Redford Blade The merc cackles, "So it is you! Whass your name again, Leaden Heart or something? I 'member seeing you come through our line like a knife 'tween the ribs. The Kitsune really tore us up, took some of us prisoner, and when we couldn't pay the ransom in full, they were willing to take what we had and let the rest go." He smiles a crooked smile. "That was real classy of them. Lotta' mercs'd just sell extra prisoners to the Guild. Damn shame 'bout what happened to them; not many merc units like the Kitsune anymore." “Iron Soul.” Smiling at the praise of the merc Iron straightens up a little. “Yea but it was more or less necessary, your archers were a better shot than most of ours.” His statement was more to pay back the compliment the Kitsune did not really focus too much on archery. “Well our information as to how much you had was incorrect, and my father despised slavery.” As a server comes over Iron looks up and thinks for a moment. “Rice, some salmon if you have it but mackerel will be fine if you do not, aaaand some sake.” Turning back to the man. “It is a shame but from what I have managed to hear the Realm is none to happy with the Silver Blade since they lost a few particular valuable pieces of payment.” Iron Soul taps his sword as he speaks and then stands up. “Well I should probably go and be a bit more personal with others. I do hope to have you by my side on the field one day.” Standing up he takes a look around for a moment before walking forward to Akhil. “Brother. It is nice to see that I am not the only of us to take on another of the chosen.”

Glorious Fall accepts only an ewer of clear water and some hard, crusty bread with a local hard cheese- traveler's food, and from the northern reaches.
She moves through the crowd, patting shoulders and exercising maternal concern to the young and gimlet-eyed admonishment to the adult; she takes her time, never speaking too long or too exclusively with anyone, until she reaches Colonel Tetsun.
"You speak well," she says, simply.

Ahkil kneels to level himself with the servant child and places a hand on the boy's shoulder. "As an honored guest I have been offered my pick of a food, but what do I learn from that?" He pauses as the boy struggles to think through the question, then continues, "Fill a plate with the finest food available and take it for yourself. After your work here is complete, bring me your rations, whatever they may be. Through this simple act we will gain insight into each other's lives, and we shall be the wiser." As the boy hurries off Akhil shouts a parting word meant for all to hear,"Do not forget this lesson, every moment is an opportunity for reflection!" Nightstriker Standing up he takes a look around for a moment before walking forward to Akhil. “Brother. It is nice to see that I am not the only of us to take on another of the chosen.” "Indeed, however, I'm afraid your choice of words does not befit me. It is not yet clear whether the Bull must be 'taken on', or simply led away from his warlike and selfish ways. I only hope that each member of this resistance has the strength to keep their weapons sheathed until such time as they are necessary." Akhil does not hide a long glance at the towering Daiklave. "Wouldn't you agree, brother?"

Anya already had a whole rabbit earlier in the evening, she had seen it from above and decided a meal was in order at the time, before setting off for the meeting. Right now, Anya was only mildly hungry, and when the closest servant came towards her, a mixture of curiosity and shyness etched on his features, Anya merely smiled.
"Whatever you have already prepared that's warm, with a mug of what's served around."
Usually she'd be the first to order a ton of food, but right now she didn't really feel up to it. These people were in need of help and starving them wasn't going to help them any. She noticed that a few others took meals, but nothing overwhelming and it pleased Anya that they at least had moderation when the time came. If SHE could be moderate, then anyone could.
As she awaited for her food to arrive, Anya got up and walked around the room, smiling at the people looking at her, which amounted to quite a few. She nodded to a few, but did not speak to any really, maybe a laugh at some boast made or a word of approval to some idea. She was considered somewhere between the awe of the openly declared exalted and the curiosity of something greater but unknown, so people were slightly hesitant to address her, which didn't bother her really.
It left her time to take in the Solars and see what there was to learn.

