Ziazan squeaked at the grin and flew to the backroom to hid. Faolan watched it go and sighed. "I'm sorry. It's been a little more wound up lately than usual. Most times it's alright, but then it gets scared--and it gets scared more easily these days--and, well . . ." He gestured to where Zia had gone. "And I just figured you knew my name already because Banning might've told you. He told me some of the other owners, but I don't recall your name among them. Guess you got yours after me, eh?"

Kyru was almost sad that his "abusee" had ran off. He sensed no hostility from Fao and Mei seemed better from her fall already, which means he probably didn't need to stick around. It's quite boring listening to two humans drone on and on. A few flaps of his wings and he was off after the thing. Hide and seek had always been one of his favorite games.
Guess the picture will have to wait. Mei set the camera down after Kyru flew off. "Is that how he conducts his business now a days?" Maybe she should take interest in Banning's business. Nah, too much work. "No, Kyru was created before all this. I believe it was only a month after Misha emerged." She'd need to check her journal again, it's hard to remember dates when they all feel the same.

"Guess it slipped his mind," Faolan said absently, watching Kyru fly past. "Mei, no offence, but Zia's had a lot of trauma lately and your proto's scaring the feathers off it."
Not that he got to share more of his concerns as the draconian proto was pushed back out of the backroom pretty forcibly, soon followed by a naked twelve-year-old kid with feathered hair and wings at its waist. The kid stared the dragon down, hands on hips and wings flapping a little, feathers and cards drifting to the ground from them. "Back off, lizard. I'm not so small now, am I?"

Fao had pointed out one of Mei's flaws and she knew it. Although she's the "owner" of the Essentic, she doesn't really have much control over him. It's hard to say so when the man appeared to expect her to grab its tail and pull it away or something. No, Kyru is no lapdog but he is her friend so maybe he'll listen to reason.
Before she could say anything, the two Essentics' positions seemed to have changed. The sudden morph surprised Kyru so much so that he didn't notice the hands pushing him back. The proto cartwheeled a few times backwards through the air but managed to stablioze himself. He still seemed a bit out of it as he landed on the table. But after a few minutes, he managed to pull himself together and glare back. Why is it so big now? He blinked his squinty eyes a few times, wondering if they were playing tricks on him but the scene didn't change.
Mei's eyes were wide with shock. What happened? The first thing she could think of to do was whip up her camera and take a picture. The room flashed.

Fao quickly reached over and all but slapped the camera from the woman's hands, throwing her aim off when she snapped the picture, catching the floor instead of a naked kid. "Are you insnae?". He headed over to Zia and looked down at it, reaching out to touch the kid's hair and then wings. "What . . . what did you do?"
Zia looked up, mildly disappointed at not being as big as it had hoped. "I grew up. For you. To help you."
"Bit weak in the head, are you? Should've grown for yourself, hinny," Faolan chuckled, then knelt down, shrugging out of the robe he was wearing, leaving himself bare-chested and in brown leather pants. He wrapped the robe around the newly formed Alter and smiled. "We'll work on the clothes issue."
He looked up at Mei, arms going around Ziazan protectively. "I don't want photographs taken of either of us."

"A little late on that," Mei gave an grim sigh as her excitement had dropped quite rapidly to disappointment. The camera had hit the floor poorly and shattered into three pieces. Thankfully, it wasn't anything expensive and it went out in a flashy way. She picked up the chip that stored her photos and put it in her bag. It might have captured something on its way out. "Maybe my fortune is a bad one, I'll have to remember."
Kyru sat there rather unsatisfied and looked at the pair, one hugging the other protectively. Doesn't seem like his bonding time was going as well as he had originally hoped. The proto found the little pencil Mei had give the man earlier, grabbed it and dropped it by her feet. With a swift movement of her hand, the girl picked Kyru and the pencil up. It's probably better to leave those two alone while they cope with the new circumstances. She'll have to observe them later. "Sorry for all the trouble, you have my sincere apologies. Maybe I'll treat you to something for the problems. Oh, will I see you at the ball?"

"I'll be there with Zia and my wife," Faolan answered, giving her a quick glance, though his attention was more on Zia's new form.

"Wife? You seem rather young to have one, but then again, love works in mysterious ways. Be sure to introduce me when the time comes!" Mei smiled at her overly sappy comment."Well, Kyru and I will meet you there." And with that, the two headed out of the fortune telling booth. One a little smug with her successful experiment and the other trying his best to pretend, once again, to be a toy.
