Kumoru behaved like any dead weight should as Nim hauled him into the next room. The friction of his body against the floor aggravated a few of his wounds, though, enough to bring him slowly back to consciousness.

"Ouch, cut it out," he rasped quietly, immediately regreting trying to speak with his throat and face burned as they were. He shifted ever so slightly, as though trying to get Nim to put him down just as she stopped dragging him.

Damned if he could cast spells like this, the necromancer thought as he gingerly touched his singed face with equally painful fingers. Oh well, Nim already seemed rather intent on saving his life, so why not just go ahead and help her with that task?

"Lend me your flesh and blood," Kumoru murmured in his language of magic as quietly as he could manage while still putting enough voice behind the words to make the spell work. He shut his eyes tightly at the pulling, burning sensation all the way from his lungs to his lips as the magic went into effect; his fingertips started to glow faintly.

Then he grasped onto whatever part of Nimaina was most convenient to reach. The mage's grip was firm enough to get a hold, but Nim would still likely be able to break it with little effort. With his spell, Kumoru could just take her energy and use it to heal himself. His external wounds could wait for now, though; he first worked on reparing the damage done to his throat. Without his magic, he was useless.

The kitchen seemed untouched, cabinets all closed, fridge intact, the floor was clean and free of debris. Even the knick-knacks were perfectly arranged. As the two mages wandered into this safehouse of sorts, they did not notice anything out of the ordinary. In fact, the kitchen being so clean was unnerving. Why hadn't the horrors touched this place?

However, as Nima and Kumo approached, something skittered out of the corner of their eye. A very high-pitched squeal, and it was gone.

Strange shadows were cast by various cartons and fruits, as the lighting had gone askew.

"Would you rather be eaten by wood?" she asked, pulling him out of the doorway. Looking around nervously, she pulled out her wand to try and cast a healing spell. Before she could, Nima felt his hand wrap around her wrist, speaking in an unfamilliar tounge. "What did you sa-" she asked, before she felt a drain on her energy. "What are you doing?" She jerked her hand away.

The redhead jumped at the squeal, pointing her shaking wand at the corners of the room. "D-did you see something?"

The necromancer was about to make another grab at the other mage's wrist, but the sudden sound made him jump a little, and refocused his attention on the possibility of another threat. At least it no longer hurt to breathe.

Kumoru figured he could get more energy from someone else later.

As it was, it hurt to move his fingers, and his left eye was nearly swollen shut from the burns on his face. He could cast spells painlessly again, at least.

It took more time than he would have liked to get up, but he finally managed it. The necromancer brushed his ponytail back over his shoulder so it would not get in his way, though it and most of his bangs had been singed at least a few inches shorter. But that could be fixed later, too.

Holding his hands up a little, Kumoru scanned the room with his good eye, trying to catch some sign of whatever it was that had made the noise before.

"Do you think I should cast another light spell?" he asked Nimaina quietly after a moment.

Silence reigned over the kitchen, nothing moving as the mages looked around. Nothing but the shadows seemed different, and even upon closer inspection, they did not seem evil at all. As soon as Kumo posed the question, the lights above them flickered slowly, dimly at first, before awakening to a dull glow.

Surveying the room, everything seemed normal despite the chaos around them. Pears, apples, oranges and bananas sat on the counter, several bowls elsewhere held more. In the fridge was milk, pasta and some steaks.

"Looks like we won't need it for now." Nima lowered her wand and stood up cautiously. "Maybe just the common room went all creepy..." she mused aloud. Even as she said it, she thought otherwise. Why would there be things screeching in here then? It didn't stop her from hoping though.

"It looks like we're safe for now." She glanced at the necromancer. He was looking alot better all the sudden, had he done something when he grabbed her? "Do you want to sit down for a second? I'm going to take a look around just in case..." Something about all this order was making her skin crawl.

Kumoru nodded slightly, but made no move to sit down again. For the moment, he settled for blowing gently on his hands, in a vain effort to cool the pain a bit. He kept his sight on Nim, though his gaze occasionally flickered to the darker corners of the room.

"I think I would feel better with a light of my own," the necromancer said after a moment, and said a few words to cast the spell. This light would be bigger than the ones he had cast while in the common room, but not bright enough to blind.

The light danced acroos eerily clean surfaces, however, the shadows on the fruit and various objects did not move at all. The fridge made its usual chunky noises, the icemaker depositing another batch of cubes into its automatic tray.

One cabinet is slightly ajar, and inside is a pill bottle, some cotton balls, antiseptic and a wax candle.

Nima didn't notice the oddness of the shadows as she looked through the cuboards. She did jump however at the sound of the icemaker. It took her a moment to calm down, holding a hand to her chest and breathing deeply.

So far though, she hadn't found anything odd or out of place. Unless you counted the Stepford-perfect neatness. No monsters, ghosts, creepy-crawlies so far. She pushed open the ajar door and peeked inside. Nothing leapt out at her, but the assortment of objects looked a bit odd in the kitchen cuboard. She picked up the pill bottle, looking at it curiously.

The necromancer glanced around the room, somewhat following Nim, but scanning the other counters and cabinets as well. He jumped reflexively when she jumped, then glanced over at the ice machine.

"Something is wrong here," he murmured quietly, as though the sound of his voice might disturb the abnormal normality of the room. Then, as Kumoru caught sight of the items in the cabinet into which Nim was looking, he asked a bit louder, "Do you normally keep those sorts of things in that cabinet? I'm not familiar enough with how this place should look...."

The pills were normal painkillers; there was nothing wrong with them.

The fridge began to deposit more ice into the tray, making another series of thumping noises. Of course, this series lasted far longer than the previous. Tapping started from the inside of the door.

Nima set down the pills, not finding anything overly wrong with them. "I'm not sure. I don't really keep inventory of what they've got here, but...It just seems odd. I can't remember them and they look out of place."

The mage shook her head, as if to chase away doubts. "I shouldn't be waiting here! I need to find Seung." Who knew what the girl was going through? Some Guardian she was. She passed by the fridge, not jumping as the ice was dumped. Just as she got to the door, the tapping started, making her pause. "Great, just what we need..."
