Well... of the celebrity deaths this week, this one shocked me the most:Andrew Blankstein, Phil Willon and Harriet Ryan of The LA Times Pop star Michael Jackson was pronounced dead today after paramedics found him in a coma at his Bel-Air mansion, city and law enforcement sources told The Times. Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Steve Ruda told The Times that paramedics responded to a 911 call from the home. When they arrived, Jackson was not breathing. The paramedics performed CPR and took him to UCLA Medical Center, Ruda said. Hundreds of reporters gathered at the hospital awaiting word on his condition. The sources, who spoke on the condition that they not be named, said family members rushed to Jackson's bedside, where he was in a deep coma.

There was a lot of controversy surrounding him, and he was no doubt a very odd person, but this still really surprised me. There are rumors of it being drug-related, but I SERIOUSLY doubt it.

O.O Holy s**t! I was just thinking of him the other day, randomly. :/ Wtf? sad
But... at least he'll be less tormented now, by everything.
Is it weird that I thought that, if he had an adult friend who liked to play in the Neverland Ranch with him, that there wouldn't be so much trouble? O_o
I dunno. I wanted to be his friend, just because it looked like he really needed one. One that wasn't any sort of temptation, if any of that was ever true.
:/
Poor guy.
.... wait... more celebs died this week? gonk Who?

Farrah Fawcett died today as well (or late last night.)
I agree. The guy was really bizarre, but that certainly isn't a crime; I really doubt things were as sinister in that house as everyone insists - at least looking at it from my outsider's point of view. Sure, he shared his bed with little kids, but I think it was more in a "yay~ sleep over, yay~" way than perverted (or at least genuinely perverted.) Oddly enough, South Park's parodies of him were what made me rethink my views of him.

I used to love Michael Jackson when I was younger. I taped like, his Thriller video and everything and would watch it all the time, and had all the little cassettes of his music. :3 It's sad that he's gone, but I agree with Cassy, at least now he won't have to suffer people's opinions on him anymore.
His music was good, is still good. Good luck in the afterlife, Michael. 3nodding

Well, I knew Farrah Fawcett was really sick and was going to go pretty soon.
*Hugs Micheal*
It's just so sad that there'd be so many people who'd be willing to exploit, use, and hurt him, just to see if things were true or not.
Heeded some REAL friends. A couple of years ago, when I was like 18, I used to fantasize about going to where he lives and just demanding to be his friend.
D: It's silly, but I just thought it'd be nice for him to have a friend who could hug him but not want to have sex with him or do things, just a friend. He grew up in a time where child stars were not so protected as they are now. He just seemed like a really nice person who was twisted by the world and circumstance.
crying
This song on the radio is making me cry. sad
'Oh Chariot'
I believe everyone goes to the afterlife, so yeah, good luck Micheal. <3 Hope your next life is better.

The Associated Press Two monorail trains crashed early Sunday morning in the Magic Kingdom section of Walt Disney World, killing one train's operator, emergency officials said. The transit system, which shuttles thousands of visitors around the sprawling resort each day, was shut down while authorities investigated the holiday weekend wreck. Source (via Yahoo)
Kat took me to Disney twice, and we rode on those monorails. Disney doesn't see as many yearly accidents as other parks I'm sure (such as Six Flags), and though I whined and was terrified on many of their rides, I never felt genuinely at risk. It's horrible that the operator was killed - no doubt he did all he could to protect the passengers (very few were injured) - most Disney employees are pretty serious about their job, and Disney doesn't lie when it says "The safety of our guests and cast are a top priority above all else." They won't even let the people in character suits outside without a handler and only for less than ten minute intervals.
...On a slightly more amusing note, the Londoner quoted in the article had the last name "Lauren Shoebottom."
@Cassy: I had to stay off of /b/ because it was filled with edited pictures of him, advertising various products in both heaven and hell, and I couldn't decide if I wanted to let myself laugh or not XP

