Old Roleplay

Two Brothers

Tweek
Yero padded along softly, his blankened paws padding against the ground in almost silence, even over the last few dried leaves. He had never broken his habit of treading in a stalking manner, almost like a feline in his sinuous gait. Red eyes, bright as a raven's scanned the landscape constantly, aware of every movement. His tail, previously held robotically low and stiff was trailing smoothly behind him, the soft breeze touseling the long black feathers as every now and then his banner craned upward into a more confident arch.

The young adult had recently found the confidence he'd been deprived of as a pup. Though he was still often awkward at times he was eager to learn the rules of the game of socializing, and his quick mind was constantly picking up reminders. Still, not having met many packmates he was not yet sure of his place in his mother's pack. A familiar scent turned his head, and he altered his direction and padded lightly towards it. Maybe he could start here..?

Tahja Estes
Hige wasn't too far off from the den that he and Thayne shared. It was a crisp day, today, as it had rained hours before and left the once crisp leaves moist and without their crackle. The air was cold, in fact, and Hige was mesmerized by the falling snowflakes.

Inside of the den Thayne was fast asleep, meeting with Devvyl and Raine had taken a bit out of him, and left him in need of rest.

~I hope we'll get to meet with the other pack members soon, I haven't seen Yero or hise two friends since the first day I came here. We can't leave without them, right?~

He glanced over his shoulder into the darkened entrance of the den where his younger 'pack-brother' was sleeping. Kids should have other kids, or even young adults to play with. He was glad that Raine would also be joining them, it would give Thayne someone to grow up with.

Wait, what was that? Or rather, who?

Hige bristled a bit, but then began to relax again. That scent was vaguely familiar... He hadn't smelt it in a very long time. One of the other wolves he'd met early on?

He kept his golden eyes trained on the direction that the scent was approaching from, then positioned himself closer to the entrance of the den to keep it a bit hidden from view.

Tweek
Yero slip into view from behind a small copse of connifers and paused, his ears canting towards Hige as he looked him over with those eerie red eyes. Yero was a young wolf of average size, not too much bigger than Hige, though the fluff of his fur that made it look almost like patterned bird-feathers made up for some of that. Tiny flecks of snow fell, gently nestling on his thick black coat and he took a few steps forward before seating himself primly on his inky haunches.

He remembered this wolf now, the last time they'd met Yero'd been a bit jealous and the corners of his maw twitched into a small smile at that thought. "You're Selia's other boy.." He greeted, as if still in thought. Aparently Yero didn't much notice the snow.

Tahja Estes
Oh... so it was Yero after all. Hige's first reaction was one of relief. His stance became a bit more relaxed, and his earthy fur finally settled back down on his hide. "Yero... isn't it?" Now that he wasn't afraid of the other wolf, Hige had a proper chance to take him in.

He was a lot like Raine, both had feathered fur...

He memorized the scent that the raven gave off as he slightly reared his head back, then back down, rustling his own neck fur. "Selia told me about you, but I haven't seen you after that first meeting... Not to pry, but... Where've you been? Are you and your friends still going to travel with the pack?" He raised a brow at the other wolf curiously, having a seat on the ground as well.

Tweek
... Yero... isn't it?
He nodded without a word. It may have seemed a little curt but was not intended to be.

Yero cocked his naturally clouded brow at the younger wolf's next query, mildly surprised by the question. No one had really ever asked about him before other than Whinn, Autumn, and of course Selia.

"Ah..now your name's Hige, yes?" The black wolf mused. His voice was a little stilted as if he was thinking every word through, but otherwise amiable. "I've been at the river's delta." He couldn't keep a private smile from spreading across his features. "My mate, Whinn, is fond of the riverbank. We two'll be headed south with you." He wondered if Hige had met his pretty female. Perhaps not, as like himself Whinn still seemed a bit introverted.

"And maybe one more female..I can't tell if she's made up her mind to follow Devvyl or the wolf called Notoka,"
Yero settled himself, sliding down into a lazy laying position, his head still alert. Talking to Hige was a strange feeling. He had never had a.. 'sibling', all his litter passing away before he had even a chance to snuggle against their bodies for warmth, let alone learn their names.

Tahja Estes
"Hige is the name," He smirked aimably. "I'm surprised we didn't manage to cross paths before now, at least once, but no harm, right?"

He pawed at the ground a bit, then flopped lazily onto his stomach to lie down before the entrance. Hige wasn't very educated with respectful behavior or pack rankings, but he never meant disrespect and in fact considered it a sign of trust to be himself in front of those he met. He assumed a lot, and it might get him into trouble one day, but until that day came... 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it.'

"Besides, now's as good a time as any to get to know one another." He shot Yero an easy going smirk from the ground. "Right?"

~The pack has gotten larger, it seems. It'll only keep getting bigger, too, if Selia and Devvyl start a family of their own once we find territory.~

Tweek
"It is too bad," Yero gave a tilted nod in commiseration. "I would have liked to know you better." Still, as Hige had said, no reason not to know him now, Yero thought. He decided, perhaps a bit compulsively that he actually would like to know Hige. Something about the wolf's happy-go-lucky attitude set him at ease.

The black wolf chuckled in his remarkably low voice, lowering his chest and sliding down into a casual laying position adjacent to Hige with a soft thud.
"Where does one start, getting to know a 'brother'?"

Tahja Estes
"Dunno, you're the first one I can remember having." Hige couldn't help shooting a lopsided little smirk over at Yero. Now, to get down to 'business'! Conversation properly started with Hige hoping that Yero wouldn't take offense to the younger adult making use of her name instead of 'title' ("mother", mom, etc.). "How long have you known Selia?"

Tweek
"Same here," Yero rumbled softly, his wine-red eyes distant, as if looking back on an old memory, and his face taking on a slightly wizened look. He corrected his features and cleared his thoughts.

Yero was actually grateful that Hige refered to her as 'Selia'. Yero was making himself adjust accordingly but perhaps the use of 'Mother' would seem a little strange at first between the two anyway.
"I came to these woods very young." He said, falling back into that wistful look, this time not bothering to save face. After a moment's pause he said "..Selia was the first wolf I really got to know. There were a couple others I saw, but I had an aversion to males.."

Tahja Estes
~It sounds just like my story...~

Hige scratched a bit behind his ear with his back leg, arching his neck of course to do so. "So you've been here a while, I take it. Sorry, but I kind of suck at small talk." Hige admitted, straightening to lie down again.

Tweek
The older wolf smiled at Hige's self criticism. "Me too. I'm still learning a lot of things about socializing," He gave a resonant chuckle, shaking his large head at the abscurity of social rules. Even as an adult the worry of how to act properly constantly gnawed at the back of his mind. Yero stretched his front legs out lazily, flexing his long black paws into the cool earth in a mellow manner.

"So lets talk bigger talk. Where did you come from? Do you remember your past pack?"

