It helps me LOADS if I sing it. And sometimes just play it over and over and over again. And while you're not practicing, sing your part some. I know that feeling. I can't memorize worth crap and I have a hard time remembering stuff. But I've learned to memorize music pretty well. ^_^

memorize one bar at a time, turn your stand around, and play through what you know till you cant get it right anymore, find the spot, memorize, then play through from the top till you can play the whole song not looking at the music, then do it again.

The key is to look for patterns. Break the music down into sections. Look for where the same theme is repeated exactly and count how many times. If you see 2 similar phrases that alternate with each other, count how many times they repeat. Is a run a major scale? What are the top and bottom notes of each run and on what beats do they fall? Do the thinking before you do the playing and that should make it easier. Also, it's fine to memorize a couple of bars at a time when you're first starting, but as much as possible, as you get further into learning the music, you should be thinking in phrases.

Take a few measures at a time and go through them over and over until you can play 'em perfectly or they get permanently stuck in your head.
I hate memorizing crap. xp

Well usually what helps is not trying to memorize it all in one sitting. Pull out individual parts of the song from the beginning til the end and play them til you memorize those small parts. Then as you learn them start putting some together as you go.
If you aren't gifted with the ability of memorizing things easily (like alot of us aren't..) don't try to memorize it in one sitting instead of taking a couple of days, it will go in one ear and out the other if you do.
Hope it helps even a little =]

Play a little bit of the song, say 3 or 4 measures, and try to memorize that. Then try to do another 3 or 4 measures and just keep going from there. That's what I usually do.