Sasha seems content to stay in one corner, some bread and cheese in one hand, and feeding Renaldo some fish with the other. Her flute appears to have disappeared into a pocket of her coat, though no-one can remember seeing her put it away. For that matter, neither can anyone remember exactly who it was offered her the food.
'Mmm, that's more like it.' "I'm glad you like it, Renaldo."

The Bull, unless he is stupid, wants these regions to remain quiet and under his control, which is the opposite of what is going to happen here. These people want their independence back. After his conquest of this region though military might do you really think that he will release it though peaceful talks? I will agree that now is not the time for a full scale military action, there is not enough people here willing let alone capable of taking on the Bulls armies, at least not that I have seen. People need to be trained, equipped, brought together, and shown that it is possible to take on the Bull and his allies. Tasks that will be difficult to keep quiet for very long." Taking a look around his eyes settle down upon the merc he was talking with and then begins to laugh with a booming voice as he suddenly gets an idea.

Taking a look around his eyes settle down upon the merc he was talking with and then begins to laugh with a booming voice as he suddenly gets an idea. Akhil returns his gaze directly to Iron Soul's eyes as he listens. "You are correct that now is not the time for military action. But suppose an allied army was suddenly conjured before us, ready for battle. Would it then be the proper time for war? Have you considered the implications of such an engagement for the denizens of this land?", says Akhil gesturing with his palms in front of him, turned skyward to represent Rokan-Jin. "Forgive me for being presumptive, but you strike me as someone who has been a fighter for a long time. Such a life surely has bestowed upon you an spectacular resilience to hardship. I must inform you, however, that such a resilience is not typical, and that every level of society, from the peasantry to the royalty, of Rokan-Jin and its neighbors would be disrupted, displaced, or destroyed by such a conflict. Repairs have hardly begun since the last one. What I am saying is that another war, particularly one involving the Bull may leave this land a barely inhabited pile of rubble." Feeling that he has spoken too loudly, and not wishing to demoralize anyone at the gathering, Akhil folds his hands together lowers his voice. (Though, anyone not currently engaged in a conversation or sufficiently far away as to have noises lost in the bustle of the meeting place could probably still hear what is being said.) "Thus, it is precisely my goal to achieve victory with as little open conflict as possible. Indeed, prepare the army, for there may be a time and a place. But if we do find ourselves on the battlefield and you hear the clash of blades, know that you are hearing the dying breath of diplomacy. And if you smell blood, know that it is the blood of the land."

"Thanks lad. Whatever's on the board is fine by me, just bring a little ale to wash it down," Valis told the server assigned to him. After his food had been delivered, and a flagon of ale besides, he leaned back to watch the crowd.
This many exalts to oppose the Bull. These folks are either lucky, or there's another hand, or hands, at work here. Regardless, someone needs to confront the Bull one way or another.
He continued to watch as the crow continued it's activities, flowing around the little pockets of who they must hope would be hero's, and no the Anathema monsters that the Dragonbloods painted them to be. Quickly, the food he'd been given was no more, and with a final pull, the flagon was empty as well.
Time to make the rounds. Noticing that Anya had also been doing some people watching, he decided to approach her first.
Sliding through the crowd, he sat down next to the small blond Exalt.
"So, what do you think of out little gathering?"

He trails off in nervous embarrassment, then takes a deep breath. "Whatever it was I did to earn your ire when I was in Whitefall, I am deeply sorry. I'm sure the money went to a good cause." He looks up to see both the girl and her cat watching him with wide eyes. "I thought you stole... Or at least, I assumed it was the Requiem in Moonlight that everyone had been talking about." He seems even more embarrassed. "Or was that not you?" For Sailor Saturn: >>> Just a conversation hook if you want it. Jasper was an ambassador to Whitefall, and stayed there until just over a year ago. He was still fairly rich and arrogant, even after Rokan-Jin was captured, so he might have been one of Sasha's targets. Or not. I leave it up to you. <<<