Micheal Jackson almost kills internets- (Confirmed to have killed 4chan)
O_o
I wish I could have been watching it on TV. My god... the response is crazy. (I imagine this is what it would have been like for Elvis had internet like, been around when he died)
You think he would be overwhelmed by all the people who still loved him after all the s**t? O_o
I mean, it's a crazy fan love, but it's love man. It's love. <3
crying
s**t and now I'm crying again. *sigh* sad
Also- I think the kids are his. O_o IF you look at pictures of him as a kid-they have his eyes and eyebrows and facial structure. Mmmhm.
If it's proven they're not then, man, I don't want to see the vultures that are MJ's family swooping down and like, trying to get at his money. Cuz he left the money to the kids, but if they aren't his and he hasn't formally adopted them-
Well they can still get the money. But custody will be an issue. Very unique situation.
EDIT: Also- 14 carat gold casket? O_o
WTF.
5000 years from now-
Aliens- BOSS. We've just found like, this shiny yellow stuff, dude. And it's in one of the things they put their dead in. Alien2- Sweet. LETS CRACK IT OPEN FOR THE AWESOME FIND THERE IS LIKELY TO BE Alien1- Dude, wonder who this chump used to be? And why the ******** was he buried in what looks like a friggin carnival? Alien2- Dunno...... hey isn't that a picture of Mcauley Caulkin on the inside of the lid? Alien1- O_o

So recently here in Wichita, Kansas, Doctor George Tiller was gunned down in his church. He conducted "late term" abortions (which I'm against in 99% of cases, but that is another story) and had already been targeted in the past. This time the attack was successful in that Scott Roeder managed to kill him.
Now the justification behind said shooting was to prevent the deaths of infants that Tiller would abort in future years. Many call the bombing/shooting of abortion clinics and doctors a "holy war," a just cause because surely God frowns upon the death of unborn children.
Dramatics and questionable justifications aside, what I find interesting in this ongoing saga is that supporters of Roeder, including a woman who also tried to kill Tiller in the 90s, are gathering items to auction off to pay for his defense (source here.) Among the items is a book, "an Army of God manual, an underground publication for anti-abortion militants that describes dozens of ways to shut down clinics, including bombing."
So now the case has moved beyond the abortion debate - it is no longer about saving infants, but now some kind of glory hounding initiated by the nutters who use Christianity for murder. By auctioning off items related to their questionable acts to the public, they are just attention whoring: "oh, look, I killed a doctor, I'm on tv, bid on this bullhorn I signed." It pisses me off.
It's supposed to be about fleshing out the true definitions of our laws, debating the right we have as women and as growing children, and trying to come to a conclusion in the court of law as to the acceptable or unacceptable acts one can make for their cause. Not getting attention by flaunting one's murderous history by signing things and trying to sell them on eBay.

I would suggest a glance at this article regarding Newsweek columnist Ramin Setoodeh claiming that homosexual actors/actresses are incapable of portraying believable straight characters.

That's crazy, that guy is wrong in so many ways. I mean, geeze. There's just so much to throw back at him. 'A straight actor can'tplay a gay one then' 'a bisexual actor can't convincingly play gay or straight' 'a straight actor/actress can't convincingly play a mtf/ftm transgender'
and then there's the fact that sexuality is just.. sexuality. Has nothing to do with who you are.
this is a stupid person....
As long as you don't use Tom Cruise as an example.
----
Also that guy is a ******** idiot for using 'Dharma and Greg' as an example. DID HE EVER WATCH THE SHOW? XD
He's a stiff, upperclass, raised by stiff moral straight sterotypical rich parents.
She's a hippie who dances on tables and s**t. Of course he's going to be 'stiff'
It's the characters.
And it's like, that's his opinion, sure.. but he essentially got an OPINION paper published in newsweek.
one with NO REAL EVIDENCE to back it up. And a BADLY WRITTEN OPINION PAPER AT THAT. Using BAD EXAMPLES and arguments that are EASILY AND LOGICALLY PICKED APART.
God wtf was Newsweek thinking?

Godfrey Potter-Lockhart God wtf was Newsweek thinking? I reckon either they don't proof read their articles before allowing departments to post them, they assumed it wouldn't receive much attention, or they new it would cause a lot of attention and negative or not that generates page hits and responses, which is good news for sidebar ads and such.
If he wanted to pick at an individual homosexual's unconvincing acting, stating their inability to shed their sexuality before the camera limited how their character was portrayed, okay sure, I'll buy into that, it's a legitimate claim. But that's bad acting, not some preexisting conditions we homos have.
Besides, for me, Queer as Folk proved real life sexuality means NADA on screen. Have the cast is straight and each scene held nothing but truth for the audience; even intense gay sex scenes laced with the love between two characters, straight men were able to effectively portray the characters right down to a voice crack during a breathy "I love you."
Also, OMFG Cassy, you made my day with your Tom Cruise crack. XD I love youuuu.