Tahja Estes
Hige had managed to smirk a bit, glad that Yero seemed to understand exactly what he meant. For someone such as Hige that had never been exposed to pack life behavior before it was something on his mind. It wasn't dire to him that he learn, but he also didn't want to put Selia and Devvyl in any akward spots.

"I remember that I was traveling from the east. I'd had an encounter with a two legger, but anything before that is a little hard to recall.... I was alone for a long time."

Hige lifted his head so that he could look at Yero more easily, tail beating a soft rhythm against the ground. "I can... remember a little bit about our territory though. There were mountains... and a lot of trees, I remember being happy there."

Tweek
"A two legger?" Yero rumbled softly, settling himself as he exhaled loudly, tilting his head. "I've seen them only from a distance...when I first came to these woods. --Only the dark skinned ones, not the pale man..but the..native ones with their glowing fires." His eyes grew distant as if staring into those fires just then, and the deep red flickered almost as if in reflection.

"Your memory is faulty? Is it like... mother's?"

Tahja Estes
"I don't know," Hige admitted. He didn't fail to notice the nostalgic look in his 'older brother's eyes. What was it that Yero was thinking back to? It seemed like he was somewhere else much furhter than there, for a moment... Curious though he was Hige knew his turn to ask questions was coming soon. "This one had dark skin, brown, like a young tree. She lived by the sea with a pack of... other creatures. She fed me, but I didn't stay, it was kind of confusing there and too busy, and noisy... And I'm not sure, she's never said anything to me about her past, I guess it never came back up after she asked me where I was from. She and Devvyl were too busy trying to deal with Faenaro."

Yero "Welcomes" Elphie and her beau back to the pack, but seems stressed about his mother's departure.

Tweek
Elphie hesitated a moment more on her vantage point, a thrum of contentment starting in her throat impulsively. She tossed back her head and howled her return through black lips, her voice rising and falling up the scale, earthy and gravelly, suited to this land. The female leapt off the rock and trotted swiftly to Neka's side. As the two passed a copse of trees, Elphie sighted the densites as the ground began to level out. The stream that had followed the two brown wolves their entire journey burbled ahead of them leading their way, and Elphaba padded along its bank, heading directly towards the meeting place. "Welcome to my packlands," She wuffed to Neka with a wolfish grin, a quiet thrill pulsing through her veins.

In the level, firm packed ground of the gathering place lay a black wolf, a youngish adult, compact in all dimensions but still heavily muscled from the activities of lupine life. Bracing a large sunbleached leg bone of a deer against his sharply contrasting paws with a certain dexterity, Yero worried it with his teeth boredly. The bone seemed a forgotten remainder of a packmate's hunt. The marrow had no doubt dried up but he could still busy himself with splintering it open. As he positioned his head to bring his ivory teeth crushing together a howl caught his attention and he immediately perked his ears and rose his head, his chewtoy forgotten.

Elphaba, the Beta, had returned. He had been watching for her in his alpha's absence. It had been unsettling with both alphas and beta gone, with little power structure to fall back upon if there was an emergency, but luckily no crisis had occured. As Yero scented the wind he caught Elphaba's scent and was momentarily reassured, but there was a foreign male's scent in the air as well. Yero bristled with instinctual anxiety, his muscles tensing. With his adopted mother's pups still quite young, he could take no chances. Still, he was curious, and remained where he was as the two wolves approached. Though the thought of another male made him nervous, from his experience it was best to observe first.

As Elphaba padded on large paws into the clearing, Yero bowed his muzzle to her, acknowledging her because of her rank more than any shared closeness between the two. "Welcome back, Elphaba," His strange red eyes scanned over the rust colored male at her side who seemed to have a bit of a limp. "Who is your friend?" This was asked with polite formality, but there was just a hint of strain in the younger wolf's voice.

JadeEye
Neka was careful on exactly where his gaze should fall on the black male before him. It wasn't that he was particularly frightened; life on his own had pretty much tore that emotion from his personality....but it was better to be cautious because he knew that he wasn't really a match for a healthy, younger wolf should Yero decide that something had to be done.

'Ello, he uttered quietly, his gaze shifting to Elphie's to gauge her reaction to the black male. Obviously this was a packmate that stood in front of them, but he wasn't sure how to go about introducing himself. It had been easy enough for him to grow comfortable with Elphie; they had just sort of run into each other and conversation grew from there. The situation here was much more formal and Neka wasn't sure what to do.

Tweek
Elphie knew that a bit of tension was inevitable. She wagged her tail in hopes to encourage both the males. "This is Neka. I befriended him in the freelands," The shewolf gave Neka's neck-ruff a quick snuffle, as if to demonstrate that friendship.

Yero kept his eyes level on the other male, but after a moment it was evident that he'd decided he wasn't a great threat. The fact of Neka's limp, exagerated as it seemed from the long journey, put Yero somewhat at ease. He was confident that if the newcomer did anything rash, namely make for the pups, he would be able to overtake him in time. Though his wine red eyes were far from trusting, he licked his chops casually and let his eyes wander away from Neka's form for a moment, communicating that he was ready to accept him as Elphie had presented him.

Knowing that the black wolf was far from talkative, Elphie querried helpfully: "Where are Selia and Devvyl?" Yero's ears pricked forward and once again his eyes searched Neka, as if worrying whether or not he should disclose the information that the alphas were gone. Figuring Neka would find out anyway if he stayed here much longer, he relented: "They visit with Haku and his mate," He fluffed his neck ruff, confident that he had avoided alluding that they were so far away.

Elphaba furrowed her brow. Gone? But surely... But then where were the pups? Here? There? Both? She glanced back to Neka and nipped at him companionably, settling down on her aching haunches as far away from Yero as was polite. "It's not usually so lonely here," She wuffed dryly with more than a hint of a smile. Yero caught the implied insult and huffed a breath out his nostrils passively, a wolven shrug.

Shaoilin
Neka indeed looked nothing like the part of a threat, the slightly ragged brown fur slightly slicked down to his light frame, outlining the hump above and slightly down the spine from the shoulders. He gave the black wolf a very placid lookover before he too slid to the ground, holding back the whine of pain that threatened at his throat as he did so.

The n** was met with a chuckle and a nonchalant sliding of forelegs out onto the lightly snow-dusted earth and a shift away from Yero, casually closing the distance between himself and the brown she-wolf.

Lonely eh na always bad, he said quietly, mostly only for Elphie's ears. Eh better ta meet everyone slow anyway. Eh seems p'haps meh appearance eh not the most welcome thing righ' now.

Tweek
Elphaba fluffed her fur, sliding onto her stomach until her side touched the male's. "It's simply the pups. Their safety is paramount. He would act this way towards anyone," Elphie assured Neka privately, chuffing a short breath in his ear in the spirit of a hostess fussing over a guest. The shewolf lay her head down on her paws thoughtfully and closed her eyes as if to think. She hadn't yet seen those pups.. her best friends' children, the alpha's new blood. She was eager to meet the little ones and wondered how they might resemble their parents. However, thinking of the puppies she felt a tiny twinge of jealousy. Was it for Selia? Devvyl? The parents in general? Or the puppies themselves? Elphie didn't know.