Her food had just arrived and Anya had taken her first bite when she saw one of the Solars come towards her. It was the one that called himself Valis, with the easy smile. Anya took a few more bites before setting down her plate, withdrawing her delicate-looking hands back into the folds of her cloak, and turn towards him.
"It would be somewhat hard to qualify our gathering...having so little time to look at it in it's completeness. You Exalts offer quite a lot to analyze in such a short time after all." Anya said at first with an honest smile, replying in the Air Tongue. "But I know you offer a wide range of ideas and methods to solve the current problem. Your comrades behind me with the loud voices for example."
Anya took another quick look around the room, taking note of each other Exalt's location and predisposition to the "argument" occurring a short distance behind her. This was liable to happen at some point or another, and Anya was interested in knowing how Solars reacted to different kinds of conflicts, not just opposing one of their own. Although if they broke down this early and so easily, things weren't looking up for the very near future, let alone the world should they all be like-willed in adversity.
"So for now..." she continued, after her slight pause to inspect the room. "...I'm going to withhold my opinion until I have more time to understand it all. May I ask...what you think of us in turn?"

"You are better with words than I could ever be, and no doubt great at inspiring people and have a strong sense of morals and ideals. You will be very useful here. I will remember your words if you remember these. Nothing in creation can be maintained without military might. Rokan-Jin learned this lesson the hard way, when the Bull came upon them.” Taking a deep breath and a short exhale, “now if you will excuse me need to go and work out a few details, of an idea.” Smiling to himself he walks off to a nearby table and pulls out a wax tablet and proceeds to write up some plans and basic designs. As he sits there working his food is brought to him. Picking up the fish by hand he quickly eats it, and ignores the rice and sake for the moment, apparently embroiled in the idea that came to him.

Sasha blinked in response to the ambassador's question, and looked around, eyes darting from side to side, checking for exits, and possible enemies, before coming back to look at the ambassador. She looks quite embarrassed.
"Um...this is awkward....I don't think I've ever met up with someone I raided before." 'He was from the fancy building in the posh district, right? The one with all the parties?'
Sasha nodded, idly petting Renaldo with one hand. She looks up at the ambassador, and smiles slightly.
"If it's any consolation, the money was enough to feed all of us for several months, and buy Merik a pair of shoes. We even managed to buy some medicine to help cure Nian's cough. We'd been so worried that he'd not survive the winter."

Perhaps in time, once we have trade ties with Whitewall again, we might be able to set aside some funding to, uh, purchase more such necessities." Jasper stands a little straighter, taking a longer look at the girl. "You know, some said you were the vengeful ghost of a street child. I never believed it, mind you, since the Syndics always guarded well against the dead, but still. I'm amazed that the Requiem in Moonlight is so young."

"Well, that is speaking well, sometimes." She taps her cheek, then speaks again. "Even if you win the victory, do you really believe your life will return to the way it was? That you can go home, and resume where you left off? You are a warrior, I can tell. You know better."

Redford Blade: >>> Young? Should I have taken the Child Flaw and got the extra bonus points for it? razz <<<
Sasha meets Hidden Jasper's eyes evenly, the look on her face somewhere between a smile and a frown. Her eyes go hard, just for a moment, hinting at why, very rarely, the name Requiem in Moonlight would be heard in connection with an assassination.
"Not so young that those who rule Whitewall in their own interests would not throw me out of the city, condemn me to death simply for trying to keep my people alive." 'Going to scare him? I like spooky stories.' "A street child? Oh yes. Vengeful? Most definitely. A ghost? Only when it suits me to be. If it scares those I seek to bring low, to make equal with the very people they suppress, then I choose to be anything they fear." She takes a sip of a drink that an observer could have sworn wasn't there moments before, before looking back at Jasper.
"But you need not worry, Ambassador. You seek to help the oppressed, and the downtrodden. For someone whose aims align with my own, the only fear will be that of your enemies."
