I dress in sort of a mix between Victorian aristocrat, explorer, and airship pirate. Maybe with a little vampire hunter thrown in.

In real life, I run around with sandals, shorts, a plain button up shirt, and a fedora. I have 2 fedoras, one of them a dark, floppy one, and the other a nice stiff one with a light grey color. If it's hot out, I sometimes wear a cap -- not a baseball cap, but the type of cap that has the flat top kind of like an army cap but with a baseball cap style bill. I expect that I come off as a cross between a stoner, a hipster, and a frat boy, none of which describe me in the least.
If I manage to cobble together a steampunk outfit for real life, there'd at least be a vest and boots, my pocketwatch, and maybe one of those newsboy/Irish caps. Dress shirt under the vest, sleeves rolled up. Some sort of a coat for the cooler days, and preferably the boots having some length up the calf that I could tuck the pants into.

Steampunk: Depends on the mood. 1) Western styled Engineer Pilot 2) Victorian Ragamuffin / Hooligan

In My Mind: Something between Quigley in "Quigey Down Under" (a movie about a cowboy in Australia) and a comic book villian (it's more fun to be the bad guy!).
In Reality: I'm that girl that hangs out with guys and dresses like one, with the goggles. It's jeans and t-shirts for me.

IRL: Punkish out of the norm
Steampunk: Airship Pirate or Zeppelin worker? Though it could be put into aristocrat type if I removed an accessory or so.

Vahn Malice Some awesome descriptions, guys. Nah, it doesn't matter if it's in real life or online. Personally, mine was a description of how I do it in real life, but it's a very open-ended question that depends on your personal perspectives and stuff. @Cap'n, you should have. razz I love reading almost as much as I love art. (And I luuurve me some arts.) Enjoying reading and loving art are the same thing there wink

My current real life look? I think I look like I'm about to drill my way to the Earth's core and storm the gates of Hell, kind of a weird western fanatical preacher/explorer/machine operator.

I'm a hardcore horror geek. My real life look is pretty much the same from day to day, at the center of it all is a geeky horror movie t-shirt, and either a skirt or a pair of pants. I wear plastic pearls and plastic bangles that match said geeky horror t-shirt. In the summer time I sometimes set aside that astetic for more of a rockabilly 50's kitch look, and then that sometimes leads to just dressing as a 50's housewife.
As far as my steampunk, I'm pretty much at the point where I can make any kind of costume I want. So far I've made two steampunk costumes, one of an Airship Mechanic/Aviator and the other was made to be a Fairie Exterminator, but is rather nice for anything, a compleatly black sort of badass sort of thing. I wouldnt mind working on a mad max kind of road warrior kind of steampunk thing... I'm not sure. My crew are getting ready for a group photoshoot, so it's pretty much what ever direction everyone wants to go in.