Yero's keen ears had apparently picked up the clandestine remark because he rumbled from across the clearing: "It's not just that. Hige and Loki have set out for the beaches, starting a new pack. " Elphie opened her eyes, somewhat surprised, and another spark of undeniable envy touched her green orbs. "Our numbers are fewer." Yero seemed geniunely disappointed and Elphaba recalled that his 'brother' Hige was one of the only wolves she'd seen the black male open up to. Elphie glanced curiously to Neka with another small smile. "We've come at an interesting time indeed," She wuffed with good humor.

Shaoilin
Interestin' in ah good o' bad way, he remarked wryly, setting comfortable on the cool ground and privately willing the pain in his back to disappate a bit. The male had watched Yero out of the corner of his eye for the most of the exchange, his gaze never settling on the ebony form for longer than a few breaths at a time. Nothing that passed between the shewolf and the black male had anything to do with him so he didn't comment on it; instead he passively licked a forepaw, ears canted forward as he listened.

Yero and Whinn talk about a new beginning.
Lesotho
Whinn yawned and stretched herself out, opening her grey eyes to the darkness of her newly dug, cozy den. Yero had made it perfect for them; location, depth, everything. It'd been a pretty quiet night; she'd slept soundly through most of it with the comfort of Yero by her side. But when she awoke she found that no one was there beside her. Where had Yero gone? Getting up, she stepped out the shallow opening to their den, shaking the loose dirt that clung to her pelt free. She scanned the area, sniffing for a fresh scent trail. Hmmm... She'd been thinking a lot lately...

Thinking about their future together; thinking about moving back to where they'd come from. Sure, they had a perfectly fine home right here and it was even on the same river she grew up on, but she really felt the nostalgia calling her to go back home; to her part of the river, her woods and sands and trout and other fish that swam in her river. Yes, now she wanted to call it hers. She wishe Yero was near.

Scanning the area again and still no sign of the handsome black male, she tossed back her head, sending out a howl that shot through the air with piercing directness. It wasn't a call to just anyone; it was a call for him. She and he needed to talk about the future; and the sooner the better.

Tweek
At the sound of the howl, Yero perked up his inky muzzle immediately, his ears flagging upward to stand erect. He hesitated for but a moment, wine colored eyes scanning over the foreign male once more in a cursory glance. But he was eager to leave. Neka had not shown any aggressive behavior and didn't seem likely to. Both Elphaba and Soul seemed friendly with the brown wolf, so Yero would trust his packmates. He had the decency to feel a twinge of sheepishness for his curt behavior, but then when had he ever adhered to any social conduct other than driest formality other than with Whinn? Whinn. Right. He rose himself to his feet and rumbled a sort of goodby--well, more an announcement of his departure as he didn't make eye contact with any of the other wolves. His tail trailed low for a moment as his short legs quickly carried the compact wolf in the direction of his mate, then rose into a soft wag of anticipation. He gave a quick succession of low barks, apparently not feeling like a howl, and was quick to appear in his beloved's vision. "You called?" He wuffed with a roguish grin, the wag in his tail increasing.

Lesotho
Her ears piqued forward when she heard the barking. Turning her head to teh direction of the sounds, her tail started into a slow wag, knowing the voice to be none other than Yero's. As the ebony wolf parted through the trees and came into her sight, her tail picked up the pace as did his, she observed. She was happy to see him since he hadn't been around a lot. But did she honestly want to talk about the business of picking up and moving? Starting a family? She didn't know. Her ears quivered as she hesitated. Hearing his sly remark, she couldn't help but smile, her eyes meeting his eagerly. "I haven't seen you in a while..." she said with a slightly mocking grin. "Forgotten about me?" Her eyes offered a teasing light to her words, but there was an underlying seriousness. She didn't want to avoid the subject she'd been so pressed to discuss, but at the same time she didn't want anything to do with it. Perhaps he would just... read her mind. He was good at that.

Tweek
The compact male pranced to his beloved, his whole body in a happy wag. Whinn did seem to get him in the most undignified state, not that his actions had ever been especially eloquent. His ears flicking back, he licked her cheeks in greeting with a rumbling whine of affection. "For--gotten?" Yero stammered in response to her airy teasing. "Never!" He protested, perhaps a little too fervently, as his muscles tightened at the thought, giving his face a drastically sobering look. The young adult over-corrected his posture, standing tall, then tilting his muzzle down once more to touch noses with Whinn. The pretty shewolf was Yero's only, and he would tell her so.

He plopped down onto his haunches, still touching noses with her as a grin crossed his face. "What would I be without you?" His question was genuine, he realized. Whinn.. was the only thing the male had. He was loyal as he could be to the pack; he owed that to dear Selia. But Selia had a mate now, and children of her own. Yero hardly knew the pups--and come to think of it, he hardly knew the rest of the pack. Whinn.. was his escape. The one who had somehow pried off his shell, and continued to do so every time he saw her. If there was a true Yero, it was the one Whinn saw. And no one else.

Yero glanced into Whinn's dark doe-eyes and his ears tilted forward in puzzlement. It wasn't that they were lacking their usual life--it was.. they seemed almost to be masking something. Something different than usual "Love, is everything alright?" The male asked softly, his oddly low voice losing its usual rumble.

Lesotho
She gave her tail a good wag as he came over to her and licked at her cheeks, which she returned without hesitation. She almost laughed at his response to her tease. He'd always been so open about everything... and so soft spoken yet always for her. She realized once more how much she loved him and wanted to be by his side forever. His nose touched hers, and a small smile spread across her muzzle as she listened to him, ears perked with attention. A small sigh escaped her, as if she didn't need words to express that she was so helplessly devoted to him. He was good to her.

When he caught the look in her eyes, she looked away for a moment. Yes, it was true. Her thoughts were elsewhere besides with the pack. She had been thinking about their spot by the river... where they had met and spent their puppyhood together. She was also thinking about... well... puppies. She knew the thought had crossed both their minds at one point or another, and she wanted to speak with him about it. Her eyes met his again, the expression changed a bit.

"Things are fine... I've just been thinking..." She wondered how he'd react if she openly spoke her thoughts to him, but seeing as they were alone in their small spot by the water where they had made such a cozy home, she thought she should be up-front. "I miss the river, Yero... I don't know why, but something in me wants to go back there... go back... and start a family..." The solemness in her voice that had not been present in her first statement scared her a bit, but she only watched him, a small whine escaping her gullet. She wondered how he'd feel now that she said it. She just wanted to say it; she needed to find out what he was thinking, and moreover if the feeling should just be left to pass or if it should be heeded. If they should once again live in their own private solace.

