Oh of course Gratch. How awesome was he? Although the blood flies would get irritating.

Lord Raven Rahl
I'm not sure if I could really pick a favorite, but the ones who made me laugh the most were Zedd, Richard, and Nathan.

I absolutely loved how Nathan insisted on wearing a sword even though he was a very powerful wizard with nearly 1000 years of experience. Just because it made him look 'dashing'. biggrin

Yes Nathan was so cool man but my favorite moment with Zedd was when Richard brought him Kahlan and he was stark naked on his wizard's rock xD

I have a demotivator picture of that over in the art thread. It's pretty funny. xd

Yeah! I loved that about Nathan too. I also totally loved how Zedd had his dry sense of humour, which he showed at the most random times.
But I love Mord - Sith. I'm not really sure why but I just think they're amazing (:

hmmmm, favorite....

Well I Loved Denna, I am not to much of a man to admitted I cried my eyes out when she died. I got so attached to her, and it was not like that for anyone else in the series.

But I also have a strong like for Darken Rahl. Sure he was an all around bad guy, but look at the reasons why he seemed so bad.

A) the story is told from Richards point of view so of course he is the bad guy, we never really get to dive inside darken rahls head and see the true him. if it had been told by darken rahl richard would have been the bad guy.

B) He had a father who raised him to be the way he was, and at a young age he watched his father burn to death, and received scars that had to remind him of it everyday.

C) He was fueled by revenge to see The wizard who did that too him feel the same pain he felt, and complete his fathers wishes by whatever mean nessasary.

So at least he has honor and values. He also has some good sides. He is good with compainy, he would probibly have been a kick a** dad. He doesn't want to kill everyone in the world, or see the world destroied. I think deep down he was just a misguided soul. had the situations been different he probibly would have been a really great standup guy.

What about the part of him being an agent of the Keeper and doing his best to tear the veil and destroy the world?

Had Rahl receieved the Power of Orden do you think any of that would have actually happened? He is not stupid, if the world is destoried then so is he. Not to mention we learn later that the power of Orden can not be used for evil purposes, and tearing the veil i do believe would be considered evil.

As for why he would become an agent of the keeper that is simple, becomeing an agent grants you more power, and with more power you can do many things, one of which is get ahold of Zedd and finally get revenge on him. It probibly no doubt granted him other insightful powers which were useful to him in his attempt to gain control of the world. Parhaps even the rahl movement was in somehow effected by this power. I would go as far as to say that is how he learned about which box would kill him, and how he got masterful at drawing underworldly ruins without effort.

As for tearing the veil, Rahl did not begin really trying to tear the veil until after his death. There are several reasons this could have been. one of the largest is after being killed, I dont know how much control one who has sold their soul would have over their soul in the underworld. At that point he could have been nothing but a pupet of the Keeper, but goodkind does not give us much information about what happens to souls that have been sold.

And a few qoutes that make Dear old daddy Rahl not nearly as bad as people like to think of him.

"After the world is joined i will teach you more, if you wish"-Darken Rahl

"I would like you to see the way people think of me, see the world through my eyes, see how unjustly i am regaurded......one world or no world."-Darken Rahl

"There is no such thing as pure good or pure evil, least of all in people. In the best of us their are thought or deeds that are wicked, and in the worst of us at least some virtue. An adversary is not one who does lothsome acts for their own sake. He always has a reason to him that is justification. My cat eats mice. Does that make him bad? I dont think so, the cat doesn't think so, but i would bet the mice have a different opinion." -Zedd

"I know you don't want to believe this, richard, but you must listen. Darken Rahl does the things he does because he thinks them right, just as you do the things you do because you think them right. The two of you are more the same in that than you know. You want revenge on him for killing your father, and he wants revenge on me for killing his. It is all perception. Whomever wins thinks he was in the right. The loser always believes himself wronged..."-Zedd

While you make your point eloquently, I still can't see Darken as anything other than a monster. Especially after reading the section in the Garden of Life with that young boy.

I would have to say so far (half way through book 3) my favorite character is Zedd. He's so much like me that my best friend who is reading the books along with me calls me Zedd, even though I'm female, and a lot younger than Zedd...Plus, even though I eat as much as Zedd I tend to gain weight...I wish I had his metabolism. Maybe it's the magic that does it.

IMO Shota is numero uno! I know, Zed doesn't like her but I think she's got a different side to her and she's not involved in the series that much (well I've only seen the tv series so far. (didn't know there were books >.<)) She's kind of like (and I might get slapped for saying this) Jack Sparrow from Pirates : Black Pearl because you never really know what side she's one. She just is there, making her prophecies and being her strange and mysterious self.

Favorite character would have to be Nicci. She has been through hell in what she has suffered and endured, thinking it was her own fault for being numb to the suffering of others. Yet when put to the test she struggles to find her answers and eventually finds the answer of life. Life is definitely worth pursuing.
