Anise beamed. "Ice cream!" She said with delight, deciding right there that Mari was definitely awesome, and not just for her ear fins. Even better was the fact that since Touda was invisible, he wouldn't get any ice cream! In a gesture of sheer generosity never before seen, Anise offered Tok to Mari. "You can hold him if you want to."
Touda stuck his tongue out at Anise, it was clear that a large part of her glee was because nobody could see him. Then he stuck his tongue out at Devan, too, as it was clear the man was trying to see him. Maybe even actually kind of seeing him.
Charlie glanced at his two charges going off with strangers and then smiled, leaning back in his lounge chair. Never let it be said he was anything other than neglecting when it came down to it.

Mari stared in wonder at the stuffed animal offered to her, knowing from one of Kit's grumpy roommates just how possessive people could be about such things. But, she had been given permission, after all, and when was the next chance that she'd get to hold a Tok? So, with a carefully-restrained exuberance she reached out a hand, grasping at the toy, then looked up at Devan with a light smile on her face.
"Can we put Swedish Fish on the ice-cream?" asked Mari, her ear-fins flapping in inquiry.
"Sure thing: I've got a box back with Kit," Devan replied, ushering the girls out of the pool. "Now come on, before Kit realizes I'm getting you the real deal instead of frozen yogurt."
Mari followed behind her guardian obediently, but not before looking back at Anise with a smile, gently clutching at the damp stuffed animal. Yep, between her and Fish, she was pretty sure this whole having friends thing was going to work out.