Tweek
The midnight wolf cocked his head, taken aback by his mate's confession. When he let his mind chew on it for a moment, however, he wasn't surprised. He let his blood-red eyes stare into space beyond the pretty female's muzzle, thinking deeply for a moment. Was Whinn unhappy here? How could he fix that? "Hrrn..." When he raised his vision to her there was an idea written in his features. "I did promise to return with you, some day," Yero thought fondly back to the days of his youth, with love blossoming on the banks of the lazy river. A crooked grin crossed the male's maw as he remembered Whinn teaching him to fish.

"Perhaps now is the time..?" He licked his inky muzzle ponderously. Selia's pups had for the most part grown up, many wandering off on their own. The pack was not as strong as when it first started out, but it looked like it was once again gaining members. Perhaps it was a time of change, a time to cross borders. Yero wagged his tail, warm eyes searching his mate's. "We could try it alone for a while, give the alphas our blessing and try a change of pace?" He paused to see how she was recieving him, if he was headed in the right direction.

Lesotho
Whinn's eyes followed that of the ebony male's as they danced from her face to elsewhere. He was thinking about what she said, obviously. She had the impulse to let her gaze fall away from him, but instead she kept her head steady, her eyes lingering on him. There was an inner longing for his company that had been growing over the past few days... she didn't really know how to explain it. Perhaps their planning would go well, now... maybe they'd be able to go back to their old home, or at least he could console her in staying here. At the remembrance of a promise, she perked from her thoughts. Yes yes! Now would be the time if any!

"I'd like that... a lot." She said, realizing what he was proposing. She didn't really know all that much about him, but the pack happenings had sort of left the pack with a feeling of a new beginning. She didn't quite feel they fit anymore. Yero seemed to be having some inner turmoil regarding Selia and her pups which were wandering off now. Oh, how she longed for pups... And yet she didn't even realize this inner desire. Maybe they could flee today... they'd be back home to the river by tomorrow if they went now and didn't stop. Back beneath those familiar trees and alongside the bank where the fish swam free, fat and waiting to be eaten. Yes, that would be wonderful.

Tweek
Whinn wanted it, and so it would be. "Then it's settled," Yero nodded slowly, his eyes once again losing hers in a thought. This would be quite a change of pace, and it would take getting used to, but the idea was attractive. The pack was still young, and the volitile dynamics kept the inky wolf uneasy. He had stayed because of his devotion to Selia and had adjusted accordingly as a guardian, but he had never connected to the other wolves save Hige, who had departed moons ago. He canted his ears towards Whinn and locked his vision on her cloudy rain-mist eyes.

"Love, could I beg a couple hours to tie up loose ends?" He gave her cheek a tender lick, hoping she would understand. "I will meet you here again at dusk. We can begin our journey in twilight's safety." His midnight tail wagged at the the thought of traveling under the moon, alone save for his beloved.

Yero wanders off to think about his future before leaving with Whinn for the freelands. He runs into his 'little' brother Hige!
Tweek
Pitchy paws beat silently against the cooling earth, Yero had never lost his knack for silence. The compact male padded down an unfamiliar worn deer path, his oddly feathered ears tilted slightly back against his pate, and his head low to the ground. It wasn't an omega's gait, one could tell from his bushy tail that trailed behind him like a banner, but it was obvious that the raven wolf was in deep thought.

Alone! He and Whinn would be setting out on their own. A quiet thrill pulsed through his veins. He would miss his surrogate mother, but he was a grown wolf now. Whinn talked of starting a family.. Yero's heart sang. It would be difficult, just the two of them, no pack to nurse their children, but safe on the banks of the lazy river, what harm could come to carefully watched pups? And he would watch them carefully. Yero puffed up unwitingly. Why, he may not be a natural father figure, but those pups would be the most protected in the world. His red eyes clouded with the promise of the future.

And such were his thoughts as a familiar scent reached his nostrils. Yero flicked his ears forward and raised his head. Could that be...?

Tahja Estes
It was! Hige had finally returned to his packlands with the new members in tow-- to put it any old way --and now the Alpha was patrolling the area outside of the borders to see if any wolves had passed that way, and how close, at that. His nose was working for once. Hige had a finely tuned sense of smell, perhaps to balance the fact that he didn't usually move as silently as he could in his younger days. his mountain size made it a little more difficult to move casually about undetected in a forest full of snapping twigs. He could be silent when it came time to hunt, however, so it suited him fine.

In any case, having a sensitive nose made the job of "patrol and scout" much quicker, much easier.

He emerged from the shadows of further off, becoming more visible as he grew closer. Anyone that knew Hige would immeditately recognize the band around his neck, the odd marking that he bore which made him unmistakeable for anyone else.

"Yero?"

Tweek
Yero's ears flattened in surprise and his eyes widened at the sight of his 'little' brother materializing from a swath of shadows. Was that great brute really...? But how could it be anyone else. After a couple seconds of stupor, the smaller male lunged from his frozen pose, bouncing towards the other in an undignified dance. "Hige!" He barked in his rumbly voice, buffeting the other's shoulder with his forhead. "It is you! Little brother, how you've grown!" Skidding back a step, he halted, flashing his friend a sardonic grin as his dark plume began to wag in a welcoming way.

Tahja Estes
"Yeah, it's me alright. Talk about growth spurts, huh?" He asked, sheepishly at that. Grinning as Yero bounded forward, Hige took a few delighted steps to a side and foward of his own, partially circling his brother. His tail wagged like a raised flag, wuffing a few low barks. "How long has it been? What brings you down this way?"

Tweek
Yero flicked his ears towards Hige, his pink tongue lolling lazily as he settled himself on inky haunches. He'd always had a habit of seating himself when talking to others, not to mentioned it helped with the view. Yero couldn't help but feel as if he was looking straight up his nose at his massive brother. "Since you first set out with Loki and Thayne," He answered the rhetoric without thinking. "My, don't you look like quite the alpha," Yero noted Hige's raised brush of a tail, and the easygoing swagger that he had seen signs of when the male was young. The black wolf shook his head with a low chuckle. There was his brother for you. The tan wolf had a way of setting others at ease with his happy-go-lucky personality. Yero himself was delighted for the distraction. Hige offered an outlet he hadn't been able to develop with other members of the pack.

"I was just off on a wander. Whinn's talking about leaving the pack tonight, setting out on our own. I guess I just wanted to give this place one last look before we left. And you? Finally coming up for a visit?" He quirked an impish brow.

Tahja Estes
"Just a week or so after the pups were born, right?" Hige grinned, remembering exactly now. He stepped back a pace and settled onto his stomach, a most comfortable pose for him, especially when talking to old friends or family. He'd felt at ease with Yero right from the second meeting, the first being when he was a pup, with that uncertainty. They hadn't been brothers then, really, as Hige was still just new to the lands. "You think? I don't know, it feels like a pretty stuffy title if you ask me." He joked with a crooked expression.

