((********, this is so overdue it ain't funny. gonk ))
"Hey Flitch? I need you to do me a favor."
Flitch nodded, looking up at Anvion, who had a wrinkled and yellowing piece of paper held in her hand. "Sure. What is it?"
Handing him the yellow paper, Anvion shrugged. "Nothing too much. I'd forgotten about this, but I need you to take the twins out to the library with you today... for that kid's day you mentioned to me. Think you can take them there for an hour or two?"
Taking the paper, Flitch scanned the note of their quest with a small frown. "Sure... it seems easy. What should I bring back?"
"Anything, really. Doesn't matter."
---------
Twenty minutes later, Flitch was at the library with both the twins. Amaris seemed to be highly offended that HE was forced to be in the presence of these whiny, bratty, screaming... things. Walter, on the other hand, seemed to be rather amused at the children, and was happily interacting with some other friendly children who, despite being older and bigger than the half-vampiric Tenjutsu, seemed to enjoy his presence.
"Hey!" one called, rolling a ball over towards Walter. "Why don't you bring your friend over... the winged one?"
Oh, Amaris? Walter bobbed his head, turning to glance over his shoulder at Amaris, who was stubbronly seated by Flitch, glaring at everyone who even DARED approach him. "Aaaaaam-ris!"
Amaris, upon hearing his name being called by his 'twin', glanced over. Were they finally gonna go fromt his stupid thing? These people were stupid and annoying. But if they were to go, wasn't Flitch going to-
His thought was broken off as Walter smacked the ball, rolling it towards him. Oh. He wanted to play. Fine, fine. Walter did seem to be having lots of fun, after all...
Frowning in concentration, he smacked the ball back towards Walter, crawling over after him almost indignantly. Walter let out a screech of delight. YAY! He'd convinced Amaris to come over! Now things were to be fun!
"Aaaam-ris," he cooed happily, tugging playfully on Amaris' single wing. Amaris HATED having his wing touched, he knew, but he liked it. It was so soft and feathery! Plus Amaris had yet to take offense to him touching the wing. "In-duce." Drawing himself up proudly, he pointed to the three kids whom he'd already managed to befriend. "Kell," he said, pointing to a girl by the name of Kelly. "Tom---Tommas." he continued, pointing to Thomas, a half-elf who grinned and waved at Amaris. Amaris only frowned in response. "An' Shi."
There. He'd introduced everyone. Walter nodded proudly, rolling the ball to Shi, a tall girl with blonde pigtails. She laughed, rolling the ball around the circle. Walter giggled at Amaris, who was growing interested in the game despite his best attempts to remain aloof. He knew Amaris too well. He wouldn't stay all grumpy for long.
And indeed he was right. Within the next five minutes, Amaris was giggling and playing roll-the-ball with the others just as if he'd been doing it from the beginning.
Alas, after what only seemed to be a short while, Flitch had to break the fun. "Sorry, but it's time to head home," he said. "But first--"
He held two balloons, one in each hand. There had been a large bunch, and kids had been taking balloons for themselves all day. Flitch was no exception, though he'd gotten them for Amaris and Walter instead of himself. He handed them each one- Walter a red one, and Amaris a yellow one. They both seemed pleased with their new presents. After all, YOU try naming an infant who didn't go beserk with joy upon recieving a balloon.
"Hope you like 'em," Flitch said with a small laugh, though it seemed that they already were all but overjoyed. "Anyways, it's time to head back. Say bye to your friends."
"Baaaaai~" Walter said, waving reluctantly to his new friends. He didn't wanna go, but Flitch was boss.
"Taa," Amaris said, also waving. Awww, and he was just getting into it, too!
All three friends smiled, waving and saying their good-byes as well. Seeing the glum looks on the twins' faces, they laughed. "Don't worry," Kelly said. "We can come here and play ball again in the future!"
