!" the northern wolf called and trotted over to him, picking him up by the scruff of his neck and placing him on his feet. "Thank you for brightening up my day!" he grinned and tried not to laugh at the scene playing again in his mind.
"Nooo!" Derren cried. "Owie! You cheated! I-I-i am BIG!" he whined and trotted under him again towards Mateus.
Once near his side, Derren looked up at Purple with big eyes, even though he went to see Mateus. "I.. am big... I... I can totally handle the word! I can sat it! 'Mate' See?" he 'humphed' and padded behind Mateus.
Sanjah came back and joined the group. "Now that was interesting." he stated, walking slowly to keep up with the other wolves. "Sorry. What we were talking about again?"
"You singing!" Tig peeped up, and ran circles around Sanjah. "He is gonna stay up late and try to listen!" he called bluntly, still running.
"Then I won't sing." Sanjah said, very modest about his voice, and not wanting his cannabalistic, big bad wolf image to deminish under soft spoken words of clouds and happy raindrops.
"But then I can't sleep!" Deeren shouted back.
"Suffer," Sanjah said. Maybe he could sing an evil Northern song about the cannibals and the winters that killed all.