Hige would've given just about anything to hear that someone other than Loki saw any kind of alpha in him. He'd been struggling with the title since a few days after arriving at what was now their home. It wasn't that he didn't accept it, it was just hard to figure if he was doing things right, sometimes. Maybe he wasn't aggressive enough, maybe he was too easy going, he'd only ever been around the most somber of alphas for the entire better half of his life. All this, "dignity, pride, leadership, honor, and responsibility" got to him from time to time, like maybe he was just fooling himself.

"Sort of. I'm just trying to get used to this pack business, we've had a spectator role for most of it, y'know? What about you? Getting your own place, huh?" Smirk. >3 "Translation: When do I get to be an uncle?" Smiiiiirk. >D

Tweek
"Don't even think about it," Yero said of the title with a smile. "It seems to me that it should be a fluid concept. Whoever steps up into it brings their own strengths and it adjusts acordingly," The black wolf cocked his head with a smile. "Either way, I figure the best way to tell is look at the kind of wolves that follow you," He beat his tail gently against the earth, letting his point sink in. He hoped the younger wolf would hear it.

"Our own place?" He chuckled. "I guess you could say that. We're hoping to go back to our old den in the north. Whinn longs for pups, and I'll admit, I do too, though I'm not sure what kind of father I'd make..."

Tahja Estes
Hige certainly appreciated the wise words and advice, just as strongly as he'd longed to hear them. He let his tail wag a bit behind him with it flopping from side to side now. Hey, his brother did have a point!

"We'll have to come see you guys on our next stop by the freelands, then. If you guys ever want to come visit us, too, you're welcome to." He had not learned of the river that Whinn claimed, or he would have known to mention that it probably fed into their main source of water. "I'm pretty sure it's just like taking on a new rank, you don't think about it." He grinned a bit. "You just do what comes naturally. I think that any daughters of yours will have a time trying to bring suitors home,"

Now his grin was good natured teasing, watching his elder brother turn the idea of pups over in his mind. Hige and Loki also wanted a family, and if it hadn't been for the fact that they hadn't suceeded yet they would probably not leave their lands for weeks!

"I can't blame you guys for wanting runts of your own, me and Loki are after a litter ourselves. I think she's more set on it than me, though, she's exactly like mom, you know?"

Tweek
"But of course! I would love to bring Whinn to visit your pack once we have settled." Yero nodded, liking the idea. "I have often wondered what the ocean is like. Is it true you cannot see beyond?" The black wolf shook his head, trying to imagine a body of water so big.

Yero slid down onto his stomach, momentarily nonplussed by Hige's comment. The fact that his brother could already see visions of Yero's pups when Yero himself had hardly dared to imagine made it all the more real. A daughter.. would Yero truly have a daughter? The idea seemed too grand for words. Yero momentarily pictured his young and Hige's own pups as playmates someday and a secretive smile spread across his face. He chuckled and said: "And if I have any daughters or sons for that matter I'll bring them as well. How's that?"

He couldn't help but laugh as Hige talked of the weakness for pups Loki shared with Selia. "Females," He joked with mock-pompous bluster. "Can't help but love the pups, can they?"

Tahja Estes
A belt of laughter followed up on the end of Yero's replies. It was out of amusement, hope, as well as joy. The idea of being an uncle was a plesant one, Hige had a soft spot for pups that he was related to, be it by blood or by adoption. He just would not so readily admit to that, lest he get teased.

"Of course they can't, especially when they had adorable little buggers like us wandering around! And yeah, it's hard to believe, but wait till you see it with your own eyes. It just goes on for miles!" Hige smirked a bit lopsidedly thinking about it. Everyone generally had the same reaction when hearing about the sea, and it was interesting information that he rather enjoyed sharing just for the shock-value. His smirk melted back into a wolven grin, jaws pulling back to let his tongue flop loose. "Yeah, 'dad'," Hige looked a bit more cheeky, falling into the game of teasing again. "bring the youngin's! I'll be curious to see how much of a spitting image they are to you and momma' dear."

At this point his grin calmed slightly, and he moved to flop onto his side and look up at his brother lazily. The sun bled through the leaves of the trees soaking his pelt with splotches of light. It was then that old, old scars were visible on his side, just barely. Testiment to his scuffle with Garaa all those weeks ago. The two were on at least tolerable terms now, but it had been ages since Hige or Loki saw the youth. His mate was hoping to see them visit soon with news of their pack.

Tweek
Yero gave a first class snigger as he and Hige shared the joke. It seemed a little out of character for him, but the black wolf couldn't help it. After a moment of slight hesitation, Yero, perhaps feeling emboldened by his brother's sly grin and all this talk of the future, started again in a more 'confidential' tone. "Well.. come to mention it, Whinn and I have.. um.." He broke off into a foolish grin. "--I'm beginning to think she might be expecting.. though she hasn't told me anything, yet."

The black male ducked his head down with a sheepish sort of pride. When he glanced back up though, he saw the testaments to old wounds on his brother's coat. His eyes hardened a little and he asked in a serious tone: "Hige, have you been hurt?"

Yero meets Sandor and almost gets in a fight. The two calm down, but Sandor does not speak and Yero remains confused on the other's origins.

***Note: Sandor's character has been remapped so it's as if this RP never took place

Tweek
Ever-light footsteps winding up a well worn deer path, Yero made his way towards a favorite old haunt, a secluded corner of the Freelands. The father-to-be was still on a natural high, and his inward joy was reflected in his arced tail and jaunt step. The word Pups! had taken up permanent residence in the back of his mind, and the raven wolf had never felt more confident. Pitchy ears cupped, alert, Yero filled his nostrils with the pungent new-spring air, registering lingering scents of new wolves. The black wolf slowed his pace to a trot, pink tongue lolling from it's cage of ivory teeth. The woods had changed since he'd last been here. He had to be prepared for encounters, just in case.

Jean-Paul
A second set of jaunty footfalls moved in time with the raven wolf's, though their source was oblivious to company as of yet. One had to relieve the boredom of a patrol somehow and Sandor had just caught himself a rat. He could have finished off the little body with only a crunch or two, but he kept tossing it into the air and catching it again, throwing it over his shoulder, high into the air, and generally enjoying himself.

Tweek
Yero swiveled his ears back in consideration as one scent became clearer than the rest. After a moment, he was certain another was coming his way. A male, it was, and younger than himself. That was all that the black wolf could discern. Still, that was no reason not to be cautious. Yero trotted forward to head off the male, stumbling across the other in a spacious clearing. Yero dipped his muzle politely to pinkish wolf with fuschia markings. "Greetings, stranger. Are these lands claimed?" His eerie red eyes stared at the male calmly, and he offered up a small smile.

Jean-Paul
The other skidded to a halt, kicking up dead leaves and a fine shower of dirt. He flattened his ears and rumbled a growl low in his chest, a warning for the unnatural not-pack to keep his distance more than outright agression.

Tweek
Yero noted the younger wolf's catch, and attributed the growl to the fact that he had come across the lavender wolf at a bad time. Still.. something about the other's nature made him uneasy. Had this wolf seen many other wolves in his time? He certainly showed signs of being antisocial. Yero could only guess, but that was not what was foremost on his mind. Though he was slightly larger than the other male, the black wolf took a couple steps backward. He wanted no conflict as was prepared to flee rather than put himself in danger. If he were injured in an accident who would take care of his pups?

"I'm not looking for a fight." He tilted his ears back slightly in a sign of peace, but the muscles in his legs were tensed, his tail held out still behind him. He was ready to run if he needed.

Jean-Paul
The other wolf continued his soft growling. He did not advance, but he didn't show any signs of backing down either. The wind changed, ruffled through the fur of both wolves, and swept a host of alien scents across Yero's nose, some savory, but most wholly unpleasant and acrid . All were laced with smoke, as if this one spent a lot of his time on the edges of a fire.

Tweek
Yero's tail curled slightly as he inhaled the foreign scent. His ears flicked back momentarily, unnerved. It was commen for him so smell various unknown scents on other wolves, but this one was particularly arcane. Never had this fragrance been mixed with that of a wolf in Yero's mind. Only...a two-legs. And that was a very long time ago.

The midnight wolf hesitated only slightly before surrendering control of the entire situation. If this had been a regular wolf, he might not have backed down so easily, but Yero was the diplomatic sort, and more importantly, the human smell required more caution than usual. He was still ready to run if need be.

"Do you..." Yero found himself awkwardly confused, and it showed in his voice. "Do you... travel with the two-legs?" It was a shot in the dark, but Yero had heard stories of wolves being domesticated.

Jean-Paul
The soft, bass rumble in the other wolf's chest built to a fierce snarling. His ears pressed forward, his thick ruff standing up in a full display of aggression. The black-rimmed, orange eyes narrowed as the strager's tail went up.

Tweek
Yero stood taut, strung like a bow. "I have no quarrel with you, stranger." He spoke, trying to keep his voice low, but it rose a pitch in the middle before he could bring it down again. He could feel the tension mount, and found himself lost in the strange lavender wolf's dark gold eyes. Memories from his childhood came flooding back, similar gold eyes, a barrage of aged fear and thoughts of malice grating against his psyche. He hadn't been challenged by a male ever since that day...

The aggression radiating off the other rippled through Yero's system like a jolt of electricity. The thick feathers of fur flanking his neck began to p***k, one after another, until his ruff too stood on end, his muzzle wrinkling in a faint snarl. His black ears flattened against his skull in a last ditch effort to appease the other, but something told him the situation had gone too far...

Jean-Paul
The adolescent must have noted the stance...but instead of pressing, he whined softly and backed off. More than anything else, the striped male seemed uncertain. He paced in place for a few moments, then turned as if to flee.

Tweek
The black wolf was worked up, there was no doubt about it. His nerves were shot from the long nights at his mate's side and the knowledge that soon he would have an entire family to watch over. But the aggression that prickled his ruff stilled momentarily at the other's whine. Though Yero showed signs of danger, he truly did not want blood to spill, either his or the stranger's. He did not want to make an enemy at this point in his life. He wasn't much bigger than the violet striped wolf, the other would probably outgrow him when he grew out of adolesence, and the midnight wolf could not bear the thought of an adversary even close to the pups that would be born.

His shaggy mane still bristling slightly, Yero hung back. Maybe he could save the situation by catching the other offguard. "I am called Yero. Have you a name?"

Jean-Paul
The other wolf shuffled back again, but at least he didn't react with aggression to the sound of another wolf's voice. He turned and began trotting away quickly, as if he suspected pursuit or trickery.

Tweek
Yero tilted his head, puzzled. The other wolf, seemingly so threatening at first, appeared to be fleeing now. His body relaxed more, losing it's signs of agression, though he was ready to perk up again should the volitile stranger change his disposition. "Are you mute, lad? Where are you from?" The last question was asked almost in urgency. He had to know if the other was a loner wandering through or was making his home in these lands or planning to. If the latter, he'd have to be on the lookout for him in the future.

Yero meets River, who helps him bring down a deer to bring back to his family
Tweek
Yero padded with a spring in his usual quiet footsteps through a small copse of pine trees in the Southern tip of the Freelands. The raven black wolf with bright red eyes tossed his head to inhale the spring breeze. Normally he would not stray from his den, especially now that his pups had been born, but new mouths to feed required a healthy mother, and Yero wondered if he might be able to catch a sickly deer or fawn to bring down and take back to the riverside.

Remove
River had gone wandering away from the pack for a while. She needed to get out and have a break. Time away from Realin was always welcome she didn't mind the pack just that one wolf she was starting to hate and she wasn't one to hate easily.

Now away from the pack she could eat and do as she wished for a while. Always a good thing. To be free. Hunger and thirst drove her to head towards a river where she could have a nice cool drink.

Tweek
A scent of a female registered in Yero's mind as the breeze tickled his nostrils once again. A curious wolf by nature, the pitchy male decided to investigate. He perked his ears forward and fell into a light trot, following the scent trail to the bank of the familiar river. Yero stopped when he say the other's figure bent over, taking a drink of the clear running water. "Hullo," He announced himself, tilting his head slightly in inspection. His voice was low, and rumbled, but his red gaze was warm.

Remove
She had just to have a drink and great another wolf. She sighed and raised her head turning around. Her personality had changed alot since shehad joined Reichers pack. She had actually grown up.

"Hello." She spoke rather softly though she was maybe a little too alert. Her head tilted to one side slightly her eyes looked over the male wolf.

Tweek
Yero caught the hint of agitation in her sigh and he let his ears tilt back slightly in an attempt to make the other feel more at ease. Somehow he had the feeling that the female wasn't too glad to see him. He wondered if she was previously irked, but instead of stirring up conflict before he knew where he stood, said simply: "I'm sorry, have I wandered into claimed lands?"

Remove
She looked a little shocked at his question. Did she come across that bad? oh dear..
"No I have left my pack for a while. Sorry I guess I thought you were one of them." She smiled at him calming down a little. It didn't look as if he were about to attack her or anything major.

Tweek
He smiled back a bit, ears twitching forward again as some of the tension seeped out of the air between them. "A coincidence," He mused in good humor. "I've recently left my pack for a bit as well. My mate and I've returned to our childhood home to raise our children. We're even contemplating starting a pack of our own," Yero shrugged his shoulders, then realized he'd been rambling. He shook his head lightly at himself with a snort. "The other pack.. I fit in with the others well enough, I suppose, but it just didn't feel like home," The male seated himself on his inky haunches, curling his tail about his flank.

Remove
She listened intensly. She wouldn't ever want to really leave her pack not unless it came to her having children because she didn't trust Reicher and he would probably kill them or something. "Oh I left to get some space. I will go back mainly for Ran. I have a feeling she isn't liked much by her parents and I don't want to see any harm come to her." She sighed and looked up at the sky. "Whats your name? I am River." She smiled at him thinking about Ran. She did love that pup and wished no harm to come to her.

Tweek
Yero gave a nod. Judging from River's words, Ran sounded like a pup. "It's good that you would take care of Ran if the young one's parents would not." The male cracked a fond smile as well as his thoughts strayed to pups, and his own children appeared in his mind's eye, lightenng his mood further. "I'm Yero. It's a pleasure, River. Have you been in these woods for long? It's been a while since I strayed as far as the Freelands..."

Remove
River looked him over again and thought that he would make a nice Alpha, maybe one day. "I came here a couple of days ago with Ran so that her mother could have a rest from her. I dont come out often. Its safer to stay in the pack." She wasn't quite sure if that was totally true but it would do for now.

Tweek
Yero nodded, his brow furrowing slightly. In his mind he had glossed over the dangers of the woods, but the female was right, in one aspect at least. Despite however welcoming the Freelands seemed in Yero's old memories, there were hazards to be found. He made a note to himself to keep a close watch on the pups should they journey North anytime soon. Changing the subject, Yero asked: "Do you know of any good game-trails nearby? I actually came here to look for some food..." He figured River would know better than he, having been in the Freelands more recently than himself.

Remove
She smiled at what he said. Hunting she loved it. "Yeah the herd will be coming to the river soon. As it gets late they come down for a drink. always a good time because some go into the water so you scatter the rest and get them or whatever!" She smiled quite widely at being able to be so helpful. She was here waiting as well and lucky enough they were downwind so the herd would not be able to smell them.

Tweek
Yero wagged his tail, licking his whiskers, as he focused his bloodred eyes to the opposite bank. "Perfect timing, then." He rose to his feet to stretch his muscles in preparation. "I'm afraid I'm a little out of practice. We've been pretty much living off fish from the river for the past couple weeks," He showed his white teeth in a sheepish wolfy grin.

Remove
River smiled, "Its ok. I love hunting and do when ever I can!" She smiled as she turned and faced the otherside of the bank. It shouldn't be too long now. Well she hoped not anyway. She was getting hungry.

Tweek
Yero followed River's gaze back to the bank, watching in silence for a few moments. Finally, a flash of movement caught his eye and his muscles tensed. The herd was trickling down the hill on the other side of the river to get their evening drinks, just as the other had said they would. Relinquishing his pride in light of River's better deer-hunting skill, he muttered quietly: "I'll wait for your signal."

Remove
River smiled she loved being in charge of things it suited her perfectly. She motioned for him to follow as she entered the water slowly so not to make a sound or ripple. She had perfected this as she was born by water it was something she had been taught. It was perfect way of getting to the deer that were slowly entering the water like they always did. Typical things she smiled as the thought flashed through her mind. She reached the other bank and stopped waiting for the other.

Tweek
Skilled at catching fish, Yero was also used to moving as quietly as possible through water. Luckily, this was a shallow part of the great river, so he didn't have to swim, which might have strirred up more water than wanted. His legs finding rocky purchase underwater, his dark form slinked through the water to catch up with River at the other side of the bank. He sunk low in the shallows, ready to make his move.

Remove
She climbed out the water as she watched a couple of the deer enter the water and wade out quite a way. She was grateful that these animals were stupid and always went as a herd otherwise they would have the brain to get out the otherside of the river but she didn't mind. Letting her fur drip onto the grass she lowered her body, tensing her muscles ready to run along the edge of the river. Hopefully they will scatter like normal and the two wolves would bring one down pretty quick.

Tweek
As River sprung, the deer bolted in every direction, a couple fleeing into the water as predicted. Catching sight of one deer in particular, an old buck who stumbled in the shallows, Yero leapt up onto the bank and made a herding loop around the deer so as to drive him further into the water. Keeping the deer at bay, he waited for River to wage an attack.

Remove
River turned to see what he was doing and was happy to see him singeling out a deer. It was great. She turned away from the rest of the herd and ran towards the old buck. She leapt at it her claws hitting his side and knocking it over. Hunting in water was great they drowned pretty quick.

Tweek
Yero leapt into the river once again to join the female in holding the deer. Leaping atop the buck he added his wait to River's, rumbling instinctively in his chest as they held the poor beast underwater, it's legs flailing weakly against the current. Yero's soft growling continued until the old deer stopped struggling. Panting, the soggy black wolf looked to his companion. "I think he's finished," He wuffed, and sunk his teeth into the fur at the back of the deer's neck to start hauling it out of the water.

Remove
River nodded and sank her teeth into the dead animal to help heave it out. At least it was clean! She smiled her stomach was protesting as it hadn't been fed for a while. Food would be good at the moment, any food would be. She loved hunting.

Tweek
When the two wolves had hauled the carcass out of the water, Yero gave a deep sigh of content. He sat down beside the body and motioned to it with his muzzle. "Go ahead and eat your fill. I'll take the rest back to my mate." The male wagged his tail. He was grateful for River's help.
Remove
She smiled and started to eat her fill. She wouldn't eat much but then she never really did. she ate enough to last her a few days but not too much that she felt bloated. She was happy to have hunted again it gave her something to do.

Tweek
"Thanks for your help," Yero wuffed as River filled herself on the warm venison. "My family will greatly appreciate it," As the female came to a finish, Yero regarded the darkening twilight sky.

Remove
She inished her meal and smiled. She hadn't eaten much and as he kept saying family she guessed that he had children. The lucky guy. "Ok I am done. Its all yours now!" She smiled as she turned to leave guessing he would want to be alone now.

Tweek
Yero bent down, secretly glad that River had lightened his load a bit, and slung the remains over his shoulder. "You are welcome in our lands any time, River, my friend. We are just to the south," Yero smiled, bidding the female a warm farewell, before starting on his way back to his den.

Yero meets Helaku and runs into River once again in the freelands.

Tamiko-chan
An adult form shifted through the brush of the forest. He wasn't necessarily trying to hide himself, for his fur was bright yellow and so stood out in even the lightest of places. It wasn't a disadvantage really, but just a challenge that made him have different hunting techniques than most. Some with brown or green fur could hide in their surroundings and so sneak up easily and without much hassle. But Laku.. he had to move slower than others and even quieter.

Don't turn around, don't turn around, he said in his head. He was stalking a hare that was searching around for food. It seemed that it wasn't finding much where it was and so was about to go elsewhere.. elsewhere being in his direction. If it turned around, he would have to chase it, though that wasn't much of a problem. He loved running, yet for some reason he seemed a little on the lazy side today.

So the gamma placed each paw with the grace of a cat and the weight of a mouse, hoping he wouldn't be spotted by the rabbit... or possibly another wolf that might want to take his meal..
Tweek
Oblivious to the other, a black shadow was similarly approaching from the opposite direction. Body slunk low to the ground, a relatively compact black wolf padded cautiously on the new grass. His dark raven fur provided him with ample camouflage in the pockets of black and green shadows cast by the thick foliage. Unwittingly, his red eyes were fized upon the same target as Helaku's. Suddenly, a sunburst of spring yellow in the corner of his eye caught his attention, and he almost stumbled in surprise. It was another wolf. Yero quietly backed off, not looking to start a conflict, and stilled himself to complete silence, eyes now fixed upon the yellow wolf, watching him.

Remove
River was wandering she wasn't hungry her meal that she had the day before still had her full. Her stomach was rather small which in some ways made her quite lucky in other ways quite weak. She had caught a scent of hare but had ignored it for a couple of reasons. One being the scent of another wolf and the other, she just wasn't hungry.

She had not gone back to her pack yet which may have been a bad move on her part but they couldn't do anything to her while she wasn't their could they? No it wasn't possible. Well she hoped not.

Her brown pelt was well hidden in these parts. She loved forests they were full of cover for her. Even her markings didn't show her up in these parts. Here she could just be happy. Away from the stress of trying to out do others and away from the mini Reichers. A rest is what she needed.

Looking around a little more she got bored. Meeting another wolf wouldn't be too bad would it? She decided it was a good move to make and started to head towards the scent of the wolf and hare.

Tamiko-chan
Laku's tail flicked this way and that, though he was careful to make sure that it didn't make any sound on some bush or plant. He was getting closer and closer by the second and still didn't see the other, the black of his pelt making him blend nicely with the shadows. There was no scent of him that was revealed to the yellow's nose as Helaku was upwind of Yero.

Closer stil... suddenly he sprang forward and crashed into the hare that was his prey. He had used the classic move of using one's body weight to kill prey and earn an easy meal. Smiling to himself as he got up, the wolf seemed happy with his meal. Then, as he picked it up then went to go back to his sister's den, he spotted a pair of red eyes that were watching him.

The gamma's head lowered slightly as he blinked back, wondering if this new wolf was wanting to steal his meal.

Tweek
Yero held his stance, but flicked an ear in acknowledgement of Laku's 'right of way'. The black wolf would politely wait until the other had made his move before aproaching him. Even Yero didn't trust his feet to stay light and silent when prey was at stake, especially prey that 'belonged' to someone else, or he might have backed off. He swept the air with his nose. Being downwind from Laku he registered the other's scent, then caught a more familiar smell on the breeze. The female River, who had helped him in a hunt yesterday was close by.

When the other pounced, killing the lanky hare swiftly, Yero moved a couple steps forward, but his posture was far from threatening. He offered a smile. "Sorry about that, there,"

Remove
She continued walking towards the two wolves suddenly moving into a trot. She was impatient and wanted to know who else was around.

As she got nearer the scent of the familiar wolf hit her. She saw him and smiled then turned to the other wolf with the hare in his mouth. Forgetting that wolves get protective over food she walked over to the strange male and smiled at him. "Hello! I am River!" She tilted her head to one side curiously. She was a bubbly girl, always seemed to be happy.

Tamiko-chan
Helaku eyed the black wolf warily, knowing very well that some wolves would put on a nice act to get close and steal someone else's food. If that's what this wolf had in mind, he had a different thing coming. He was hungry and this hare belonged to him, fair and square. Yet for some reason the non-threatening posture was convincing and so the yellow's muscles loosened and relaxed.

Yet when River walked right up to him and introduced himself, he took a step backwards. He hadn't known any wolves that were this bubbly or open to strangers, so it was fairly new to him. Yet he didn't want to be rude. This was a female after all and she didn't seem like she had bad intentions.

So, placing his catch on the ground, he first nodded to Yero since he was the first one Laku had seen. "That's alright.. I didn't notice you were there, otherwise I might have gone for a different hare." Then his gaze flickered to the femme and her natural coat. He envied her at that moment, but it soon faded away. A smile crossed his maw as he replied, "Nice to meet you River, I am Helaku." He then looked back to Yero, wondering if the male would share his name as well.

Tweek
Yero backed off a couple steps when he realized the tension he was causing and let his ears cant back in a gesture of peace. "Hullo, again," He wuffed to River, giving her a nod. As she and Helaku introduced themselves Yero kept his silence, but when the spring colored male turned his gaze on Yero expectantly he spoke up, dipping his muzzle to Laku. "I'm Yero. I'm new in these lands." Well, it was half-true. The Freelands had changed since Yero had left barely more than a pup to join Selia's pack in the South.

Remove
River say down with a wide smile on her face. She dipped her maw at Yero and then looked back at the strangely coloured male. "Sorry if I frightened you or anything!" She looked down at the hare and couldn't help but laugh. There was no reason for it she was just immature about alot of things. She could be classed as having mild Skizophrenia(sp?) with the way she seemed to talk to herself occasionally and change personality. Then again it could just be because she had Reicher as an alpha.

Tamiko-chan
The yellow wolf dipped his head respectfully as Yero introduced himself. "Nice to meet you Yero." He then tilted his head slightly as the black one said that he was new to these lands. Yet he seemed to know River.. maybe he wasn't actually new.. just not used to these lands or something. Whatever the case, though, he was pleased to meet them. The more friends the better he thought.

Then he turned his attention back to River. She seemed a little.. not crazy, but not really sane either. It was a weird concept in his head and it hurt for him to try and figure it out. So he just shook his head and acted as if it was part of his words. "That's okay.. you didn't really scare me as surprise me really." At that point the rabbit between his forepaws was forgotten, though his hungry wasn't really.

One of Yero's ears flicked back in faint surprise at River's sudden laughter, but the male kept his face a deadpan. Even if the female was a little strange, he knew her heart was good. He'd seen as much when she'd helped him yesterday. Her social skills may have been similar to a pup's but she knew how to bring down a deer, that was for sure.

"You too," He rumbled to Laku with a slightly shy smile as he bowed his head again. As a pup, and even an adolescent, Yero had been frightened of other males, but the fear had faded as the wolf had seasoned. Still, with all wolves it was good to be cautious, and even if Yero's actions seemed dated, he prefered to stick to chivalry. "Is this your home?" He questioned Laku, warm red eyes studying the other.

River smiled at them both and then suddenly laid down with her maw on her paws. Her eyes were darting between the two males. She was a strange one. She sniffed at the Hare but soon turned away she wasn't hungry, just curious.

Her ears suddenly perked up as Yero asked about Laku. She was curious and nosy. She wanted to know everything though it would never be possible. Watching while being on the ground was always good for her, she was very trusting though to even think about laying down near a strange wolf.

Tamiko-chan
Helaku cocked his head at River. She certainly was a strange one, yet if it allowed her to be relaxed around him he was fine. He really didn't like it or feel comfortable if someone was tense and uncomfortable around him. He liked it when the mood was easygoing and friendly.

But his thoughts were interrupted when Yero asked whether his home was around here or not. An ear flicked to the side slightly before he answered. "My sister's den is around here.. but pretty soon our pack will be moving to different lands. For now we just rest here.. don't really own the land though."

The yellow's tail wagged at this, just the thought of being in a pack with his friends bringing him joy.
